| Does anyone know any local artists that do graffiti art? My husband and I bought a couple light fixtures that would look great with a piece of graffiti art, but after an exhaustive search online I'm not finding what we're looking for.
If you have any other suggestions of local artist's work that aren't graffiti I'd like to hear about those too!
Thanks! | |

| (UPDATE): The tickets have been taken- thanks for looking. ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- - Through my job, I got two free theatre tickets to see "The Castle," which is playing at New World Stages at 5pm tonight. I actually really want to see this show--it looks interesting. But, I am really, really sick, and there is no way I can leave the house to go. So, I'm looking for someone to take my tickets, since it's bad form for the seats to go empty and I don't want to get in trouble. You can read about "The Castle" here and here. Basically, it seems to be a play about life in and out of New York State prisons--four monologues by people who were formerly incarcerated. The show is 90 minutes long, and it's playing at 50th and 8th. The tickets, as I mentioned, are free. If you are interested and are REALLY and truly going to use the tickets, contact me and I'll give you the details to get the tickets. I just don't want anyone to flake out on me because it will really reflect poorly on me at work if those seats go empty. Thanks! | |

So I'm about to move to Astoria, and even though I know it's really amazing there, I'm a little bummed about leaving Manhattan.
So perk me up! What do you LOVE about Astoria, what awesome things do I have to look forward to? I'll be living at 30th Ave and 42nd St.

| For any of you that hang in Union Square, I'm looking for an artist that usually sells there in the summer. He usually takes photos of NYC centered in a big frame, then uses paint and physical objects (like pieces of metal, wood, etc.) to complete the photos. If you don't know who I'm talking about, this will sound confusing to you, but if you know it makes sense.
ANYWAY...anyone know if he has a site? I was waiting to get a new place before I started buying his work, but now that I have one, I can't find him anywhere. Any help is appreciated. | |

| Well, here goes! I know a lot of folks love posting beautiful imagery here, for our pure enjoyment, for discussion and to help give this city a face and extend its personality onto the online realm. As we launched a month ago, my company (we're located near Penn Station) is holding our first monthly contest! Submit as many photos as you wish or simply enjoy the current submissions! The contest ends on March 2, but we're already gearing up for round 2. Members who sign up now will receive unlimited photo storage, and there's many more features coming down the pipeline in the near future! (Mods, please delete this post if it violates any community rules, thanks!) | |
