Spooks Question
Okay, I know there's an episode in series 2 or 3 in which Harry comments to Ruth that she keeps making the habit of coming into his office unannounced, to the line of "this is becoming a bit of a habit with you" or something along those lines. Can anyone by chance remember which series and episode that might be?

Help would be appreciated. :)

RH fanfiction - Snow
Just a short R/H fic I wrote, fluffy (but not too...) not much of a plot! Please tell me what you think as there is the possibility of it continuing from a one shot to a fic with some more chapters. Written because I want snow, and I'm not likely to get it...well, I can imagine it, right?

Title: Snow
Pairing: R/H
Rating: Universal
Summery: What happens when snow starts falling in London?

More Twists & Turns in UK Television making :)
Talk about bizarre recall. So I'm watching the third episode of Touching Evil, called "What Amathus Wants." In the second half, they go to a prison to interview a woman serving life for murder. The actress playing the prisoner in question is Linda Henry, well known to Bad Girls fans as Yvonne Atkins. But that's not the clincher. The fact that this prison is one and the same (the now de-commissioned HMP Oxford Prison) that was used for Bad Girls HMP Larkhall. At first glance it looked very similar. Then the continuing shots were like deja-vu. Linda Henry did the ep of Touching Evil 2 1/2 yrs before joining </b>Bad Girls</b>, set at the same old prison. :)

Must have been rather interesting to go back. And since I stayed there (albeit now it's a rather posh hotel), it was oddly familiar to me as well. Funny that.

Loving the Touching Evil dvds. :) Nicola Walker is fantastic, as usual.

Chalk reviews: Part Two!
Series Two

Episode 1 – Teaching Practice

An odd episode to start of the new series, focusing on a student teacher played by guest actor Richard Lumsden. Slatt’s homophobic prank backfires on him in a big way, resulting in him arranging a date with the student teacher and “coming out” to the Director of Education. It’s hard to sympathise with Slatt and his attitudes in this episode – at least until the last scene, where his quite tender apology earns him the first bit of respect he’s ever had from Suzy. Suzy’s undergone a big change after a year at Galfast High – as weary and cynical as the rest, shutting the door of the staffroom to keep the kids away, and landing herself with her own awkward situation when her attempt to put off Dan’s infatuation (by offering to have “cold, meaningless sex”) has completely the opposite effect – “Thank you so, so much…” She’s been doing it with a married man from Business Studies, too, the minx! Perhaps the short skirt and black tights are a big draw to the male staff. Also mention must be made of new Headmaster Duncan Preston as the worthy successor to the sadly departed John Wells – and his labored staff speeches on the subject of “Tinkling”.

Episode 2 – Hot Bitch

A nice, slightly more laid back episode all about the private life of Amanda Tripley, and her alternative internet persona. Another recognisable character actor Trevor Cooper appears as her internet beau “Man Helmet”. And after some embarrassing scenes where Slatt is seen crawling to the education officer, all of a sudden, in a glorious twist, he becomes a hero! Thus more respect from Suzy – is this the beginning of a beautiful friendship?

Episode 3 – A Big Problem Downstairs

Back to complete chaos in a very frantic episode set around the parents’ evening –another misunderstanding on Slatt’s part leaves him desperately attempting to retrieve some sensitive pictures of his wife from the photocopier whilst attached to the end of a bungee rope. Suzy is becoming more and more like Slatt herself – after getting at Dan for saying “Great!” in response to everything she says, she finds herself doing the same thing in front of Jason Cockfoster. This in turn leads to her glorious line “Fantastic! Bollocks!!!” and subsequent efforts to dig herself out – “I don’t mean yours. Though I’m sure they are...” RE teacher Jason Cockfoster is more bewildered than usual following the rumours Dan has spread about him being Satan, and his line to Slatt “You’ve got a big problem downstairs!” leads to him being landed with a knock-out punch. All adding to the fun!

Episode 4 – Just Him in a Dress

The pinnacle of “Chalk” – a hilariously written piece and brilliantly funny performances from both David Bamber and Nicola Walker. For once it is Suzy who precipitates the disaster, her indiscretion about an erotic dream involving Eric Slatt leading both of them to embarrassment after embarrassment, culminating in them inadvertently convincing a schizophrenic prospective pupil that they are one and the same person, and being found by the staff crouching together under a school desk. There is so much to adore about this episode –Slatt’s musing on the secret plans of geography teachers – “Today the classroom; tomorrow the world; next day, colour it in”; Suzy’s scary scream on being confronted by Slatt and the others’ realisation of whom she was dreaming about; Suzy inadvertently blurting out the subject of her dream to the kids in the playground over the tannoy; Slatt’s elaborate diagram created to describe why for once it isn’t his fault; and, best of all, Suzy’s even more elaborate diagram created to describe why she is not like Eric Slatt. Bliss!

Episode 5 – The Spice Girls are Next!

Although there is much hilarity to be had in this episode, its overall theme is, it has to be said, rather dark – seeing the star pupil of Galfast High, on the day of his first A level exam, reduced to a wreck and ultimately a vegetable thanks to the machinations and incompetence of Eric Slatt. Suzy takes more of a back seat in this one sadly, though there’s a strong guest turn from Doreen Mantle (of “One Foot in the Grave”) as Slatt’s nemesis Dr Gillespie, who looks set at one point to destroy Slatt once and for all… until, well… Duncan Preston has his finest moments as Mr Kennedy, in increasing anguish thanks to severe gastric disturbances.

Episode 6 – The Staff Party

A lovely way to end the series, allowing all to have their final moment in the spotlight: Mr Carkdale in his party hat; Mr Kennedy in his Elvis gear; Miss Tripley and her weird dream descriptions; and, of course, the final redemption of Eric Slatt, who is allowed – after more embarrassment and indignity involving a video diary – a happy end with his wife. Suzy is still besotted with Jason Cockfoster – and rather naughtily it is she again who precipitates Slatt’s downfall, by watching the offending tape in his room – not knowing that everyone at the party can see it too. The final scenes give a glimmering of hope for Suzy and Dan. While poor Jason Cockfoster is left to bleat “I am a religious education teacher, NOT a eunuch!” (everyone else remaining unconvinced).

Chalk reviews
OK, so Flip has tld me that as I provided the initial inspiration for this Nicola related community, I should darned well post on it! So here I am! And as I have no technical ability to produce wallpapers or icons, I hereby present part one of my mini-reviews on "Chalk" (with of course I bias to Nicola / Suzy related moments):

Chalk – The Reviews – Series One

Episode 1 – God Sees All

A manic start to the series in which David Bamber is perhaps trying too hard, giving a very theatrical performance as the deranged Eric Slatt. The plot – involving a teacher dying on the premises and attempts to keep it hidden – is rather derivative given that “Fawlty Towers” has done this before. Nicola is lovely however as Suzy – the short skirt, black tights and sensible shoes combination suits her well – although leads to the mistaken assumption that she’s a pupil. It’s fun to watch her running about entering into the spirit of the piece as the farcical situation develops. She susses out Dan rather quickly – but would she start the put-downs so early after meeting him? John Wells was amusingly dotty as the Headmaster.

Episode 2 – Welcome to Your Worst Nightmare

A tour de force performance in this one from David Bamber, as Eric Slatt careers through ever more embarrassing situations while being interviewed for a new Headship, culminating in his desperate impersonation of a female art teacher in order to fool one of the interviewers (who happens to be blind). John Wells was again agreeably dotty, particularly after indulging in a spot of cannabis with the sixth form. Great stuff from Nicola as Suzy – although just the slight bit cruel I thought when sabotaging Slatt’s interview via the radio mike. We had some violent Suzy too – flooring Mr Humbolt when being told the truth about Slatt’s blackmail. Surprise guest turns from familiar character actors Paul Brooke and Milton Johns, which I suppose demonstrates the level of support the BBC was giving the show at this point.

Episode 3 – Down with Fallatio!

An odd episode this – Janet’s rather cruel and why doesn’t Eric Slatt simply go and relieve himself when he has the chance! However, plenty to love about this episode – Dan’s imaginary country Estranzia, complete with its own geography and language, and Suzy’s outrage at the names of some of its attractions – “Mount Suzy! Right next to Nice Idea!!!” Miss Tripley was particularly hilarious in this episode, responding to her office phone ringing “Oh! I always knew it could do that!” and later being made to stand in the corner for supreme stupidity. And even asleep Mr Carkdale’s vocabulary consists only of swear words.

Episode 4 – Pump-Man

A fun episode this, as the arrival of the perpetually bewildered RE teacher Mr Cockfoster sees the beginning of Suzy’s unraveling (explored much more in the second series) – all confidence gone, her tongue tied in knots and digging herself into holes worthy of Eric Slatt, ending with “Bollocks!” Away from Mr Cockfoster though she is still very much the only sane member of the staff, while Eric Slatt digs himself into another hole over a besotted pupil’s scrapbook – ending up stranded in a crowded classroom without his trousers. Suzy great in the last scene, in response to Slatt’s desperate “I’m not really Pump-Man” – squinting at his nether regions with the line “No. You’re not, are you…”

Episode 5 – Student Blindness

An excellent episode, showcasing Eric Slatt and his desperate attempt to cover up from a team of school inspectors that there are no pupils in the school. Miss Tripley hilarious describing how she “fired” all the pupils, shooing them out of the school grounds and even making the big ones carry the small ones. Suzy superb in this episode though, reacting to being asked to pretend to be “all the pupils” (it’s that blouse, short skirt and tights combination again!) with the remark “Is it about my thighs?” And it’s Suzy who effectively saves the day by convincing one of the inspectors he is suffering from “student blindness”, and who mans the record player with a recording of kids’ voices to make the inspectors think the school is full – crawling away from the player when the curtains are opened to reveal an empty hall.

Episode 6 – No More Mr Loser-Pants

Patchy episode with great moments. David Bamber does go overboard somewhat with his performance, preparing for the staff-pupil football match. And Eric’s mother and wife (played by the same actress!) do seem unnecessarily cruel – it’s no wonder the man is close to breakdown. Miss Tripley is superb though, getting worked up over all the bare knees, and going to her own “naughty cupboard” when receiving a telling-off. A turning point for Suzy, as all the madness seems to be finally getting to her – although she can’t make herself “walk away”. Great final scene too, with an “aged up” Nicola playing the future Suzy, and that portrait of the destroyed Slatt, surrounded by his six identical sextuplets, all identical to his wife.

Series two soon!

Jonathan Creek: recap
Okay so I started this last night and decided to finish it after seeing flip18's pictures! I do come accross a little deranged but perhaps I am :P

So my first recap of any Nicola Walker episode so bear with me! Not sure where to begin - it might get a little obsessive about NW in some places. Jonathan is the main character, and Maddy is his trusted sidekick for those who can’t remember (it is quite a while ago… 1998??) I’ll try my best to avoid Spooks/NW references but really, I’m an obsessive fan, so what do you expect? Now that all the boring bits are out of the way (and hopefully I won’t have to post this on top of every future recap) we can get onto the episode!

Series 2: My thoughts
Whether you liked the Tom unravelling storyline or not, you have to admit that it proved to be very entertaining viewing. It literally started with a bang and ended with an unbelievable cliff hanger which would undoubtedly make you come back next year.
