Aepril Schaile has been called "An American Priestess of the Dark Goddess", whose style of Gothic Bellydance captures the sacredness of the Dark Feminine. She hails from Salem, MA where she teaches and performs bellydance, and also practices the mystical arts of astrology and Tarot reading. She directs a theatrical dance company called "Exquisite Corpse Productions" and also leads a musical project called "Aepril Schaile and the Judgement". She is a much-sought-after teacher and performer who has been featured at numerous events nationwide.The Dancing Gypsy is proud to host Aepril for two extraordinary workshops and a performance showcase featuring many different flavors of Theatrical, Gothic, and Experimental bellydance. Here is the chance to learn a dramatically different form of expression from New England's favorite Gothic Goddess!

Workshops:
Bellydance Drama and the Energy Body. 2-3:30pm, $30. This class is a metaphysical and intuitive approach to bellydance. Aepril explores both the mystical and the technical aspects of ritual and theatrical dance. Techniques include moving meditation, kinesthetic visualization, theater exercises, and choreography. This workshop delves into the ways in which we can become more conscious of the invisible energies of our bodies and minds. Bring magic, power, grace, and presence to your dance! Join us as we work extensively with story, mood, and myth to discover what the ancients knew as 'the invisible world'.

Raqs Victoriana: The Romantic Art of Victorian-inspired Bellydance. 4-5:30pm, $30. In this class, Aepril fuses the antique sepia and lace 'look' of the Victorian era with the serpentine sensuality of contemporary bellydance. Learn to create movement that is compellingly dramatic and darkly ethereal. Aepril teaches a choreography that blends melancholic refinement with the bold staccato movements of modern popping-and-locking Fusion bellydance. Creative ideas for props, costuming, and music will also be covered.

SPECIAL DISCOUNT PACKAGE: GET BOTH WORKSHOPS FOR JUST $50.

Five years ago this July we launched Xmortis. It was a new monthly celebration of morbid mirth, in the long, dark tradition of Manray Nightclub. Since Manray's closing we have kept that tradition going strong at T.T. the Bears. Come celebrate our 5th year anniversary with us!

We're looking to dig out some great blasts from the depths of our spooky past. We'll have prizes and giveaways to thank you all for the memories, with wishes for many more to come! I am hoping that maybe some fellow goths in Central Massachusetts could maybe give a desperate girl a lead. I am in search of a super cheap car, like under $400, an automatic, in drivable condition. Please read under the cut in the event you think you can help me.
This has been a horrible year for us. The past 3 years have been bad, but this year has been the worst, as I am sure with the economy it has been rough on many people.
My dad almost died due to intestinal and heart issues, and my mom is very sick. I lost time at work unpaid trying to help. Also my Father-in0law lives in AZ and he had a near fatal stroke, and was then diagnosed with terminal cancer during his recovery. My husband and I lost time at work and had to spend $1500 to fly out to see him for what may have been the very last time, as they do not know how long he has. Then I found out I was pregnant, only to miscarry a few weeks later. Between Dr visits, blood tests, medical attention, and time out of work unpaid to recover, we are barely scraping by. Things are desperate. My car, which I was still paying on, pretty much rusted from the inside out, and was no longer drivable. I couldn't afford any more repairs, and I was getting behind with payments, so in the end since I couldn't pay for it and I couldn't drive it, I let it be repossessed since the repairs were more than what I still owed. I work in Holden from 5am-1:30pm, and hubby works in Westboro from 9:30-6pm, so trying to juggle the one car is not working out. I have a temporary ride to and from work for most days, but it is not a permanent fix. I am hoping within the next several weeks to have about $400 to spend on a very cheap used car (i.e. a "Shit box" . I do not care what it looks like, or even what it smells like. I am just looking for something that will run and be able to legally be on the road. I cannot afford to do any major repairs or title searches, etc, So I am putting out a feeler here to see if there is anyone who has anything to offer. We have just had one horrible thing after another happen and I am at my wits end, and I am really hoping that there is some good soul out there who can help me. I can also offer services such as house cleaning or art work for partial payment. Help? Here is the updated list of events in the goth, industrial, and fetish dance-club scene of New England for July.

New England Scene Darkly is a monthly look at our ever-changing scene with an active list of links so you can get more details on where you can go dancing in clubs or events that play music relative to our mutual interests.
New England Scene Darkly also has a calendar view to help you plan your schedules and it is constantly updated through the month.
The calendar is posted at www.SeeDarkly.com

In its default "Agenda" view, the calendar shows the date, name, venue, city and state of the events.
Click the "Month" or "Week" tabs to change the view.
Clicking on the event shows you both the physical and web addresses for the event.
Clicking "more details" will activate the links.
Some events are regular and recur based on a set schedule.
Some do not, so may not be listed past a specific date until future dates are announced.

Though not behind a cut this month because, oddly, there doesn't appear to be any...
I could be wrong and might have missed something, so please inform me directly if I have so I can make the additions/corrections.
I have heard some rumblings of the return of an event and something new on the horizon in NH but nothing is as yet confirmed.
So, as far as I have found, nothing has changed, there are no one-shots or new events, and everything appears to be status-quo.
Many existing events have special celebrations planned within their ongoing schedules that I don't make specific mention of in this post, so check your favorites from the links below for their promotions.

As always, this is an inclusive effort and not meant to knowingly exclude anyone in the NE goth and fetish scene, so if I've missed some vital info about something specific or if something major has changed about an existing event (like broken or more appropriate links,) please be kind enough to let us know about it (but keep in mind that I will not make changes based on anonymous or unverifiable information.)

Crypt was great! It was my first time ever there, and the people were incredible. I enjoyed meeting the people who had danced ( there were quite a few) to my set, and talking with them afterwards, when I was done. Great crowd, wonderful people, even went out to a diner afterwards with some for food.

As for the set: After hearing what was being played in Area 51, and the Main room, I made the decision to play a set that wouldn’t be extremely hard-industrial, or power-noise, but more along the lines of “lost souls”; songs people probably hadn’t heard in a while, but would be pleasantly surprised to actually hear once again. Something along the lines of meeting an old friend again for the first time in a while.

Hope to see QXT’s again soon. Thanks to everyone who came and listened. I had a blast, looked like you did too, and until we meet again…!
