newsies: race
Hi everyone,

(I hope this is allowed; if not, let me know)

I've discovered that there is a regrettable lack of Newsies gifs in existence, so I'm currently doing gifs and animated Newsies icons. I was just going to do some for personal use, but then I figured hey, this is a small enough fandom, so I'm accepting requests. I don't know, is this something you guys would be interested in?

If so, just comment and let me know what scene(s) or interaction(s) from the movie you'd like, and whether you'd like an icon or a gif (or both).

See icon for example, or:

newsies: javid so close
*waves* Hi, everyone! I'm new to Newsies fandom, and brand new to this community, so I'm extraordinarily terrified a little nervous about posting for the first time, especially bringing something like this over that isn't exclusively Newsies, but I made picspam over at my journal and wanted to share it with you guys. It's split between Newsies and Drake and Josh (which is my main fandom), but even if you're not a fan of D&J at all, there's still enough Newsies goodness to keep you entertained. On the Newsies side, it's Javid, Sprace, and Blush-centric. Enjoy!

Ano...I think this would be tagged as fanart...right? LOL
15th-Aug-2009 04:06 pm - A Newsies Site...I've never hoid of!

OK, so awhile back I asked for help in finding GOOD quality pics of Newsies and such...WELL, I got some great help, but didn't really have time to look too far into it...so after going to a few pages and clicking on links to other sites, I came across one that is AWESOME! I'm sure it's been around for awhile, BUT I've never heard of. So if you have, forgive me!

DEFINITELY MY BRAND OF HEROIN! ^.^

If you're on a roll with the lunacy, I suppose it's natural to keep on continuing. And without further ado, here comes a new chapter of Falling Up. I blame my brilliant co-writer Madwomanpoems for this, chiefly!

Title: Falling Up, Chapter 2
Fandom: Little Women & Newsies Crossover
Series: Falling Up
Co-writer: Madwomanpoems / Captivatedbythesky
Characters/Pairings: Jack/Jo, Jo/Laurie, Laurie/Amy, Cast of Both Series
Rating: R
Summary: When Jo March flees to New York to escape an old friend's betrayal, she never thought she'd end up meeting his exact double. But then, Jack Kelly didn't exactly know what he was getting into when he met her either... Jo/Jack, Jo/Laurie, Laurie/Amy.
Note: This is a Little Women/Newsies crossover, with all the madness that entails. Remember that Christian Bale played both Laurie (in Little Women) and Jack Kelly (in Newsies) and it makes marginally more sense.

Jack was a very nice man indeed, although Jo was currently refusing to allow herself to believe anything more could be at work. Surely this poor man was merely afraid that if he let the the twitchy psychotic who had just assaulted him waltz out of his sight, she'd probably go and threaten to dangle school children from a pier, or whatever. It was probably him attempting to look out for the public that made him call after her with such a surprising offer.
Jo/Laurie: Sexy Times for Sex
You can blame this fic on the brilliant madness of my co-writer Madwomanpoems (also known as Captivatedbythesky on fanfiction.net). Who else would make me wonder what would happen if, instead of settling down with the incredibly boring, if sweet, Professor Bhaer, Jo March of the Little Women series had decided to go back to New York after getting her heart torn in half by her new brother-in-law Laurie... and then gone on to meet his exact double, a certain former newspaper merchant by the name of Jack Kelly?

And then saw the sparks start flying?

And then, alight with this new vision, we ended up writing the first chapter to the story. Here's to hoping you enjoy the fruit of our labors presently. ;)

No, his editor had gone and made sure Jack was spending what would have otherwise been a very pleasant Saturday morning napping or catching up with friends into a morning where he had to interview some hoity-toity old lady spinster about some book she'd written about her childhood-- Little Ladies or Midget Women or whatever. Like Jack really gave a damn about a happy, idyllic childhood in some happy, idyllic life spent frolicking in the woods with a happy, idyllic family.

For those of you who don't know, I am Hair. I was originally at [info]greenberryhair, but this is my personal LJ. I've been moving everything of mine to come out of my personal LJ, so this is another transition that I've been making. LOL ANYWAY! I just have a question. I am looking for GOOD pics of our newsboys. Well, does anyone here HAVE any of them? LOL I'd prefer it if they were in Newsies gear, but if not, it's cool. Can ya'll help me out please?

The reason I'm asking is because I want to make layouts featuring them. See the layout for this community? Like that! LOL I mean, it's a great example because well...I did make it. LOL But anyway...so would you like to help me out? I'd be forever grateful! *hugs*

17th-Mar-2009 05:03 pm - Newsies RPG! Just opened!

HIGH TIMES, HARD TIMES

sometimes the living is sweet,
and sometimes there's nothing to eat,
but i always land on my feet

It's been one years since the newsies won their Newsboy Strike,
but looking around New York City one would think that little has
changed. Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst are back
to their old ways, competing with one another to find the biggest
front page story out there, even going as far as to influence the
news with money, creating stories that wouldn't otherwise exist.

The stories come from the waves of immigrants making their way
through Ellis Island, shaping the dynamics of their city. It is easy
to pick on the newcomers, blaming them for the rise in crime, the
loss of jobs to hardworking American citizens, and the shaping of
small communities separating the Old World from the New World.
It's almost too perfect. Each immigrant has a story that can be
warped into a front page sensation, creating animosity where
there might not originally have been any.

For the Newsies it is a double whammy. Depending on the news
publication they work for it is a race to sell the most papes in
order to get their payment, for if they don't sell it they can either
kiss their jobs goodbye, or lose any possible hope of getting a
raise. And at the same time they have to worry about keeping
their jobs from falling into the hands of the newcomers, the boys
of foreign lands that would work for cheap, something that only
increases the newspaper war between Pulitzer and Hearst. Where
once the various newsboy groups were friends, they find that it
is time to go their separate ways. It's every Newsie for himself,
just as it is every man, woman, and child for themselves as the
face of New York City changes, turning into a stranger of sorts.

so when there's dry times
i wait for high times and then
i put on my best, and i stick out my chest
and i'm off to the races again!
