Hi there,
My name is Sam. I help run a zine called SOURGRAPES ZINE. We're a local zine based in Lexington KY. We focus on teaching kids about D.I.Y. ethics, being posi, and why its important to support local art and music.
I wanted to write not only to introduce our zine to the livejournal zine world! But also to explain our predicament. You see, after a lot of pulling out hair and craziness we've decided to hire on a full-time zine team. We used to be submission based but it was pretty hard on our (then) small team.
So now we're looking for like minded zinesters and punks who support self publication, D.I.Y. ethics, posi beliefs, and who are interested in having some fun creating a great zine and keeping the underground press alive!

We're looking for:

- Columnists

My first issue is called 'Framed Nostalgia'

Based on the idea of a collective unconscious with memories that we all share and can feel nostalgic toward. Typically 'love' art falls into this, but I've stayed away from that topic. My aim is to present my reader with a refreshed look at the world, one that seems beautiful in the dirt and comforting in the rain.

On page 9-19, I have featured a poem by Anna Brown: "Confessions from a Lonely calm"
Her words bring you to the moments of Saturday Mornings spent in tranquility and calm. A truly inspiring read that i wish to share with you.

Christ how I miss The Face. All my back issues are look like a dog has chewed them. Except I would kill any dog that went near my stuff. Prolly you all read vicemag.com anyhoo.
Is amazon reliable for magazine subscriptions from America? Coz I NEED to get Flaunt and noone in the UK can sell me a subscription as far as I can see. Meh.
I bet if The Face was still about it would write about Carlos D all the fr*ckin' time.

Hi Everyone!

First I should say, I'm more than in love with this community. :) I'll try to post more often. But, I have a question for all/any of you. Back in January, I did a job for a magazine called "Blank" I'm not sure where to find it... I had never heard of it before. But after doing the job, I think I'd really like the magazine. Not to mention I would like to see my pictures already!!! ;)

Okay, if you've heard of it please let me know. And if you are able to get your hands on it the job looked like this:

Sorry for the blurryness, the photographer wanted to keep all the polaroids, so I had to take a picture of the pol, and my focus was all out of wack, obviously.

Oh! I have a feeling the magazine is South American, don't ask why..

So I notice this thing doesnt get updated too much, but I couldnt help but joining. I just graduated with a writing/journalism major and am dying for an internship at any magazines that are like nylon, venus, teenvogue, elle, etc etc etc... does anyone have any advice for me? I plan on taking the summer off. School wears me out. Anyways, this community seems pretty cool. Say hi sometime.
