Apparently, I bought Devilish by Maureen Johnson at some point. I was going through stuff in my room, and... found it. I only find it interesting because I honestly don't remember ever purchasing it, AND it's the book I've been trying to find by MJ for awhile now.

I figured everyone here could understand my excitement at finding it, although I'm perplexed as to how I don't remember when I bought it....

I went to teh hard road library event last night in Columbus, ohio..and it was a total blast! I met a few new people and I got there early and we had pizza, cookies, and soda with John. While eating he chatted with us about hobos ( O_o) and told us some of his misadventures. haha.

I have two SHORT videos that I took and a really nice pic I took of the John. I took quite a few pics, but I don't think I want to post them all. haha.

Who Am I Presentations were Win

So, on Thursday in my Humanities class we had these informal presentations to help the teachers get to know us better. Each student brought in an item that held great importance in who they are and then they stood in front of the class and talked about it and then the kids and the teachers gave them a short QandA and then the kid sat down. I went near the end, seeing as how my name starts with a W.

Of course, I brought in an object that made it easy for me to talk about Nerdfighters and what an influence they have been on my life: My paperback copy of Katherines. I got up in front of the class and rambled for a bit about John and Hank and how I brought in the book cause it sums up almost everything about me, excluding music. It can be used to tell about my love of reading, writing, the internet, nerdom, and even my family and friends.

When I got done, the male teacher whose name happens to be Mr Novrocki (and whose name I just so happen to suck at spelling, so if he is reading this, please forgive me) kicked off the QandA with the brilliant and obvious question "Why do you like to fight nerds?" I literally laughed out loud. I have heard of Nerdfighters being asked this, but, it never crossed my mind to explain it during my presentation. "Well, that's not it exactly. We're like, an army of nerds, fighting for nerds. Not against them." We both laughed and so did the two friends I have in that class (one of them being a Nerdfighter named Amanda and the other being a boy named Vito who is a nerd, but, not officially a Nerdfighter.) I told him that we are all about making the world a better place and he asked if we have any specific charities we contribute to or anything and I tried to explain the Fund to Decrease World Suck. I don't know if he really understood any of it, but, his laughter didn't seem to be at me, it seemed appreciative. Then the female teacher named Mrs Cave asked if I like to write and I told her yes and how it would be cool to win a Printz Honor cause it's a big deal in the YA world and how that's part of the reason why I really admire John Green.

At the end of the class, Amanda drew me my very own Printz Honor medal and then I left the class, almost sure that both teachers were a bit taken aback by me and Amanda (who brought in her sister as her object).

Mystery Thriller Books? Anyone?

So, a co-worker and I have been exchanging books that we enjoy. I gave her Peeps, and she has given me a book called Through Violet Eyes. It actually sounded really interesting when she was telling me about it, and I'm really excited to read it.

I'm currently trying to finish Going Postal, but then will be starting that book. I was wondering if anyone else would be willing to read it along side me for discussion purposes? Or even several people?

I honestly don't know how graphic the book will be, so I can't guarantee content, or even that people will like it. But I would still love input others would have, as I'm developing my own.

Back cover of the book reads:

Now, I normally don't read these kinds of books. I'm more a fantasy/fairy tale bookworm. And reading the back cover (and it's repeating of the term "violet eyes") I know I wouldn't have picked up this book otherwise. BUT! I do have it. I'm hoping it's really as good as she says it is.

Has anyone else read it? Anyone else wanna have a little mini-book club and read it with me?

So now that this place is a little more active, and our member list is continuing to grow, I thought I would kind of open the floor to any ideas people may have for the community?

When I created this community, it was with the intention to bring Nerdfighters together on a smaller scale so we could all get to know each other and share things. With posts not just about Brotherhood 2.0 related things, but just everyday things we felt other Nerdfighters may have an interest in.

Some things have stuck, and others have not. Question Tuesdays (oh Question Tuesdays) is a "if I can remember" thing. By all means.... if it's Tuesday and no question has been posted, feel free to post one! I just link the "Question Tuesday questions" post in it so that people who are new can view the others we've had. That link is on the right side list when you are looking at the community itself.

So what would you guys like to see here? Do you have any ideas for the community? Any activities we could do? Things we can talk about?

I think it would be awesome to do a project of some kind to send to John and Hank to show our appreciation for the community they've created, and things of that nature. Any ideas of what we could do for that?

Another thing I've been thinking about, is that I was hoping to maybe to a contest of some kind for a new layout for the community ^_^ I never intended the one I have to be the one that stayed with the community. It was more of one that I felt would work until something better came along.

And what's a contest without prizes? If people are interested in this contest thing, I was thinking about bringing an extra copy of Paper Towns to one of the get-togethers for John to sign, and then use that as a prize? Is this something you guys would be interested in?

I'm hoping to go to at least the two Chicago-land Paper Town get-togethers in October, and I know John is trying to set up a Wisconsin one in November. (Depending on where that is, I will more than likely aim for that one as well). And who knows if he'll be in Chicago on the actual Tour de Nerdfighting leg of his travels... which means... I have plenty of opportunities to get a signature on a book to give as a prize. And honestly, I would just like an awesome new layout for the community. lol

So what do you guys think? Any and all input on any matters is very welcome!

Sometimes B2.0 makes me sad :( Just because I'm in Canada, and I get so jealous of all the nerdfighters who get to see John on his book tour, or John and Hank on the Tour de Nerdfighting, or who got to participate in the scavenger hunt or now the second hunt. :( oh, whats a girl to do.

How I Found Vlogbrothers: I found Hank in high school over eleven years ago. Noticed immediately that he was made of awesome and claimed him as a BFF right away.
Favorite B2.0 video: Feb. 2nd is fun, because Hank plays guitar hero in my living room and I was with him and Katherine in the Asian grocery stores. And I liked when John asked Francesca Lia Block to say hi to me, which totally surprised me =)
Favorite Hank song: I love them all, I wanted Hank to start doing more music ever since he said "eat 5 sheets of toilet paper while discussing the political situation in Nepal" so musically, on Jan. 5th I believe.

Favorites: (book, movie, tv show, music, fandom, etc) I have many favorites! Six Feet Under was the best show ever. Stand By Me has been my favorite movie since I was six. I seem to listen to Cursive and the Dresden Dolls most lately. I'm currently rereading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, just finished Breaking Dawn, Lolita is one of my all time favorites and John Green is brilliant, obviously.

Anything Else: Well, I sometimes wonder if it's strange for me to be a nerdfighter since Hank is a good friend of mine... But I think all of the Greens are just really amazing people, and I love that so many people are getting to know them and see how awesome they are. Nerdfighters in general seem like such friendly, cool people, and I need more friendly, cool people in my life =D

The way it works... when you friend that journal it will add John's blogs from his website to your friends list here on livejournal. It's very helpful because I tend to forget to check, and usually when I DO check there haven't been updates. So this is a great way to be sure you won't miss any of his entries! :D

As far as comments go. I don't know if your comment goes to his site when you comment here on Livejournal. I'll have to test that >.> (Just did... the comment I left isn't showing when you go look at his website)

Usually when I comment on John's journal, I read the entry here on lj, and just go to his website to write my comment. This way I know for sure it'll get posted where he would have a chance of seeing it.
