ADMIN POST: New Challenge: Midnight
The new challenge topic (mostly suggested by [info]zortified--thanks!) is:

MIDNIGHT

What happens in the middle of the night when one day ticks over into the next? What are they thinking? What do they dream?

You have two weeks to write your stories and post them here. The challenge will close at midnight EST on Monday, September 12th.

Remember that fics may only be posted here for the duration of the challenge. Once the challenge has closed, then you may post and archive your story elsewhere. Also, because a couple people forgot (and hey, it can get lost in the userinfo), subject lines should be formatted "[Story Name] by [Author Name]" for the purposes of archiving in the community memories.

And please, do feel welcome to suggest challenge topics in the comments to this post.

My suggestion for a future NCIS Flashfic topic -- "Under the Influence".

What makes them do what they do? Every action, every decision is coloured influence -- parents, friends, colleagues, bosses, circumstances, etc.

Also, because I am a ho, I'm thinking of the sex things that might happen while one is under the influence of a substance that comes from Kentucky in a square bottle...

Oooh. [info]zortified previously suggested "Under the influence" with the influence of alcohol in mind, but I like your broader definition quite a bit. And hey, alcohol is included, too. *g* Thankee!

I have a weakness for Hurt!Tony or Hurt!Gibbs stories.

How about a story where one or the other is hurt/sick/missing, and the team's feelings for the hurt/sick/missing one?

Just because I am working the NY State Fair this week and dealing with the public.... (and someone actually asked me today if jackalopes are real!)
the most outlandish (not stupid... there are no stupid questions... just stupid people) question they've been asked.

What's in a name? First names, last names, middle names, nicknames. Place names, case names, organization names, including acronyms. Taxonomy and fun with latin binomials. Name as metaphor for reputation (defending the honor of his name).

Hi,

I wrote a story for the midnight challenge, but I have no one to beta it. So I was wondering if anyone could help me out or suggest where I can ask for beta-help. It's not long, gen, with spoiler up to Twilight. English is not my first language.

Hey there,

Being primarily a slasher, though I do enjoy gen, I don't know too many places one can go looking for a beta reader for gen fic. The only community that springs to mind is [info]ncisfanfic.

Hope this helps! Maybe if you can't find someone there, they can point you towards another place to ask.

If the deadline for the challenge gets close and you haven't yet found a beta, you could either posted it unbetaed or you could send it to me and I'll see what I can do. I'm very nearly overcommitted, but I'd hate to lose a fic or potential author because they couldn't find a decent beta. *smiles*

I'm gonna try and find help through [info]ncisfanfic and, if that doesn't turn up anything, I think I'll ask for your help, because I promised myself not to post to communities unbetaed story.

made me smile, because I am primary a slasher as well. I read everything if it is well written, but the majority ( something like 80% or more) is slash. Still, since I got a lj, I haven't been able to write anything slashy... only gen. I may need to consider giving in my badge... ;)

My suggestion is: "Friday Night". Be it case, date, shopping, babysitting the neighbours kids, Laundry or whatever. What do the team do on a Friday Night? ;) :D
