| About: | More to the point, people's perceptions of the Conservative Party are changing, and the members of the Conservative Party are changing. At the next general election, there'll be 18 year olds able to vote who weren't even born when Maggie was in Number 10. Labour's constant claims that any current problems are a direct result of 18 years of Tory rule no longer wash. It's now Labour who are awash with sleaze, incompetence and complete contempt for the wishes of the electorate.  We believe in the fundamentals of Conservatism - that people should be trusted to make their own personal choices, and that the country's best days lie ahead - but we don't believe that the stereotypical view of Tories as being crumbling old men with cigars or Little Britain-esque WI members reflects what we are! We believe that nothing is more exciting than making a positive difference through politics. As such, we fangirl over politicians... we enthuse about the exciting latest happenings... and we despair about the complete failure of the other main parties to address the issues we care about. Our most oft-worshipped include...  We believe that the age of New Labour is over, and that it is only Cameron's compassionate Conservatives who can save our country from everything Blair has inflicted upon it. In the words of the next [democratically elected!] Prime Minister himself, come and join us!  This is a Community for the various bits of chit-chat you just won't find in other Political Communities, and as such it may just be full of stuff that you completely disagree with! Well that's fair enough, so just turn on around and ignore it. It's our right to squee over silly fun fantastic things and we enjoy exercising it! Also, if you're a member, please be decent folks and if you feel the overwhelming need to be obscene, crude or generally annoying about anyone or anything Tory then just keep it in your own journal, alright! No vulgarity please - we're British! ;) But that said, this is a Community all about us. Young Conservatives. New Conservatives. And having fun - we don't claim it's going to be the most intellectual community ever! We can chat about anything and everything political we're thinking about, post funny articles and links, discuss issues effecting us, swap tips and thoughts, and most of all help forge links between us lot; the future of the Party!
