The memorial service, reception, and wake for John M. Ford will all be held on Friday, October 27. All are welcome.
The memorial service and reception will be at:
The First Universalist Church 3400 Dupont Ave S. Minneapolis MN 55408 612-825-1701 Directions from within the neighborhood can be found here.
The service will begin at 2 pm. Four of Mike’s closest friends will deliver eulogies; in addition, some limited time will be available during the service for other people to share memories, or favorite short quotations from Mike’s writing.
The reception will be held from 4 to 5:30 pm in the social hall of the church, right below the sanctuary.
Please, no flowers.

In the evening (starting at 7 pm), you are invited to gather for a wake hosted by Patrick and Teresa Nielsen Hayden in suite 215 at the Sheraton Bloomington Hotel, Minneapolis South, which used to be the Radisson South. Local area directions are here.

The wake is a potluck event; please bring something to share (and label it with its ingredients). We will also accept contributions for drinks; any contributions which are not needed for drinks or hotel space will be passed along to the good causes below. (If you have questions about the potluck, please post them here for now. We hope to provide the name of a point person for these questions soon.)

Elise's post of 10/20 claimed the start time was 2PM - this is the first I've heard of a 1PM start time. Which is it?
Have e-mailed MSP to confirm, changed to 2PM as I believe that's right.

Yes, eep! Please confirm the starting time for the service; my plans, other appointments, and previously offered ability to help transport people are all based on the 2pm starting time originally announced.
(I can and will make it at 1pm if indeed the time has changed, but it will take something of a mad dash and I won't have time to pick anyone else up along the way.)
