He’d glitter sinuously around the apartment, no shirt and smudged eyeliner, singing obscenities over the lyrics. His hips would roll like they did when he fucked.

Oh, and I'm feelin' the love for [info]glam_fic. It's new, mine is the first post, so if you hacve anything that's glam AND new wave, or something more glam than new wave, let's get it off the ground! Go, [info]glam_fic!

I'm wondering if anyone has written any INXS slash with Michael Hutchence being part of the main couple. I'm also interested if anyone has any Bono/Michael stories as well.

Okay, let's just get this off my chest: I don't read fanfiction. But I do like new wave/post punk/stuff made in the late 70's, early 80's. Loves me Echo and the Bunnymen, Devo, The Smiths, Dead Kennedys, Gang of Four, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Wall of Voodoo. (for non-new wave, I adore Sleater-Kinney) So, I'm curious: Echo and the Bunnymen slash, is it out there? I would think it would be obvious: Ian Mcculloch was really, really pretty as a young man. Hm, but who would you slash him with? I dunno, a band member? Julian Cope?

Introduction to one defective corvid

Current Music: Devo- Come Back Jonee
Greetings! I've been into a good deal of New Wave and Post-Punk (as well as old-school punk/ska) artists for a number of years now. I suppose it started really with the B-52's, hearing their hits on the radio and playing at wedding after-party dances. Then through them discovering other bands that I was told "if you like B-52's, you'll probably like them", such as Devo, Talking Heads, and Oingo Boingo. Generally I'm more drawn to and have something of a preference for the darker, edgier types of unconventional, at times socially/politically (even at times sexually) subversive bands that emerged from the New Wave and Post-Punk movements, as you will be able to notice from my list.

* Favorite new wave bands (to slash, and/or just to listen to): Oingo Boingo, Devo, Talking Heads, the B-52's, Joe Jackson, The Boomtown Rats, The Clash, Television, Gary Numan, Cocteau Twins, Echo and the Bunnymen, XTC, The The, The Stranglers, Depeche Mode, Wall of Voodoo, Pet Shop Boys, Thomas Dolby, Tom Tom Club, R.E.M., Pulp, Tears for Fears.
* What are some pairings you haven't seen, but would like to? Too many to list! I'll just name a few of the top ones I'd like to see written about, then. Boomtown Rats: Bob Geldof/Johnny Fingers and Bob Geldof/Simon Crowe, Talking Heads: Jerry Harrison/David Byrne (David just seems so slashable to me), the Horn section of Oingo Boingo threesome! (*evil grin* just because...), The B-52's: Fred/Keith & Kate/Cindy, Devo: Mark Mothersbaugh/Gerard Cassale.
* Other fandoms/pairings you read & write: Genesis (band), Queen, House (House/Wilson), The Lone Gunmen, Gargoyles (animated series), Tim Burton/Danny Elfman, Bob Dylan/Tom Petty, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (primarily Nick/Blixa and Mick/Nick).

Sorry for the rather lengthy introduction, but as it is apparent I'm quite the New Wave and bandslash enthusiast. I also enjoy other types of RPS and fiction-based slash, as you can also see. Needless to say I was overjoyed to find this community. I hope one day to contribute a fic of some sort, but I'm a notoriously slow writer, so it may be a while yet.

Intro post

Posted by [info]kleenexwoman on 2006.05.19 at 14:39
Hi! I've recently become interested in punk and post-punk music, thanks in part to my little brother, who tends to bring home cheap albums...and, of course, I love slash. I particularly like listening to Devo and Oingo Boingo, and I've been listening to Was Not Was since I was a kid, thanks to my dad.
I tend to write a lot of Back to the Future fanfic, and even started [info]bttf_slash for the kind I like.
I bring a link: [info]clowns_de_mort, a community for slash centered around Danny Elfman of Oingo Boingo.
I've been looking for Devo slash--it puzzles me that there's so much slash fanfic about Danny Elfman and Oingo Boingo, but none about Mark Mothersbaugh or Devo.

FREEZE FRAME, to be released in fall 2006 by Rockfic Press, will be a collection of band fiction that takes place in the eighties.

The only requirements are that the stories take place in the eighties and that they feature the members of a band, any band. Stories can be slash, het or gen, any genre, any rating. The stories do not have to be about a rock band--pop, punk, new wave, etc., are welcome.

Submit the full story for consideration as a Word or RTF document attachment or in the body of an email. Stories should not exceed 4,500 words. The subject line of your email MUST BE: "Sub: FREEZE FRAME - [your pen name] - [story title]". Do not send more than one story at a time, but you can let us know if you have other stories that might fit the anthology's theme. Please also include an 80-100 word author bio in your email. Payment will be $5 per story upon publication of the anthology. Submission deadline: August 31, 2006. Email submissions and/or questions to subs@rockficpress.com.

Hey lo, All.

Found this community by way of [info]sidewinder. This is my RPS journal. My 'regular' journal is [info]improperlydone. (Regular meaning more RL.)

* Favorite new wave bands (to slash, and/or just to listen to):
- Slash: Duran Duran, U2, The Cure, Depeche Mode, , The Police, Japan (David Sylvian is too beautiful for words)
- Listen: all of the above, The Smiths, Cocteau Twins (not really New Wave, but did come out in late 70s/early 80s), Siouxsie Sioux & the Banshees, UB40, Adam Ant, countless other groups that were more one hit wonders

* Any recommended websites, archives, stories in your favorite pairings. I want to work on a community link list if possible.
- I can work on getting together a list of stories that I really enjoyed. Some I may not be able to link to as they are posted in the Duran Duran community and are locked.

* What are some pairings you haven't seen, but would like to?
- Hmm... I'll have to think on that. I can't find any Depeche Mode slash. If I could, I'd love to see David/Alan. And though they're not New Wave, I would LOVE to find some RHCP Dave Navarro/Anthony Kiedis stories. If anyone watched their televisions, they saw a lot of cuddling, cooing and kissing going on between those two. And I have to wonder why is it no one can seem to get their hands on the 'Warped' video (where Anthony and Dave started kissing and got really REALLY into it. I only have a VHS copy of it, but it has never come out on DVD, though all of their other ones did. Things that make you go...

* Other fandoms/pairings you read & write.
- RPS - Duran Duran (John/Simon, will venture into John/Roger because Rog is hot and they rhythm is the power), , The Cure (Robert Smith/Simon Gallup), U2 (Bono/Larry, Bono/Edge), SGA RPS (Paul McGillion/Rainbow Sun Francks), Y tu Mama Tambien RPS (Gael Garcia Bernal/Diego Luna), HP RPS (Gary Oldman/Alan Rickman).
- FPS - Stargate: Atlantis (Ford/Beckett, Ford/Sheppard, Dex/Sheppard), eh... not too much FPS it seems.

Hello. New member, nothing for you yet. My intro:

* Favorite new wave bands (to slash, and/or just to listen to): Just Eurythmics. It's odd that I even like them, because I tend to like rock/blues/folk/Americana/Western influences, but what can I say? Annie's irresistible.
* What are some pairings you haven't seen, but would like to?: Annie/anybody. Haven't found any yet.
* Other fandoms/pairings you read & write: Desperate Housewives (Bree/Lynette), ER (Abby/Susan/Neela in various combinations), Battlestar Galactica (Starbuck/Roslin/Cain/Cylons, ditto) Law & Order: SVU (Alex/Olivia), and any actor/character.

Nice to meet you all!

Hi there!

I just signed up to this community and wanted to say a quick hello to everyone who's reading.

Up until now, I've only read and written U2 slash. At the moment, I wonder if there's any Simple Minds slash out there. I can't seem to find any, but I refuse to believe that means there is none. I mean, come on - the fact that Charlie Burchill is the only one willing to put up with Jim Kerr for all those years is at least, uh... something to consider. [Plot bunnies galore, that's what I say!!]

So please, if anyone knows where to find any of that, I'd be happy to know...

Hi, I'm amandazillah, and I'm thrilled about this community. I pimped it. Thank you, [info]sidewinder!

Favorite new wave bands to listen to: The Clash, Joy Division, New Order, PIL, R.E.M, Peter Murphy, The Cramps, X, Echo and the Bunnyman, The Smiths, many more.

Favorite New Wave bands to slash: Well, I haven't tried it yet, but this community is giving me femslash ideas!

What are some pairings you haven't seen, but would like to?: Again, femslash-Deborah Iyell from Romeo Void seems like a natural. I'd like to see some good crossovers (I'm a crossover nut, ask anyone in my fandoms!)

Other fandoms you read/write in: Um, I was in popslash for years (*NSync, Backstreet Boys), now it's Hanson (a seperate fandom really, very different from popslash), rockband slash (My Chemical Romance, The Used, Fall Out Boy), a few media fandoms (CSI, Big Wolf on Campus, Boy Meets World), and Tommy Lee. I adore crossovers and au's and never met an idea that wasn't too wierd for me.

Can't wait to get started!

huh?, blah, bored, meh, amused

February Challenge

Posted by [info]sidewinder on 2006.02.04 at 08:56
How about our first challenge, for those who might be feeling inspired, or looking for some inspiration? Challenges will run for one month (though you are welcome to post a response at any time). If you have an older story that would fit the theme of the challenge, feel free to post it as well.

Since one of the things that got me back into new wave music was VH-1's Bands Reunited series, the theme for this month's challenge is going to be just that:

Bands reunited.

Responses do not have to have anything to do with the VH-1 show at all, just the general theme of reuniting. Could be after years apart, could be after a short break, split or simply a long vacation...it can be however you want to interpret the idea. Be creative.

No word minimum, nor limit.

Yay! I'm happy there seems to be some interest in this community. Most of you so far know me, but for those who don't I will go ahead and do an introductory post, just so you know who's responsible for this madness.

Favorite new wave bands (to slash, and/or just to listen to): Back in the day, my favorites were The Police, Duran Duran, Eurythmics, Pet Shop Boys, Blondie, Men at Work. These days I listen to tons more like Public Image Ltd., The Clash, General Public, English Beat... I'm still a junkie for the music of that time period, and it's not just nostalgia.

Favorite band to slash? So far I've only written The Police, though I'd love to try some other groups. Considering what a Duranie I used to be (and still am, I suppose), it surprises me I haven't written that yet.

Any recommended websites, archives, stories in your favorite pairings
- The Lovely Blue Planet of There for Duran fic...at least, it's the biggest Duran archive I know of.
- For The Police, I seem to be the only person (lunatic?) writing it, and all my Police stuff is up on my fiction site, sidewinder's slash.

What are some pairings you haven't seen, but would like to? I'd love to read some new wave era femme slash...Annie Lennox was my first girl-crush.

Other fandoms/pairings you read & write: Foo Fighters & other rockband slash, Brimstone, Shanghai Noon.

I am going to officially open the community for business today, even though I will probably fuss with the journal layout some when I get more time and can pretty things up a bit.

If there is anything in the rules that is not completely clear or want to discuss, please do so here in the comments--I'm open for suggestions at this point.

Feel free to post a little introductory hello when you join, just to get things started. Something along the lines of...
* Favorite new wave bands (to slash, and/or just to listen to)
* Any recommended websites, archives, stories in your favorite pairings. I want to work on a community link list if possible.
* What are some pairings you haven't seen, but would like to?
* Other fandoms/pairings you read & write.

And I guess that's about all for now. If/when we get some stories posted, I will make sure to update the memories by band/artist for easy browsing in the future. Feel free to post your stories group locked so that only members of the group can read them. Feel free to post any older stories you have sitting around that would be appropriate.

I'd also like to post a monthly writing challenge, if folks would be interested.

Thanks for checking us out!
