A Few Questions About Pagan Periodicals

Hi! I’ve got a few questions for you lovely people. My friends and I are currently in the process of creating a pagan magazine. We’ve found that the largest and most widely distributed pagan magazines are unfulfilling- being mostly anecdotal and catering to a less mature set.

The magazine we’re hoping to come out with, Thorn, will be an attempt to bring academia and investigative journalism into the market- interviews with the heads of various sects, reprintings of source materials, reviews of music and games, articles on modern and ancient paths, fiction and art. We intend to have a website with content not published, archives, and discussion forums. We want to go the whole nine and make a truly excellent magazine.

I’d love to hear your own gripes and opinions about pagan periodicals or any suggestions you might have for such a magazine. If you have the time, I’d be ever so grateful if you’d pop in and take our marketing survey here. We have prizes!

Kate- Perpetual and Universal Intern
Greetings New Age Community! We are new to Live Journal and excited to find communities like this one...supportive & positive.

We are Tantra teachers living in Costa Rica who teach around the world. We practice and teach Tantra Kriya Yoga, a form of Yoga which uses sexual energy to clear emotional residue and propel us into self exploration & growth.

It seems like something many members of this community would be interested in the work we do, and we love to share cool things we have learned! Here is article on Ipsalu Tantra.

Blessings, New Agers! Their music might sound a lot like the music on WildLife, from indie fusion veteran Gary Paul Bryant. Applying the rock energy of artists like Joel, John and Keith Emerson with lighter touches of Jazz and New Age artists like David Arkenstone and David Lanz, Bryant creates a unique blend of rock, pop jazz and world music that's very unique and appealing.

Thirteen new upbeat instrumentals that cross genres and generations are offered on Gary's 10th CD. Following on the heels of Big World, Legacy and Imaginary Piano, WildLifedraws on a palette of influence that includes classical, world, rock and jazz.

There's no question that the outdoors was on Bryant's mind when he penned these tunes. Each title evokes a unique relationship with his love of the Pacific Northwest outdoors.

The title track WildLife lures you in with a somewhat warm, but tense new-age feel that explodes into jazz fusion within the first 90 seconds. The upbeat and pop rock cut One Cool Squirrel is definitely the most radio friendly tune in the collection whileRaptor Ridge, Burning Hills and Storm on Sucia fuse traditional classical themes with metal rock.

Bryant has seen some success from previous releases. Imaginary Piano, released in May of 2005 included several tracks that still get considerable airplay. Flipside, from Imaginary Piano, went to #3 on the Jazz charts in Australia, while Deliberate Love went to the top 25 on the New Age charts. Big World his last CD release, went to number 1 in the Jazz charts at Soundclick.com

Most of Gary's music is available on CD from a number of outlets including his own web site, GaryPaulBryant.com, CDBaby.com and others. Additionally, nearly all of his tracks are available for iPod and MP3 downloading from his website and other sites including iTunes.com, eMusic.com and Rhapsody.

Take Home Music

370 NE Camano Dr., Ste 5-202

Camano Island, WA 98282

Phone: 206 497-9786

wildlife@wildlifethecd.com

http://www.wildlifethecd.com

http://www.garypaulbryant.com

New Age Artist Miss Kristen releasing "Desert Seas" under Big Fuss Records

With a focus on Adult Contemporary, Indie and Folk Rock as well as Christian music, Big Fuss Records vision has always been to develop into a diverse crossover label. Presently, this New Age offering comes as a revelation to the label.

“Desert Seas” is a mostly instrumental listening journey, produced solely by Miss Kristin. Cheerful, heartfelt and universal “Desert Seas” is what Kristin calls her cure for anxiety.

Kristin is the sole composer/instrumentalist on the album except for one jazz piano spot on the final track, “After The War” performed by Donnie Woodruff of LaRue fame. With writings of a sage and melodies of a prophet, Desert Seas features warm and catchy beats with sparse meditative vocal musings alongside intricate musical meanderings, conveying joy and delight, darkness and light in a comforting rite of passage.

Executives at the Big Fuss Records label are particularly excited about the prospects of marketing this distinct collection, and are looking forward to a September 2008 release.
http://www.bigfussrecords.com

Hi guys,
I'm Aedan. I haven't posted here in a long time. (Been off LJ for most of 2 years)

I apologize if my topic is too far off the mark for this community. But the last time I dropped in I made about three friends and really valued the insight and feedback I received.

I have put a really long post on my LJ about something my guides told me a few years ago and how it lead to a technique I have used to start clearing some heavy negativity I have with my dad.

I'd like any ideas you have about what they said. And I hope that by sharing this other people can be helped as much as I've been. If any one is interested the title on my LJ you are looking for is: "The past and future are just scenarios we spin in order to make the present make sense in a linear time frame."

I know it sounds nuts - but at least it did lead to a useful tool. Though...I do think it's probably true.

Nakedly,
Aedan

Hi, I'm new to this group, and I'm not even sure if I'm in the right group for what I want to post, so if not I apologize!

My question is this; Has anyone ever heard of writing letters to those who have ever hurt you, made you angry, etc. and then ripping them up? I was told that by ripping up the letters, not sending them, will send that energy back to that person tenfold.

Just curious if anyone has had any experiences with this. Thanks!

Living on sunlight, energy of space & liquid nutrition healer from Ukraine

Light that gives life

About living on sunlight, energy of space and liquid nutrition a healer from Zaporozhye

The Sun is the source of life on Earth, there is no doubt about it. But can man live without roughage, on sunlight, energy of space and liquid nutrition? Yes, he can! A healer from Zaporozhye called Nikolay Dolgorukiy is an example of this.

Among people who are interested in bioenergy, extrasensory things and magic as well as in alternative scientific literature there is information about individuals who eat nothing but sunlight and Cosmic energy. They are referred to as suneaters - people who are living on sunlight. In the country of yogis India there are many of them, in the USA and Europe there are some, in the CIS there are only a few.

That's why it is even more surprising that there is a suneater in Zaporozhye who lives (what a fantastic coincidence!) at 1 Sunny Str. The yard of his house, facing the Red Water and an intersection of several streets of Zeleniy Yar, can be seen from afar thanks to a number of pyramidal structures. The pyramids built by Nikolay Dolgorukiy have healing properties and are energetically connected with similar constructions in Egypt and on Mars. But we are not going to speak of them now, we are going to speak of this unique person who has learnt to live without roughage.

Nikolay was born in Zaporozhye in 1957, graduated from a technical college, worked in the North. He devoted himself to spiritual perfection at the age of 33. But it had begun long before that.

Nikolay Dolgorukiy: "When I was 10, my brother died; at the age of 16 I lost my father. These tremendous losses were leading me to the understanding of some truth, to something I could not grasp… In 1972 I came upon a rare copy of a book on hatha yoga. And I started working on myself. I read, collected newspaper and magazine clips, studied oriental martial arts, phytotherapy, psychology… In 1993 I graduated from the University majoring in Bioenergy Information Science and Psychocorrection. Since 1989 I kept a light Christian fast - I did not eat animal food, I ate mostly vegetables. And since 25 August 2003 I have not eaten roughage…"

- What do you live on?

- I gaze at the sun, for more than five hours a day. My record is 13 hours… I go barefoot, sleep outside or in one of the pyramids both in summer and in winter. I drink milk, cacao, tea with honey, vegetable broths, juices. I drink only "charged" water (almost boiling). The energy of the Sun and Space, the capacities of our body regarding photosynthesis and liquid nutrition are enough for me. I even feel my blood renovate.

- Do you have any health problems?

- At first I lost 5-7 kg, but now my weight is OK. I do hard physical work (during our conversation Nikolay was digging a pit to build a new energy chamber). I always ride a bike. There are no problems.

- What about your eyes? One can lose his eyesight gazing at the sun for many hours, can't he?

- As you can see, I have excellent eyesight, I can read well. It is important to do everything gradually and with the help of God.

- But books are not enough to pass on sunlight, energy of space and liquid nutrition, right?

- One must have an aspiration and a connection with God. All my actions are guided by God. I get information about what to do and how to do it as if through an interface. It requires only darkness and silence.

- But you also have a gift...

- Everyone has a gift. Anyone can pass on sunlight, energy of space and liquid nutrition. I don't have secrets. I am eager to undergo a medical checkup that will allow to study the phenomenon of living on sunlight, energy of space and liquid nutrition. In fact, I am happy that there are followers. I am willing to share my knowledge but not with idle curious people, I am willing to share it with those who want to change themselves, those who "aspire"…

According to Nikolay Dolgorukiy, such portal opened on his plot of land thanks to years of hard work. No wonder that every plant grows wildly around it, and a person who visits this place is cured. Nikolay assures that it is not he who heals but the higher powers. His only task is to create conditions for this. With this purpose he has built pyramids and energy chambers (whose shape activates the Space energy regenerating all the human organs and cells).

But not only for this. Man must clarify the Earth around him. In this case life will change for the better. "That's exactly what I do: I build pyramids, plant trees along the Red Water, says Nikolay. The humankind will become closer to Nature if we unite our efforts…" The most amazing thing is that environmental problems do not prevent Nikolay doing what he does: they can be solved. On the contrary: Zaporozhye has been created for contact with God, in particular it can be explained by the presence of Khortitsa, by the fact that magicians, Cossacks lived here once; they were probably ancestors of Nikolay Dolgorukiy and passed their gift on to him. Native land and the Sun feed man with their power. The only thing one must have for this is love. And if we think it over, that's the way it should be!

Zhaporozhye newspaper "Gvozdy"
№8, 2 of June 2005

Nikolay had new personal record in year 2006: non-stop sungazing more than 13 hours — since the sunrise to the sunset.
In 2007 Nikolay Dolgorukiy sungazed with open eyes for 16 hours.

Source of information: Site of Nikolay Dolgorukiy - the first Ukrainian who is living on sunlight, energy of space and liquid nutrition

okay, I have noticed all kinds of changes going on this winter. Not just in me, but overall.

- spate of deaths of friends and friends' friends in January, now there was far too much of this to be co-incidence (in which I dont believe anyway). I couldnt help but think this was actually a meta-soulgroup moving on. I was sad to loose a friend, and sad for other friends who lost people, but I do think that this is a "meant to be", and that no-one is truly "lost" anyway.
- career changes now mine has been on the change from a shop job (bleaugh) to teaching (wheee) over the past year. Basically I was breaking my heart at Jessops, but too bone idle to do more than cry about it. When the company went into the red and we all thought we were going to loose our jobs, that prompted me to look for other jobs, apply for the teaching drama one, and on the back of getting in there, start in on doing my teacher training. A lot of people I know, are being kinda "forced" by events to seek jobs/careers anew. Lost jobs or being terribly unhappy at them, prompting them to seek new and better jobs, which of course in the Earth realm is all another opportunity to experince, and grow personally. However traumatic the change is.
- new understandings I have changed spiritually a great deal over the past year, and thats held a few changes in me, and still throws up suprises and new understandings. a lot of other people I know have also changed spiritually as well.
-ending of old friendships and new ones seeding. I know that I have drifted away from some old friends, and at the same time am forging new ones, just seedling ones. For example, more (sincere and interesting) new penpals have come out of the woodwork this month than in the entire 4 months before. Several of my ongoing friends say the same is happening to them. This isnt the ending of old friendships in a nasty way, this is just a mutual "moving on" along divergant paths.

I have also noticed a change in nature. When Mum and I moved here 10 years ago, there were no garden birds at all. Now in the past year or so there are redstarts, sparrows, robins, blackbirds, tits, all sorts, as well as the obvious seagulls. Skylarks have returned to the fields as well.... While so much bad IS happening, theres a lot of changes, and not all of them bad at all.

Its as if the changes are gathering pace. Now I can often wish for something (like an opportunity to apply for a dream job, which has just popped up) and it will come within weeks. Years ago that used to take years, if at all. Powers to manefiest are getting stronger I think. Just be sure you concentrate on manefiesting postive stuff. You have the power to do either. Its obvious which is more comfy, even without thinking of wider planetary, spiritual and karmic issues!
Changes can be unsettling, in fact they are, but I think of the natural ones such as the ones I describe above, they are to be celebrated. I think the vast majority are positive, although, as with anything, its your choice as to weather you surf that change to where its taking you, or wriggle and struggle and get hurt and even more upset and hold yourself up on your souls evolution.

Forgot to introduce myself! *facepalm*

Whoops, I forgot to introduce myself. Sorry if that came off as rude.
My name is Lauren, and I'm a high-school student who is interested in general metaphysical study and crystals. I am more of an intellectual than anything else, and my main pursuit in the new-age movement is the wisdom and peace it offers. I am very intrigued with the brain and how it reacts to spiritual aids such as crystals (pendulums, wands, stones in general...the whole shebang ^_^), tarot, etc. (I have tried tarot, had a bad experience, but cleansed the deck and gave it up to receive a new one from the universe). Aromatherapy is another one of my interests, but I know very little, and I am hoping to set some time aside for studying it. When I'm not procrastinating, I love to read (I especially liked the Carlos Castenada series), and I would love to hear about any books anyone found interesting.
Thanks for being so helpful with my first post!
-Lauren

Question and advice post.

I've been quite distant with my spirituality lately. I go through it in phases-- sometimes every night I'm meditating and then for two months nothing spiritual ever enters my mind. I've kind of realized that just like with any religion, you have to incorporate spirituality into your daily routine. However, I'm not entirely sure how I want to go about it. Sometimes I'm really stressed out and the only time I have is late at night and early, early hours of the morning (that is, if I decide to stay up that late). Other times, I'm just lounging around the house with hours and hours of nothing to do and find myself totally unmotivated. Or, if I'm in a "phase," then I'll have so many ideas and no patience or self-discipline for all of them.

What do you do to bring spirituality into your daily life and routine? Do you have any recommendations to help me, any advice?

I've been looking into crystals and herbs, too. For a beginner, what're some basic things and tips to know and begin with? I.e., which crystals to get to begin a collection, commonly used herbs essential to a basic herb garden. Also please keep in mind that I'm willing to spend a reasonable amount of money, but prefer to keep costs down. ;)

Balancing Chakras

Hello, I have a quick question about chakra development.
I have tried to work on my chakras, but I've noticed that my throat chakra is especially receptive. I felt slightly unsettled afterwards and have experienced clairaudience a few times during the meditation. I want to develop any abilities I may have, but I feel apprehensive when I randomly hear names or a several voices speaking at once (which sounds a lot like TV static).

Have I lost it, or am I just going about chakra meditation wrong? I would appreciate some help.
~Thanks~

This afternoon I was going about cleansing some of my water-safe crystals and I thought I would share a few pictures as they looked so pretty! ^__^

I don't know about you, but I seem to get a lovely response from my crystal friends when bathing them in sea salt and water. I usually leave them for about 30 hours and then dry them off carefully before charging them with either sun or moonlight on my kitchen windowsill.

The sea salt is in a layer at the bottom of the container. I just place the crystals atop that and then fill with water. Turning the whole thing (VERY gently) upside down usually disperses the salt effectively enough.

Doesn't Chaorite look great underwater?

And the same with tumblestones, but in a smaller tub.

What are your favourite ways to cleanse? I also favour smudging with sage and other herbs and the 'breathing method' for smaller pieces.

Also, which method do you find brings the best response from your crystals?

x-posted to a few crystal comms.

Hello I am new to this community, my name is John. I have just started reading up on Tarot cards and became very interested in them and am starting to learn how to read them. I have just ordered my first deck and a learning book. I am very interested in divination and spiritual exploration. I really can't say that I have any religious views, I am just learning about this all and am very interested, that is why I joined this community.
