Hey kids. My first post in a couple of weeks and I'm drunk. We went to Menjo's, a gay club. It was pretty awesome. Danced a lot, tipped drag queens. Rum is my friend, as are Yeager bombs. I always feel like Yeager should be spelled with a J, but spell check disagrees. There were definitely some cute boys. Didn't get any action or anything, but danced with some and got a few drinks bought for me. One of the bartenders was a tranny boy, I think, I could swear he was wearing a binder.

I love it, I don't even know.

Also, mac'n'cheese. Delicious.

Also, also, Lady Gaga. Fuck yeah.

10th-Dec-2009 04:31 pm - holidays
I've been told I'm not the easiest person to shop for. That isn't an enormous shock to me; there are fairly few physical-type things that I really want (and I try to keep the amount of stuff I own down, because I'm an enormous packrat and a very messy person, so it just ends up everywhere and then broken anyway). On top of that, asking for things makes me actually, physically uncomfortable. Which is why I never do the holiday wish list meme. (Also why I never reply to people's Christmas card posts. IDEK, my neuroses, let me show you them.)

When my sister asked me what I wanted earlier this week, the only thing I could think of off the top of my head was slippers. Racking my brains since then, here's what I've come up with:

* Season 2 of the Sarah Connor Chronicles;
* Either the Mariano Rivera or Derek Jeter print from here.

But! And I feel much better about this! If there is one thing I love, absolutely love, it's art made by my friends. Through most of high school and all of college, I had pictures my friends drew hanging up in my room (both fanart and not, and back in my old bedroom much of it was drawn directly on the walls); even now, I've got a cute sketch Jess drew hanging up over my desk at work, and for ages my computer desktop was a gorgeous picture by Noelle. I absolutely love drawings and doodles and art of any sort, up to and including stick figures

Other news: Rachel and I made delicious sugar cookies a couple of days ago. The perfect recipe, it turns out, really IS a little bit of sugar + a little bit of butter. And by little, I mean a lot.

Everyone in the world should be reading [info]mnfaure 's LJ. No, really.

She and her husband are FOR REAL in the middle of global sightseeing trip. I am SO GLAD she's blogging this much, because dadgummit, it's amazing. Beyond the coolness that is international travel, she's an awesome writer so you're getting these gorgeous postcards whenever she has a chance to use the Internets.

Read her blog. I'm gonna cross-post this to FB, because I'm loving her posts THAT much.

And yes, this gets a brand new tag: cool people doing cool things.
10th-Dec-2009 02:06 am - Writer's Block: Role model

Is there any character from a novel or film that serves as a role model to you? What kind of advice do you think she or he would give you regarding any major issues you're facing right now?

Wendy Moira Angela Darling. Because she understood that all people have to grow up and that we can't stay young forever. And right about now she'd tell me that I don't have to grow up just yet. My time will come eventually.

(BTW, totally having my future daughter's middle name be Moira.)

Prompt: Full Moon
Fandom: Fast and the Furious series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer

The actual full moon rises ice white and haunting. They’ve had storms all day, unusual weather for Los Angeles, but the night is clear and cold.

“Six nights this month,” Oz says. “Blue moon.”

They stand together in the cage in the basement, naked, alone. Letty fights the shift tonight where it’s safe and she has help. Next moon, she’ll try in public, with Faith ready to tranq her and haul her away.

Her skin itches. Her eyes burn. Her mouth is dry, her tongue too big for it. Her teeth are sharp. She paces, counts her breaths, and waits.

---

So this should have been written for Dec. 2, which was my intent, but then the story got longer than planned. Hopefully I'll be able to time the actual blue moon drabble better. And if you leave a prompt, I'll write a drabble to it.
9th-Dec-2009 09:52 pm - meme
A meme, stole from [info]lynstraine, to celebrate fantastic things like Erin Day and Corbin On Broadway. Though probably I won't answer tonight, as I am probably about to go to bed.

Pick a song - any song. Look it up on youtube/media outlet of choice and link it to me; lyrics are also handy. Choose a pairing, and I will write you a ficlet based off said song.

Not that I don't still owe at least one person a ficlet. *cough* You all know my fandoms, y/y?

ETA: So I just watched the Road to El Dorado, you know, as I do. Quick thoughts:

1) CGI animation was still pretty awkwardly shoehorned in in 2000, huh?

2) Tulio is an animated hotass (see icon, also, no duh);

3) Between the bit at the beginning where Tulio stops a volcano with his brain and the bit at the end where Miguel flies, I want fic where it turns out, they don't know it, but they are secretly gods (or demigods, or somesuch), and the next set of adventures they have involves coming into their divinity. (I'm thinking gods of earth and air, maybe? Of course, Chel needs to be deified too, because all members of the threesome should be on even footing, but she doesn't strike me as fire or water. Thoughts?)

4) I always think this movie can't possibly be as gay as I remember it, but NO REALLY IT IS;

5) Still kinda stuck on #2. I'd hit that.

I don't even know. Today's just been a fuck-around-on-youtube day and I've realized all of my favorites are totally fail-tastic.
8th-Dec-2009 10:17 pm - Katy Pfaffl is awesome
I finished the first big chunk of my Yuletide source, and in a minute I'm going to exercise + shower + go to bed. But for tonight, I want to link you to a video.

This is Katy Pfaffl (who is awesome, and whose music you should all buy right now) at the last performance I saw from her, singing a song called (as I just learned), "Rebar." And it is SUCH a "Tony Stark during Civil War and/or after Steve's death" song (or a great angsty "I should have told you" song for any fandom, really). The association came to my mind the second I heard it, and it filled me with glee. So you should all listen to it, because it's a fantastic song in all ways and Katy is awesome and who doesn't need more fandom-associated songs in their lives?

Title: Secret Holiday Project 2009

Prompt: Dominic (from [info]catalinay)
Fandom: Fast and the Furious series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Letty’s half-asleep when the thoughts of Dom come. He should be here, rubbing her shoulders, his laugh rumbling in his chest when Faith teases him. He wouldn’t much like Oz, she thinks, but maybe.

She’s been so caught up in learning to be werewolf and Slayer, she doesn’t have much time to actively miss him, but the ache of loss is always right there beneath the surface.

If he walked through the door, she’d hold him and kiss him first. Then she’d punch him for thinking leaving was the best way to protect her.

Letty can take care of herself.

Leave a prompt, I'll write a linked drabble.
8th-Dec-2009 04:33 pm - HELLO LIVE JOURNAL
I haven't seen you in a week. Ish. :D

So I'm thinking, I should do something awesome for Christmas. You know, for the few people that actually follow me and read all of the mindless crap I post on here when I'm bored/upset. The only thing I can think of is the stuff I do often--share my music! I haven't figured out how to share the movies I have, but that will come at a later time. Actually, can I even share movies if I downloaded them from a torrent site/program thing? Whatever, so I'll be posting my iTunes playlist once more, probably late tomorrow night after Glee so I can get the songs from the LAST EPISODE UNTIL APRIL. And I might post seperate links for each genre of music so you don't have to go through 1,000+ songs. It depends on how awesome I feel tomorrow.

On another note...HALF BLOOD PRINCE OMFG. DO WANT. Honestly, I told my mom that if the only thing I ended up getting was this movie, I would be fine. Of course the special deluxe edition of the first 2 movies would be a plus. Might get my grandparents to buy me that. Time to start leaving not so subtle hints now... So until I have the DVD in my hands, I have it downloaded, along with Public Enemies. Gotta love torrents, it only took less than an hour for both of them too. So on the agenda for tonight: 1) Christmas movies with the fam. 2) Public Enemies (DEPP <3) 3) HARRY POTTER.

Excellent Tuesday night indeed.

OH. And if any of you happen to watch Gossip Girl and happen to find a gif of Nate punching Trip that would be AMAZING. And another thing, is it Trip or Tripp? I'm pretty sure it's Trip because that's how it was in Nate's phone when he tried to call him after the accident. But everywhere else has it as Tripp. So confused. I'll leave it as Trip because I trust Nate Archibald's phone. :)
I FOUND THIS AND I AM NOW POSTING IT ON THE INTERNETS. From the WIP, which is undergoing a title change.

They don't have to spell it out for me. The hoodlum had, of course, matched Johnny's description. I gaze into my water, wondering how Johnny would be described in a police report.

Medium height, medium build, medium brown hair. He isn't perfectly average, though. He has a slightly crooked nose, an angular bone structure, a closed, sometimes bent stance. His mouth is forever downturned, even when he smiles. And those dark brown eyes see things differently than the rest of the world. I'm sure of it.

Would those things be in a report? Those extreme, distinguishing features?

I don't think so.

The only thing real thing that might make it into a report is his scar. But no, he didn't have it then. He'd gotten it in prison.

I am not convinced. That must be written all over my face, because Colm says, "That's not all. You know who his best friend was, even back then?"

I flick a glance at him. Yes, Colm. I know who his best friend was. Me.

I love the song, and Daughtry is awesome for letting Westlife record it, but yeah, I figured I'd cap the video. LOL Anyway, so I also sent this to my favorite Westlife site (westlifeplanet.nl) for use in their gallery, but I figured I'd just post it up here too, before I forget that I did all the work to cap it. LOL

Prompt: Home
Fandom: Fast and the Furious series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer

The house is chilly when they get home. Oz heats milk for hot chocolate. Letty sprawls on the couch, still languid and sleepy. Faith sits on the end and Letty pushes her bare feet under Faith’s thigh. Her toes are cold, but mostly she does it so Faith will stroke her calves, which she does.

Oz brings drinks and Letty sits up long enough for him to settle next to her, then leans against her side. Faith hands out the blankets, Oz slings his arm around Letty, and Letty flips channels until she finds classic cartoons.

Letty loves coming home.

So because my mother is a flake the bitch at the doctor back in DeWitt sent me forms for financial assistance on this stupid bill (for shots I got so that I could freaking ENROLL, by the way) and I am supposed to provide copies of my license/ID (a temp, but fine), two paycheck stubs (fine), my "last filed Federal Income Tax form, completed and signed" (what the shit? Don't people, you know, send those to the IRS?), and "decision regarding application for Medicaid/Title 19 coverage" (what the fuck is that supposed to mean?).

I just feel like getting someone on the phone and yelling at them. Not that it'll do me any good.

My protocol is done, in the three ring binder, and in my backpack. Unfortunately I still have two papers, a play to read, and six (x_x) sets of reading notes to complete. Wah.

ETA: Greg Grunberg. Why do you have to wankbait? Despite your constant plugging as Yowza I still loved you because you bring me funny shit and Milo (those two do not necessarily coincide).
