New Jersey Furs

August 1st will be the last beach meet of the year :)
This past one had 14 Furs (13:2 male to female ratio..)
4 of my non furry friends (one is in the furry closet) came out to say hi as well.. so in a little group on the beach there were 18 of us..

14 who showed: Myself, Camio, Freline, Dameon, Damion, Luc, Shadow Wolf, Varumu, Cubbi, Mae, Stormy, Zech, Layne and Sweeper :)

While August 1st will be the last meet, I am interested in going to see some of the Battery Restoration that the Army is doing... When I get a definite date and info for that, I'll let everyone know, so anyone who is interested in coming can come.
The dates the army will be there are:
29-30 August - Fort Hancock, NJ (Workdays)
30 Oct - 1 Nov - Fort Hancock, NJ
19 Dec - Ft Hancock, NJ - History House Christmas (date tentative)

I'll be emailing them to see what we can do on those dates..

Ok, I hope that title got the appropriate attention :) Here is the meat of it:

For a very long time I have toyed around with a specific idea for a new sci-fi RP game. Regular ole paper and dice with as much or as little flair as players would like to their playing (though I'd hope for much! I certainly would give a healthy amount. :) or surely try.)

Right now, I am not asking for 'commitment' per say, but I am more fishing for interest (and enthusiasm!) for such and idea. If I find those things I shall indeed proceed. :)

So, what is the game about? Well, if you are familiar with 1980's TV, you surely then were expose d to a particular mini-series (I believe there were two and also a normal series that ran for a season) called simply 'V'.

No no, not for Vendetta! V! (for Victory, actually. But that's not the title.)

Well this is not that, but it's the same idea! More or less it's a game about alien invasion. Not in a Starship Troopers sort of way (as it is set in the present day and won't be a 'warfront' sort of game), guess you could call it like-ish to Independence Day. More or less it's a BLAM they are here and now we most be crafty bastards to try and get em outta here. Or actually.. well maybe we should try and stay alive first.

Intrigue? Hell yes! Covert activities? If you don't know how you better learn... Silliness? Absolutely! Will we stand a chance? Well maybe. This version of 'reality' will have some perks we don't enjoy in ours that I figured was a must have to give humanity a chance in hell. (Like a much more liberal 'access to weapons' policy and more lenient gun laws.)

What sort of character can you play? Well anything (within reason) really. You could be some police guy, military, politician; or even better, some random taxi cab driver, teacher, scientist or even some hacki-sack loving beatnik just along for the ride!

What is the catch? Well there is a few. I have only a 'vague' play system. Good ideas! But very untested. I have put some work into it. I have a skills list, stats, and idea how it all wires together; definitely have back-story.

Other catch is that right now my roomie and I don't yet have the appropriate furniture to host yet. In a month or so, we likely will! I figure if I get enough interest it will take at least a month to find out what times are good for what people, develop the system enough to get you guys some 'paper' to go with your dice, and to hammer out character concepts for those interested.

What's in it for you? Well, fun! Fun will be mandatory; of you are a rules lawyer, you can help enforce that rule ;) Another thing would be you folks will have the chance to help develop this beast with me. :) Never done a game system before and I loved my old initial ideas. :) Going to try and keep it simple, yet functional. On top of it all, hey, it folks getting together.

So please, if you do indeed have interest (or even enthusiasm!) for such a game; please do contact me! Optimally 4 other players would be perfect (in addition to my roomie). Hopefully not more than 6! But folks can always miss days here and there I suppose..

Details: We'll be meeting at the International Grill Buffet which is in Wilmington DE, along Kirkwood Highway, near party city, at 7:30PM. We'll head inside grab some really delicious buffet food. Expect $15 for all you can eat plus a drink.

You will be paying the restaurant directly instead of me.

Around 8:30 we'll be leaving there and heading right down the road to AMF Price Lanes. We should get there just in time for cosmic bowling. Expect to bring about $15 for two games and shoes.

Can I just hang out?
Sure you can come to just hang out! Lots of folks come to just socialize!

Do I need to spend any money?
Nobody is going to fault you for pinching your pennies however, buying a soda at the resteraunt, or some food from the bowling alley, helps ensure they enjoy hosting our group.

How much should I bring for everything?
Expect to spend about $30 for both events.

Can I wear my fursuit?
Fursuits at the bowling lanes are all groovy and cool as long as you're comfy signing the legal waiver. However do not suit to the buffet. For practicalities sake as well as good will with the restaurant. Tails/ears however are encouraged. Just remember that it's on a Saturday and will more than likely be a bit crowded with mundane folk.

So, now that I've graduated college and returned to NJ for the time being, I was thinking we should do something... something other than those weekly dinner meets and while I enjoy a trip to the nude beach that may not be in everyone's deck of cards. So, does anyone want to take a trip down the Delaware River in an inner tube? Or how about a trip to the Lakota Wolf Preserve or something?

Coming up in September (plenty of notice!) Kittrel, our Roomate Ian, and myself will be neededing a fourth roomate in our townhouse located in Warminster, PA.We had two other roomates, one has left already, and the second wants to leave in the fall, so we need someone to help fill the gap. Its cheaper to keep our current apartment (3 Bedroom, 2.5 bath) than to move to a smaller 2 bedroom unit. Ammenities include your own Bedroom! (Horray!) Washer/Dryer on site, Full kitchen with all the goodies (Fridge, Stove, Microwave, disposal, dishwasher), and a decent location near any shopping you may want to do here in Warminster. Rent and Utilities should be around 400/mo (we are currently streamlining things like cable/internet as we do the roomate transition, so we dont quite know the true monthly utilities rate just yet. Post comments here for questions or whatnot and We'll do whatever we can to answer them :D we'd really like to keep our place and well... its packed with furries, awesome, no?

There will be a fursuit work shop twice a month. One in central Jersey, and one in North Jersey in Jersey City!

I'm Rustwolf (feel free to call me Rusty ) , and I live in Sicklerville, NJ. I've always wanted to have a furry friend that lives in New Jersey...and so hopefully by joining the community, I can  :3 I have been a furry for about 2 years now (new to Livejournal) , and what can I say, I love being a furry, chatting  with friends, and wrting poetry.

OK guys.. we're all set...

Due to the weather forecast, the BBQ WILL be held at the Kingston First Aid Squad... 4280 US Route 27 in Kingston NJ 08528 which is on at the corner of US Route 27 and Raymond Rd... look for the driveway entrances located about 50 yards East before each intersection on either Rt 27 or Raymond Rd.. if you get to the light you went just a little too far.

No worries though... we'll have a blast anyway :)

I'll know in a little bit for certain... just waiting on a callback from the chief to make sure the hall is available, even though the schedule says it is.

As most of you know... it's been raining .. a LOT... record levels as a matter of fact... so much so I MAY have to postpone the BBQ... Saturday is supposed to be a complete washout with thunderstorms and even a chance of hail!

Well I've been putting off posting here for just a lil while till I was sure I'd be moving out that way. Looks like everything's mostly set and the likelihood of me being there is in the high 90's of percentage.

Time: 7pm untill finished!

What: Fursuiting workshops! Working on a full suit? A partial suit? Just Paws? Tail? Ears? Have a lot of material you wanna give away? Looking for material? Have equipment you are willing to give to others or let others borrow for this workshop? Or just want to lend a helping paw? Whatever it is you are working on, get some help, support, and advice you may need to help put your suit together. All fursuiting skill levels welcome. (Just wanna give moral support? Sure, come on by!)

Where: We have space we can use in the Franklin Feld Building in Highland Park, NJ. Same place the Pride Center of NJ has moved to, which was the old location of the fursuit workshops. Very nice area and space, comfortable and near a lot of little shops. We can order pizza, chinese, etc.. as we are working on suits throughout the night. Best of all the space is free to use!

Parking: Free and plenty of it on the street or in the parking lot behind the building.

Yes! It's that time of year again! We will go to the beach, see the ocean and sunbathe on the sand! Last year was a blast, our biggest meet was around 20 furs in all on the most famous clothing optional beach on the east coast! Sandy Hook's Area Gunnison. Especially fun when one of my friends welcomed furs into his home and had a hot tub for us to use connected to his house! That was a blast! :) He may join us for a meet or two this year..

This year, I'm going to try and see if we can get a hotel with a hot tub in the room for the August meet. This way we can all relax, and furs that are traveling from far away can crash and hang out for an extra day with the furs of NJ! Lots of places to go to and things to do after the beach, and maybe even an after party if everyone is up for it! For furs traveling from other states by plane, train or bus, if you can get to or arrive via train along the NE:Corridor line in Middlesex county, I can pick you up, just let me know ahead of time.

Fun times! We've been doing this for about 5years now! wow!

A few furs and myself have been talking at the Thursday meets about bring back the fursuiting workshops... (remember those, back in the day..?)

We used to have them over at the Pride Center in North Brunswick.. Which is now in Highland Park (much better area and more comfortable space).. and plenty of free space some nights..

The possible nights would be Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.. To start we are thinking 1 night a month..

How does the 3rd Friday of every month sound?
It'd start at 6 or 7pm and go on till when ever we decided to end it.. (I has keys) We can also order Noodle Gourmet to be delivered to the center while we work, or afterwards we can grab a bite to eat.. we can also play video games.. there is wifi.. bowling, etc.. If we have it on the 3rd Friday, Saturday, or Tuesday of the month, we'd have the place to ourselves.. (something else to think about) Same with the 4th Friday and 1st Saturday.

Any thoughts on this? If I don't get much of a response back (mailing lists tend to be dead sometimes), I'll just start a few up, and see where they go :)

Anybody out there interested in hitting up a drive-in movie this summer? I haven't been to a drive-in movie in ages and I'm feeling a bit nostalgic. I'm thinking some time in June would be cool. The Delsea Drive-in is the last remaining drive-in in New Jersey and is in Vineland, NJ. Admission is $8.00 for the double feature and you can pay $7.00 per car load to bring outside food and beverages in with you. They also have a full concession stand available. Transformers 2 opens on Wednesday June, 24. Either Friday the 26th or Sat the 27th would probably be the best dates to go. So, who's up for this?

Just got offered a job in Morristown, and I need to move next week. I know I probably don't know anyone in the community, but I could really use some help moving my things into an apartment- beer and pizza on me!
