Brothers in Stereo at The Dock

Brothers In Stereo are reforming for a weekend of shows, Fri.-Sat. April 20-21, at the newest, hottest George St. live venue: The Dock. (It's in the old O'Reilly's building.) The last full-band show the boys did around these parts was opening for Our Lady Peace in Mt. Pearl, September 2005 so this is a weekend not to be missed.

SLEEPING PILOT - PANIC SEX, OUT NOW!!

Sleeping Pilot are one of the most intense and inspiring live acts going today, having even won a public choice award in 2005 from their hometown of Ottawa, Canada for best live performance. They combine their knowledge, experience, and passion from previous musical endeavours to form a powerful, intelligent whole which both looks back to their hardcore, punk, and rock roots and towards future experimintation, innovation and possibility.

Packaged in a beautiful cardboard Digipak, Sleeping Pilot's debut full-length "Panic Sex" promises to both document the raw power of their incendiary live show and demonstrate their formidable song writing abilities. Mastered at West West Side by Alan Douches, the songs deftly weave together musical elements of rock n roll, punk, hardcore, and no-wave with intelligent and self-reflexive lyrics which chart a course through contemporary social issues and mythologies.

Be sure to catch Sleeping Pilot on tour in Canada this winter, playing select dates with friends For The Mathematics! To purchase Panic Sex, please Paypal $10 dollars to rogernutbey@hotmail.com or write for a mailing address. Thank you :)

www.myspace.com/sonicdeadline
www.sleepingpilot.com

Still available:

SDR006: Cease Upon the Capitol - S/T CD
SDR005: Fuck the Facts/Mesrine - Split 7"
SDR003: The Grey - S/T CDEP
SDR002: Fuck the Facts - Mullet Fever CD
SDR001: I Spoke/Beaumont Hamel - Split 7"

Coming soon:

SDR008: Embassies of Denmark - S/T CDEP
SDR009: Mesrine - Going to the Morgue LP

Fuck the Facts/Mesrine - Split 7", now available!!

Hi Everyone,

I'm really happy to announce that the fifth release under my record label, Sonic Deadline, is finally available for order! This is a split 7" between Fuck the Facts, who have just recently signed to Relapse with their new full-length Stigmata High-Five, and Mesrine, serial killer obsessed old-school grind veterans from Quebec City! Fuck the Facts contribute one song called Taken From the Nest, a totally epic grind-metal masterpiece which is a different version of a song found on their Relapse debut, and Mesrine give us three more tracks of their total Dahmer worship that we've come to love and expect from these guys. To those who have pre-ordered, thanks so much for the patience, your copies are being shipped out this week and early next week. To everyone else, just under half of these babies are gone already, so I suggest you order soon while you still have the chance!

Anyway I couldn't be happier with how these turned out, check it out:

500 copies of this were pressed, all of them on white vinyl. If you want to check out MP3's first, you can do so at the bands Myspace pages, located at www.myspace.com/fuckthefacts and www.myspace.com/mesrine . If people feel like ordering, these are $5ppd and my Paypal address is rogernutbey@hotmail.com . For snail mail just shoot me an e-mail and I'll give you my address. Thanks a lot for the support! :)

www.myspace.com/sonicdeadline

Next:

SDR006: Cease Upon the Capitol - S/T CD
SDR007: Sleeping Pilot - Panic Sex CD

Still available:

SDR003: The Grey - S/T CDEP
SDR002: Fuck the Facts - Mullet Fever CD
SDR001: I Spoke/Beaumont Hamel - Split 7"

new Sonic Deadline release: Fuck the Facts/Mesrine - Split 7"

Hi everyone,

I'm really happy to announce that the fifth release under my label, Sonic Deadline, is now at the pressing plant and should be in my hands in just a few weeks! This latest release is a split 7" between two devestatingly brutal Canadian grind/metal bands, Fuck the Facts, who have just recently signed to Relapse, and Quebec's old-school grind veterans Mesrine.

Fuck the Facts contribute one track, "Taken from the Nest", a fucking epic bastardized grind-metal masterpiece taken from their upcoming Relapse full-length debut, and Mesrine give us three more tracks of dirty, serial-killer obsessed Dahmer worship! You can check out sample MP3's from each band at their respective Myspace pages, www.myspace.com/fuckthefacts and www.myspace.com/mesrine. Here is a sample of the cover artwork which I find to be incredibly rad:

As I said, I will be getting these back in just a few weeks, so pre-orders are available to be taken now! This 7" is limited to 500 copies on white vinyl, and is $5ppd. Paypal = rogernutbey@hotmail.com, and distros can feel free to e-mail me about wholesale rates. Thanks so much for the support everyone, it is appreciated so much :)

Coming soon:

SDR006: Cease Upon the Capitol - S/T CD
SDR007: Sleeping Pilot - Panic Sex CD

Still Available:

SDR004: Tower of Rome/Gun Kata - Split CD
SDR003: The Grey - S/T CDEP
SDR002: Fuck the Facts - Mullet Fever CD
SDR001: I Spoke/Beaumont Hamel - Split 7"

www.myspace.com/sonicdeadline

Hi Everyone just to let you know, the fourth release under my record label Sonic Deadline Records, the Tower Of Rome/Gun Kata split CD, just arrived from the pressing plant. They look and sound really great and are ready to order now! Both bands play crazy blast as fuck grind, with Gun Kata featuring current and ex-members of such bands as Hewhocorrupts, 7000 Dying Rats and Kung-Fu Rick. As always if you're a distro interested in carrying this, get in touch for wholesale rates.
Tower Of Rome/Gun Kata split CD

Hi everyone, the fourth release under my record label, Sonic Deadline Records, is at the pressing plant now and should be available within the next two weeks. This is a split CD between the bands Tower Of Rome and Gun Kata, both of which play very fast grindcore. Tower Of Rome has been compared to such bands as Ed Gein, Discordance Axis, and Pig Destroyer, and have recently come off a successful US tour just this past summer. Gun Kata features ex-members of the bands 7000 Dying Rats and Kung-Fu Rick, as well as current members of Hewhocorrupts, so that should give you a good idea of what they sound like. You can check out both bands and download some mp3s from this release at their respective Myspace pages, www.myspace.com/towerofrome and www.myspace.com/gunkata. Here is a picture of the cover artwork, which is really rad:

I'm taking pre-orders for this CD now, so if people are interested in picking it up, you can Paypal $10 dollars to me at rogernutbey@hotmail.com. Like I said, they're at the pressing plant now and I should be expecting them very soon. Distros if you want to pick this release up, don't hesitate to contact me for wholesale rates!

Anyway thanks a lot for your time everyone, I appreciate it so much! :)

www.sonicdeadline.cjb.net

www.myspace.com/sonicdeadline

Out now on Sonic Deadline Records, new CDEP from The Grey (ex-Shotmaker)

Hi everyone, the third release under my record label, a four-song CDEP from The Grey is now ready to order. If you're not familiar with The Grey, they play melodic and hard-driving dynamic rock, featuring ex-members of the bands Shotmaker and Three Penny Opera. You can check out MP3's from their old CD "Open Credit" on SpectraSonicSound at their Myspace page, www.myspace.com/thegreymusic. The Grey are briefly touring eastern Canada for the rest of this year, and in early 2006 they are touring Europe and Japan in support of this and a full-length coming out on Lovitt records around the same time.

So if anyone is interested in picking this up, I'm selling them for five dollars per CD. It comes in a silk-screened digipak and looks really great! My Paypal address is rogernutbey@hotmail.com, so you can send cash there or contact me for my mailing address. Distros, get in contact for wholesale prices.

Coming soon: SDR004: Tower Of Rome/Gun Kata - split CD is on it's way to the pressing plant next week!

If anyone has any questions, don't hesitate to contact me. Thanks a lot for your time everyone, it is seriously appreciated! :)

New CDEP from The Grey (ex-Shotmaker)

Hi everyone, my record label Sonic Deadline Records has just sent its third release to the pressing plant, a 4-song CDEP from The Grey, which features ex-members of the bands Shotmaker and Three Penny Opera. The Grey play a kind of melodic hard rock, and they plan on touring Europe early in 2006 in support of this as well as a full-length coming out on Lovitt Records around the same time. One of the songs from this EP has actually been taken from that full-length, so check them out at www.thegreymusic.com.

I should be getting these back from the pressing plant in about two weeks, so I can start taking pre-orders now. If people are interested, you can Paypal just five dollars to rogernutbey@hotmail.com. People who run distros, please contact me for wholesale rates.

Coming Soon: Be on the lookout for a split CD between Tower Of Rome and Gun Kata within the next month also!

Still Available: I still have plenty of I Spoke/Beaumont Hamel split 7"s for sale, and about 100 copies of the Fuck The Facts - Mullet Fever CD left if people want to pick those up!

Thanks a lot for your time everyone, I really appreciate it! :)

www.sonicdeadline.cjb.net

cross-posted in newfoundland, st.john's, nf_music, nl_music, george_street....sorry if you're seeing this multiple times!

Hi all!

So I'm coming to visit Newfoundland, St. John's specifically, for the first time, at the end of November. I was wondering if anybody could give me some suggestions on some things to do, places to go, events to check out, etc. I'll be there from Wednesday, November 23rd through Sunday, November 27th. I know of the obvious stuff...George Street, Signal Hill, and such, but I was wondering if anybody had some additional suggestions, on a tight budget?

My main issue is that I won't have any wheels of my own...just my own 2 feet and whatever public transport or friends I can hook up with. But I'll be staying downtown, at City Hostel on Duckworth and...Preston Street I think, so I know Metrobus will be accessible to me at least. I would like to go to Cape Spear...is there any sort of transport to that area? Can I get to the Signal Hill area from downtown St. John's? I don't mind a bit of walking...I live in NYC, so I'm used to it.

As far as other stuff, I'm a musician and an actress, and a HUGE fan of traditional Newfoundland music, so I definitely want to look into the theatre and music scenes there. Does anyone know of any sessions at any of the pubs? I've heard there's one on Friday's at Erin's, but that's all I know so far. Would love to get some nature while I'm out of New York...a wee bit of hiking or something. I'm basically a big music-obsessed artsy tree-hugging Celtophile geek, if that and maybe my UserInfo page gives you any ideas of what I should check out while I'm there. Other than that...yeah, just want to meet people, experience the culture, the land, the music. :)

Any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Amanda in NYC

New format and design for the community is now up. Nothing fancy, but it works. Also, the new icon actually has something to do with the subject matter this time. ;)
