Natural Dyeing- Everything You need!!!

I'm moving later this month, and in an effort to simplify, I am selling off dyeing supplies which I will probably not ever use:

I didn't inventory all of it, since this is something I'm not very knowledgeable about, but...

It includes

-several jars of various mordants, etc- aluminium, pro urea,
-at least five hardcover books on natural dyeing
-about twelve pamphlets and booklets on dyeing, including one titled "I'd Rather Dye Laughing".
-a, er, measuring thing for exact measurements. I don't know what it's called, the box is in German
-about twenty jars filled with different natural dyestuffs. Lichen, walnut, dried plants, lots of very fun stuff
-yarn samples of colors, along with detailed instructions on how to achieve said colors
-About four bags filled with dried flowers or sticks or other dye-stuff.
-Three pillowcases filled with some uncarded wool of various colors.
-A big ol' bag of logwood
-a jar of cochineal

I'll even throw in a packet of rubber gloves.

This is a great way to get into natural dyeing- it's everything you could possibly need, along with lots and lots of books to tell you how to go about doing it.

I'm located outside of Worcester, MA. Since I know that sometimes finding transportation can be a pain in the butt, I am willing to drive all of this stuff to you FOR FREE if you live within 30 miles of Worcester.

$100 for the entire lot, or give me your best offer.

MA sheep and wool show

This weekend, May 24-25 is the Massachusetts Sheep and Wool Show. It's in Cummington, MA, which is 2.5 hour car hike from the Boston area. I'd like to go on Saturday, and would like to go with someone as well. I can drive, or you can if you have a car.

http://www.masheepwool.org/

I'd like to leave on the earlier side, 9 or 10 am or earlier (shivver!) to get the most of the show. Admission is $6.00 per car, and since I'm not planning on buying anything much (grin) I've got car space, or I can fit into your car.

Leave a comment if you'd like to go and you're somewhere close to the Boston area so we can carpool.

nyc/this wknd/crocheted coral reef event

Join the NYU Art Department as they host a lecture and workshops with artist Margaret Wertheim about the Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef Project that is currently showing in Chicago and will be exhibited at NYU in Spring 2008.

The Crochet Reef is an outgrowth of the techniques of hyperbolic crochet originally discovered by mathematician Daina Taimina, and expanded by Margaret and her twin sister Christine to create a wide variety of corals, kelps, anemones and other reef-forms. Now engaging people the world over, the Crochet Reef is a unique conjunction of geometry, handicraft, marine biology, conservation ecology, and aesthetic practice that has been featured in both science and craft magazines. Take this chance to learn from one of the creators of reef-crochet, and hear about the intersection between non-euclidean mathematics and sea slugs!

Franklin County Fiber Twist, northwestern MA

Hope that some of you will make it to the Fiber Twist this weekend!

I'll be at the Marketplace on Saturday, and visiting open farms and studios on Sunday.

Ask any of the volunteers or vendors to point me out, and be sure to introduce yourself to me if you are so inclined.

Diane H K
organizer, Franklin County Fiber Twist

EDIT: You can see me pre-haircut (eek, what a sloppy mane!) on the Merchandise page of the Fiber Twist website. Should help in picking me out of a crowd!
