Below is a post I've submitted to the moderators of ljspeaks. Cross-posting widely.

Here's an alternate idea, one that will have a permanent effect without damaging LJ:

ONE DAY CONTENT STRIKE

For one day, make no posts. Make no comments. Let there be NO new content added to LJ.

SUP obviously does not realize that Basic users have given something of value to them, that it is content that drives the site.

So, for one 24-hour period, from midnight GMT to midnight GMT, let's see how many people we can get to pledge to contribute NO CONTENT.

This will create a permanent downward spike in the daily-posts statistics, a permanent reminder of the power of the userbase.

Who's with me, and what date shall it be?

Edited to add: Date is this Friday, March 21, from midnight to midnight GMT. Spread the word!

	I agree with the above poster-this is a really good idea, but wouldn't be well-served on a higher-traffic day? This is like going to protest at a 9-5 office on a saturday, or at night. : / (Reply to this)

	I have a feeling that this why LJ let things slip around holidays: so that any action we want to take will be 'hidden' or explained away as a slump due to people being away. I don't suppose we could persuade people to boycott LJ for as much as a whole week, but could we go as much as three or four days? So they'll get the message loud and clear... 	No one in SUP or anywhere else is aware of posts or comments! :) There is only one exception. I mean most influential posters, who are most popular and win tons of applauses for even negligible information... Boycotting them for a week seems to be really good idea! That will prick them at least... Stop commenting most influential posters! (Reply to this)
