AboutWelcome to the NC Howl LJ Community. This community is for the discussion of NC Howls, past, present, and future. This community will be replacing the NC Howl mailing list. Many thanks to Guardian for his continuining hosting of the NC Howl mailing list! But we figure we should get with the times, and a journal community seems best currently.
Just some notes. While this community is set to open join, just because you -join- and -post- to this community does not mean you are automatically invited to the NC Howl. This howl IS invite only (however getting an invite wouldn't be so difficult). Minors are not allowed to attend the NC Howl at all. We do reserve the right to reject anyone's request to attend the NC Howl for any reason (or no reason at all).
It is our goal for everyone that attends this real life event to enjoy each other's presence. Since people of like mind and interests generally get along well in RL, before we can allow anyone to attend the howl, the hosts MUST get to know each and individual attendee on a personal basis (as far as one can on the 'net). This includes spouses, significant others, et cetera. We will judge you based on what we see from you, and that judgement will determine if you will be able to attend the howl. We realize that this isn't particularly fair to all parties involved, however, for some of us, this is the only vacation we get all year long. We want to make sure no one going to the howl has a miserable time.
The NC Howl has a history of immature, somewhat dangerous behavior. We have also been known to participate in somewhat strenuous physical activities. You will need to be mildly physically fit to attend this howl. You must be able to do some moderate rock climbing and steep mountain trails for some of our activities. Anyone that is incapable of doing these physical activities will be left behind for the duration of that activity. If you cannot handle this, we suggest you do not attend.

The NC Howl was originally started in 1997, and is hosted in the Nantahala National Forest in the Mountains of North Carolina. Typically the howl is held in June, however some howls have been held for New Years, and we do plan to host some Fall howls in the very near future. We will post all planned howls here in the main information section.
Currently Planning: October "Autumn Leaves" Howl 2005 - Tentative dates: 3rd or 4th week in October.
Once you have joined the NC Howl, please give us a little introduction so we can start the ball rolling on getting to know you. Please tell us why you'd like to attend the NC Howl, and how you heard about it. Give us some info about yourself, what do you do? What do you like to do? What kind of activities are you looking for in a howl? Et cetera.
