| New Coed Fraternization Policy |
[Jan. 16th, 2007|11:34 pm] |
To the Student Body of Eupheme:
While this past semester presented a splendid percentile of students with top-notch academic performance, this institute of learning has been crafted not only to promote intellectual growth, but also moral and social growth, as any good school is. Acting in loco parentis as I and the other administrative figures must, we have been increasingly concerned about a number of behaviors reported on campus amongst students who live in the dormitories and also those who visit the dormitories from home.
Unless you are eighteen years of age, smoking is against the law, and absolutely not tolerable at Eupheme. Nor is underage drinking or the use of illegal drugs. However, while these are grave concerns of mine, nothing perturbs me more than the abuses of a coed learning environment that I have personally witnessed. You are here to learn, not to indulge your hormones. Following much discussion, the administration is going to be instituting the following measures:
1. Between the two dorms of MacArthur and Delaney there is to be no coed fraternization in student rooms without an open door. MacArthur residents, if there is a girl in your room, the door must remain open. Delaney residents, if there is a boy in your room, the door must remain open.
2. Also, we are continuing not to institute a "lights out" policy but all doors must be closed between the hours of 10 pm and 6 am. There is to be no fraternization of any kind.
3. Campus security will be posting one door monitor per dorm, in shifts, to patrol the hallways and be sure that students are following this policy.
4. Common rooms are still public spaces, to which these rules do not apply.
5. Failure to comply with these rules will result in disciplinary action, the punishment suiting the degree of the infraction.
Senior privileges have no bearing here, I might add, particularly because the class of 2007 has had remarkable trouble in this field. I don't mind singling them out; in fact, I am most disappointed that they can't be setting a better example to younger students, and I will not be light when it comes to discipline.

| A Long-Expected Party |
[Jan. 2nd, 2007|08:53 pm] |
Slipped under people's doors or found in their mailboxes (depending where they live) is now a personalized, handwritten party invitation, written on a piece of paper looking about a quarter of the size of a usual 8.5 x 11 inch sheet and bordering with ink drawings of small gnome-like people bearing balloons. Everything is done just carefully enough that while there ought to be something kitschy about all of it, things really do look quite forgivably cute.
[Name]!
You are invited by one Ron Tolkien to a celebration of his eighteenth birthday.
It is a PARTY OF SPECIAL MAGNIFICENCE, that is it will be, if you attend.
Held in the MacArthur Common Room on Wednesday the Third of January, 2006, commencing at nine o' clock in the evening, but arrive when you can!
Refreshments served, film TBA, presents certainly not a requirement.
Invitees may or may not note that while there is no BYOB announcement, poor Ron has clearly neglected to say anything about doing the reverse. |

Wenesday, November 22 ...including smashing in the windows of Tommys Arcade and spraypainting obsceneties on the walls of St. Isodore's. So far there are no clues as to who these vandals are...

AUDITION RESULTS THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST
John/Ernest Worthing - Victor Hugo Algernon Moncrieff - James Joyce Rev. Chasuble - Niccolò Machiavelli Lane/Merriman (two parts) - Geoffrey Monmouth Arthur Lady Bracknell - Edith Jones Hon. Gwendolen Fairfax - Jane Austen Miss Cecily Cardew - Beatrix Potter Miss Laetitia Prism - Charlotte Brontë
Gang! Everyone had fabulous auditions, it was a great turnout, and it was a shame having to cut anyone at all; those of you who were cast may also notice that you didn't get the parts you may have expected. However, I think that once rehearsals start you will see why I made the choices that I did, and you will appreciate the fact that all of these parts are reasonably sized, all of them are very enjoyable to play, and the chemistry I saw between various twos and threes convinced me this was necessary. Thank you for your understanding! Rehearsals start on Sunday afternoon according to the schedule posted on my door (and which I'll give copies of later).

((OOC: Due to some competition for different parts, Eve and I did some shuffling around and some general scheming, hopefully there are no major protests here, but please talk to us if there are.)) |

Let 'x' equal all quantities of x. Let 'x' equal "Beatrix". Let 'y' equal all quantities of y. Let 'y' equal mathmatical ability. Let 'z' equal all quantities of 'z' Let 'z' equal "Jamie". Let 'yx' equal "Beatrix's mathmatical ability". Let 'yz' equal "Jamie's mathmatical ability".
If yx>yz, you should vote Beatrix for Secretary/Treasurer on the student council.
yx>yz!
PROOF that you should vote Beatrix

| The Issues? |
[Sep. 20th, 2006|10:59 am] |
(OOC: Aside from the following announcement posted around campus, every member of the senior class recieves a personal invitation to the party in the mail. I can describe the packaging in detail if anyone's interested. I'm too lazy to spam you as much as Edith would...)
Yes, I am certain the Senior class has issues. If you (a memeber of said senior class) think that some of these issues can be addressed by the student council, and should be addressed by the new Senior class President, please attend the festivities hosted Thursday night. (I wouldn't want to conflict with Eliza's bash. No reason to choose between the two of us.)
I have rented out The Red Room for the occasion. A sit down dinner will begin at seven that evening with music and dancing to follow. I envite all of the Senior class to attend. I want to meet each of you and hear all of your complaints, ideas, asperations, etc.
And please feel free to contact me if you're having trouble finding a way there. Transportation can be arranged.

I have decided that in addition to taking a crack at the soccer team and the first fall play, I still can't possibly have enough on my plate, therefore I am running for Student Body Representative— for the past few days I have had some posters up, though so far I have seen very little competition so I don't know who else is running. While some may fear that my commitments to various activities will overextend me and not make me able to devote much attention to a student government position, I consider myself talented at time management, and having connections with various demographics of the student body through the rather different organizations of the soccer team and the drama club, well, I consider that an asset for the position I'd like. I care very much about politics— on all levels, from the global to the institutional— and as liason between the students and faculty/administration, I would start by endeavoring to create an equal balance of power between those who teach and those who are taught. Eupheme is a private school that can operate at least somewhat independently of the state or federal governments' notions about what constitutes education; I suggest that we take advantage of that to build a properly democratic educational environment, and while I have no doubt that others potentially running for this position may have worthy qualities, if you really want a Student Body Rep who works on your behalf and doesn't just tell you the latest news from the administration every couple of weeks, I recommend that you check off V. Hugo on the ballot— V for Victory! |

| | "Starshine" - Gorillaz | ] | Meinen Damen und Herren, mesdames et messieurs, ladies and gentlemen:
There is going to be a costume party at Geoff Arthur’s abode, hosted by yours truly, on Thursday, the 3rd of August, beginning at 9:30 in the evening.
Come as whatever and whomever you please, although the people I have spoken to so far have tended to imply that they will be wearing costumes of a historical nature, so if you’re a trend follower, a suit of armor might be a tall order, but anything you wouldn’t see anyone wearing today is a good bet.
There will be music and refreshments. Re: “beverages” of a certain kind, no one can stop you from bringing them, but Geoff shouldn’t have prior knowledge. And I shouldn’t either. Unless I can have some.

[Jul. 15th, 2006|11:14 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | excited | ] | Hey, people.
The ghost quest to the library will happen on Monday, at 11:00 p.m. EST. Ghosts are more active at night, so this would be a good time to go about doing this. (Also because I have no work then.) I told the ghost in question to wait for us near that spot then, so she'll be there. (she nodded... I wonder why she can't talk.) The spot is near the history section, but we'll meet in front of the library. I bribed the librarian with some wine I had, so she's covered. I'm going to bring a shovel, just in case we do decide to dig, but if we do end up digging the wall, we have to have some plans to patch it up by morning so that we don't get in trouble.
I am a little excited, because this is something I am organizing for the first time. Being social is actually easier than I thought it would be.
Any suggestions? Questions? Comments?
