nextgendarkfest is a fic and art exchange fest that runs yearly around June. Every piece of fiction or art that is submitted WILL contain dark subject matter that is not appropriate for those under the legal age.

Rules:

1. You must be over 18 as of signups to participate.

2. ALL fic and art submissions MUST contain BOTH of the following:
a. Dark Subject Matter (see below)
b. At least 1 next gen character (see below) who is the main subject or focus of the fic or artwork

3. Fiction must be 1,000 words or more and art should be a product of more than 1 hour of work.

4. Fiction must be beta-read prior to submission. We will return all submissions that have obvious spelling and grammar issues.

5. Slash, het, femslash, and gen are all more than welcome.

6. Fics and art should be rated R-NC17. The rating need not be due to sexual situations, the fics should contain dark themes suitable only for an adult audience. If you are unsure if your fic meets these qualifications, please email nextgendarkfest@gmail.com and we can help you out.

7. You may not repost the fics and art from this fest until the fest is closed. The fest is anonymous, you should not tell anyone (other than betas) about your fic or who your recipient is until the fest is closed.

8. Since this is an exchange fest, please keep in mind that you will be writing or drawing for someone else. If you feel uncomfortable with your pairing or challenge options, please let a mod know IMMEDIATELY via email to nextgendarkfest@gmail.com or by PMing one of us privately.

9. Extensions will be granted but we are limited to providing a 1-week extension at most. This is only for extreme circumstances. Please see a mod immediately if you know you will require an extension.

Definitions:

Dark Subject Matter is defined by inclusion of any or all of the following traits: death, non-consensual sexual situations, loss/grief, violence, psychological trauma, extreme angst, extreme UST, 'pure evil' (i.e. the character has absolutely no redeeming qualities or actions), the realities of incest or incestuous thoughts, obsession, good intentions gone wrong, Death Eater fics, Azkaban-centric fics, Dark Arts material, drug use (please keep it canon), coercion, and probably more that we aren't even depraved enough to think up!

Next Gen is defined by inclusion of at least one of the following characters as a central character in your fic or artwork: James Sirius Potter, Albus Severus Potter, Lily Luna Potter, Scorpius Malfoy, Rose Weasley, Hugo Weasley, Louis Weasley, Dominique Weasley, Victorie Weasley, Teddy Lupin, Fred Weasley II, Roxanne Weasley, Molly Weasley II, Lucy Weasley, Lorcan Scamander, Lysander Scamander, and any children from the Next Generation of Harry Potter that we neglected to mention. ;)

That said, Cross-Gen or stories including characters other than the ones mentioned above are definitely welcomed and encouraged! For example, pairings like Harry/Scorpius or Ginny/Hugo are more than welcome here!
