| About: | This community is for people who are frustrated with the seminary/theological/layperson/church experience. In other words, we are despondant people who feel that our social scene (and, for many of us, the dating scene for that matter) is dead and/or nonexistent. We are those who have made religion/theology/church/ministry our vocation and come to the grim conclusion that we just don't fit in. We are those who find little in common with second-career seminarians with families, people who can't tell or receive an off-color religious joke, holier-than-thous, asocial black holes which suck away all the conversational air in the room, etc. We suffer marginalization in both Church and Society. Often, we're considered too "worldly" or too "churchy". All we want is to go out for a beer (maybe have one or two too many), tell a few good stories, and not have the person we're talking to look at us funny and feel uncomfortable when we say that we have something to do with the church. Ever find yourself in an awkward situation when you exclaim "How Calvinistic can you get?" to your group of friends or when you make a crack about Episcopalian drinking habits? Do you chuckle ruefully when you think of Paul Tillich's sexual pecadillos? This place is for you. | |
