Welcome to The Nightmare!
Welcome to [info]nightmare_xmas, bandom's holiday fic and art exchange!

With the permission of [info]gmth, goddess of holiday fic exchanges, we've modeled this fic exchange after HP's classic [info]merry_smutmas.

How does it work?

Well, on Monday evening, August 27, at 6 p.m. EST, a sign-up post will go up in this community. We'll take only the first sixty-two signups, which will allow us to post two fics a day during the month of December. You'll get a chance in the signup posts to say what pairings, kinks, and scenarios you'd like written for you and what you'd prefer not to write for someone else.

Signups will remain open through our obtaining 62 participants or September 3, whichever comes first. We're looking to signup between 31-62 participants to allow for daily posting of fic or art throughout December.

By September 15, you will receive via email a link to your recipient's request. Remember please that this is an anonymous fic exchange and identities of authors and artists will not be revealed until New Year's.

If you sign up, you must complete your assignment. This is a gift exchange, therefore, if you drop out, your recipient is left without a gift, which is kind of tacky, y'all, you know? Plus your moderators will have to scramble for pinch hits which will make us kind of cranky at the most festive time of the year. (Ha.)

If you request a fic or art in the signup post you must write or draw for a recipient in return. Exchange is the order of the day.

Pairings must come from MCR or Fueled by Ramen bands. You will be expected to give three to five pairing choices. You may include a pairing that features one individual from outside those bands (i.e. Bert/Gerard or Greta/Maja), but such pairings may only represent a fraction of your entire request. This to make it easier for us to match a writer/artist with a recipient. For the same reason, writers and artists must also be willing to write or draw a variety of pairings rather than requesting to write/draw an OTP.

An age statement will be required from each participant stating whether you are under 18 or over 18. Writers and artists must also state the highest rating they'll write/draw. This will allow us to match participants so that those under 18 will not receive smut as gifts. (Sorry...we're covering our asses on this one.)

All ratings will be accepted, from G-NC-17. While the community is focused on slash pairings, het, gen and femmeslash may also be requested. At least one slash pairing will have to be included in the signup request, however. It will be the prerogative of the writer or artist who is assigned the request as to which pairing they are most comfortable writing or drawing. We will not assign het or femmeslash requests to writers/artists who specifically say they will not do het or femmeslash.

Fics must be a minimum of 1,000 words. They may go on as long as you want, however. All fics must have a beta.

Fics and art may NOT be posted anywhere other than the community until after the reveals.

All submissions will be due to the moderators by November 19. If you need additional time to complete your assignment, please let us know as soon as you know. And bring a bribe. We like chocolate. Preferably Patrick in chocolate--or Gerard. Or both of them. We're not picky.

Fics and art will be posted anonymously to the community by the moderators throughout the month of December, two per day depending upon number of signups.

This community is mirrored on Insanejournal for those who would prefer to follow it there. All fics and art will be posted to both comms; the signup, however, will be posted only on Livejournal with a link to it from Insanejournal.

Further details and clarifications coming soon. Keep a look out for that signup post on Monday, August 27!

Many thanks from your moderators, [info]femmequixotic and [info]ze_dragon!

Question: What happens to people in other time zones if this does turn out to be super popular, and you get all your sign ups within a couple of hours?

Because 6pm EST on a Monday evening is all well and good on your side of the world, but that is 1am on a Sunday night here in Australia. I am interested in participating and I'd hate to miss out just because I can't stay up that late when I have to work the next day.

Obviously this question is moot if there isn't a rush on sign-ups, but I thought I'd better ask, just in case.

Ditto for me.

I'm on CET, 7hrs ahead of EST, which according to my calculations means that the post'll go up at 1am Tuesday morning. I have to work on Tuesday as well, so I can't stay up that late. :(

I've answered Renne's question here.

We'll be putting up a post shortly asking people outside the standard timezones to email us to let us know they're interested so that we make certain as many people who want to participate are able to. :)

Oh, and by standard, I mean the US/Canada Standard Zones. I should probably clarify that. :D

We figure once you get over into Europe and the night hours is when we'll have the most difficulties with people who want to sign up but won't be able to...

Actually 6 p.m. US EST on Monday is around 8 a.m. Tuesday for the east coast of Australia. :D You guys are fourteen hours ahead of us at the moment. (My best friend lives in Sydney so I've become alas all too well acquainted with the evilness of timezones. *G*)

But! We're going to make certain we reserve a certain amount of places for people outside of the US/Canada/UK time zones who can't sign up immediately. We're going to put up a post today for those who are in problematic time zones to email us to let us know that they're interested.

We're also seriously contemplating the possibility of upping the number of participants depending upon the amount of signups we get. We've gotten a lot more interest than we'd expected, actually, so that's a very strong possibility. We'll still have a cap, but we're going to try to be flexible and include as many people as we can.

See, this is why I hate those internet sites that just make it confusing about trying to figure out timezones. I should have known it was wrong myself anyway, considering the fact that we live in the future here ANYWAY. *facepalm*

But even then, I've already left for work by then and I'm not entirely sure I'd be able to sign up to a fanfiction Secret Santa at work. :D So I'll definitely email with my interest.

Thanks! I got it at the gmail and not the yahoo, so I'm guessing that my spam filters caught it the first time.

No problem, I'm fine on time for this. Thanks for the resend!
