I'm in the early stages of planning to start a photography business. This is the research stage, where I gather word of mouth info.
My education involves a Writing and New Media Technologies diploma, where I first was introduced to the camera and photoshop. Since then, I've been creating all manner of art and I've excelled at my photoshopping skills enough that I think I might have a service to offer. This after looking around at a tremendous amount of crap that people actually pay for.
Until demand dictates that I limit my services, I thought about offering everything I can do, including:
Photo restoration
Family portraits
Personal portraits
Animal portraits.
Photoshop services that essentially equate to art, as I assume alot of people might want something different. This is, infact, where I thought I would drum up the most business.

I live around Edmonton Alberta, Canada, if that's of any consequence?

What I need are testimonials and advise from anyone that might have some. Is there anyone in the business that might shine a flashlight on this newcomers path?
How might I best advertise?
Should I stop dreaming until I get a business degree?
Should I limit my services?
Will I not be taken seriously without a diploma in photography on my wall?
What should I include in my portfolio?
Do you have advise on how I might individualize my business, or do you think trying to stand out is wrong?

1) Это ладно, меня больше волнует другое, могут ли коммерческие предприятия со 100% инфестициями использовать спец.режимы налогообложения, например, УСН?

2) ну и походу хотел бы узнать где взять тот самый адрес местонахождения если офис не предвидится еще долгое время? купить адрес входящий в списки массовой регистрации + ПСО? или есть какие-то другие схемы для указания адреса местонахождения при первичной регистрации и получения корреспонденции? И какие ждут связанные с этим проблемы с налоговиками?

Например, есть родственник в Москве. Могу я отдать ему 0.1% доли и зарегить контору на домашний адрес?

So I'm kind of new, new in that I've been a member for awhile but haven't posted yet. I am a fashion marketing major at the Art Institute of Philadelphia. My friend and I are working on starting our own business, mostly alternative homeware. I'm using the business for a Store Planning/Business Ownership class, but really doing the work more for myself than for the classes. I'm coming up with business and product ideas left and right, but the one thing I'm having trouble with is logo design. I just can't come up with anything, I was wondering if anyone had any advice or any good websites to help me out?

I don't know if this community is dead or not, but I'll post anyways.

I just started a new non-profit business that retails pretty much any product you could imagine. All of my profits go to the American Diabetes Association and the Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation. My prices are basically the same as any other online retailer with the exception of where the profits go, under some circumstances I can undercut the retail price dramaticly but not always.

If anyone would be interested in more information on this, or knows some one that might be. please let me know.

I'm also looking for marketing ideas for this business. I was thinking of hitting up YMCA's and the like.

i started my own business back in march and just noticed this community - hi! i'm very young but well versed in the real estate field and recently started my own online transaction management company - i'm going to change the name but it is currently www.help4realtors.com. my main problem has been advertising. this is a relatively new service and i'm not sure how exactly to get the word out. i've sent out about 180 emails (and actually got a client from one) and i have about 2000 more to send out.

i guess i'm just here for support and ideas so lay it on me!
