I have a live version of Citizen Erased from 2003 (in Vienna I think) which has a piano interlude after it, which is actually the melody to Take a Bow.

There is no point to this, I was just listening to some old live Muse and stumbled across it...

How to deal with ticket touting the MP way - Let everyone benefit bar the concert-goer! [10 Jan 2008|01:11pm]

ig1234
[ music | Neil Young/Pearl Jam - I'm The Ocean ]

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7179834.stm

Artists and sports bodies should share profits from tickets resold on internet auction sites, MPs have said.

In a report on touting, they have stopped short of calling for a ban, but have told online touts to "clean up their act" because they exploit fans.

Surprisingly Ebay is happy to support this, as well
The Resale Rights Society (RRS) - representing the managers of the Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead and Robbie Williams and more than 400 other acts - has already said it would support a levy being added to resold tickets.

So... their solution to beat touting is to do the following:

Allow touts to continue to make money.
Allow those already making money from the tickets to make even more money (as said on the article, like Ford getting money from used car sales).
Allow sites like Ebay to continue to profit.
Make no difference to consumers, as touts will probably just up prices to counteract the levy.
Effect them negatively, as that means anyone wishing to sell their ticket due to illness etc. will lose money.

But Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis said touting should be banned, and the problem of re-selling tickets should be dealt with by getting people to pre-register and putting photos on tickets.

Commendable, Michael, but thats not the best solution.

How should we sort it? Ban reselling tickets, and force ticket agencies to issue refunds (they will lose no money this way, and still make money because they would probably just pay for the price of the ticket, not the additional fees). That's it. The consumer wins. They can then resell the ticket via normal means.

It's crazy, and this really pisses me off. Benefitting the ticket holder is not what this is about, benefitting those who make money is what is, and what our current crop of MP's are good for. The tout to them is not really terrible, he's a clever little capitalist, and so he can make his money, ticket agencies can get even MORE, and so can everyone else. The loser, even MORE now: The ticket-holder. Doesn't surprise me a Lib Dem backs this.

Simple. But no, they make it more complicated to fuck people over more.

Citizen Erased for #1 [09 Jul 2007|07:52pm]

petercallow
I'm shocked that nobody has posted about this, but the Muse collective are pushing to get Citizen Erased into the singles chart by way of legal downloads. For this to happen, as many people as possible need to buy Citizen Erased this week. As in, like, now. For more information, check out http://www.muselive.com

But seriously, I command you all to buy it. Get over the fact that you already have a million versions of it. You're not buying it for yourself, you're buying it for Muse; for the greater good

Muse have featured in a top 30 poll of the greatest guitar bands ever. In a poll of over 25,000 radio listeners including Kerrang Radio, XFM and Virgin Radio, voted Blur as their favourite, with Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin making up the top three. The monotonous Arctic Monkeys came fourth, and Muse were voted twelfth.

Top 15 Guitar Acts:
1. Blur
2. Iron Maiden
3. Led Zeppelin
4. Arctic Monkeys
5. Pink Floyd
6. Rolling Stones
7. Queen
8. Black Sabbath
9. Oasis
10. The Beatles
11. The Who
12. Muse
13. The Cult
14. Stereophonics
15. Free

Interestingly, Lostprophets beat Radiohead to the number 20 spot. Tom: even more interestingly, the Stereophonics were actually on the list.

That could pass for a half decent list if the Arctic Monkeys weren't there. Stereophinics too, but they at least resemble a legitimate guitar band. No Thin Lizzy or AC/DC too... Surprised theres no Quo as well. Or Nirvana.

Yeh, who cares.

Matt about Wembley support acts [23 May 2007|04:51pm]

lers_13
'While I (matt) was dealing with the visual stage stuff, dom was dealing with all those choices of support bands' ' they're great. The streets are on, CSS is that what they're called? We Are Scientists , Plus we've got MCR on the second day and we managed to get Biffy Clyro too'

'My Criteria was, 'Are they good people to hang around with?' as opposed to what is their music like?'

'So I can say on all counts they they're nice people to hang around with. I can definitely say that'

On Choice of MCR

'Gerard Way and MCR always put on a really good show. With what they've done on this latest album, there's a few moments that I really like. I like their kind of stuff that's around the fringe of what they are. I think what they are is a quite straight - and they're starting to add these elements to their songs. They're good showmen, they put on a good visual show'
'Our recent tour with them was a bit too doomed too quickly to really get to know them that well. They're really nice guys and very friendly towards us, they seemed to enjoy us very much and they were watching our gig every day. Musically our two bands are very far apart, I think there's a few fringe elements where there might be a collaboration, but the heart and soul is very different. But we have a slight crossover'

On Choice of The Streets

'Mike's a really good guy. We Toured with him in Australia for the Big Day Out, we got to hang out with them. Morgan used to play in his band although he doesn't any more, but I'm pretty sure he'll be drinking with them. Mike's really funny - I'm sure Morgan will be very happy to have two bands to get drunk with rather than just one. He's like a walking aftershow party'

I've learnt a lot about Muse fans today from reading things. Half hate the Streets. This is irrelevent as they aren't the type of act that should support Muse. Most seem to love My Chemical Romance... right.

Others are touting the following rather awful bands as support: Kasabian, The Kaiser Chiefs, Klaxons, Kooks, Fratellis, so there's not much chance of anything good. Snow Patrol are too big as are the Killers (other rumours).

Who should support?

The Flaming Lips
Roots Manuva (instead of the Streets)
Dream Theater
Mercury Rev
Massive Attack
Groove Armada
The Manic Street Preachers
Bloc Party

These bands would work. Think how many balloons Flaming Lips followed by Muse would create!

I wasn't going to post this on Nature_1... but fuck it I will. Hah.

[ music | Manics - Your Love Alone/Csokolom - Amari Szi Amari ]

Right. So.

One day is going to have to endure My Chemical Romance and Biffy Clyro.

The other day that I have tickets to will have to endure the complete wrong acts. While I don't really like the Streets, I respect them, at least for album number 1. But for Muse? Idiots. And then they do something more to piss me off. They include an artist I love. Unfortunatly I last saw said artists in the Jazz Cafe last, and it was excellent, because the Jazz Cafe is small. How the fucking hell are Rodrigo y Gabriela going to fill Wembley Stadium? If they pull it off, it will be amazing, but... they can't, their set-up will not allow for it. At a Hammersmith Apollo, Brixton, Manchester Apollo type venue, even Wembley Arena... maybe, as an early act, before like... someone louder... but... NO! Idiots. Whoever booked these bands should be shot. Foo Fighters managed to book QOTSA and Motorhead for fucks sake last year.

Obviously if they are as amazing as they are usually, I will be annoyed.

Invincible is out now. When I've heard this song for a first time, I was absolutely amazed with it. But.... I hate Invincible single. Once Matt said that they had recorded 20 songs during BHAR sessions, but why they are afraid to release those 6 songs which a left. This remix which the've put instead is not even shitty it's disgusting. Today I've recieved tracklisting of the new Manic Street Preachers' single, it's 2-CD set with 4 b-sides and video. Panic! At the Disco's second LP will be produced under the careful eyes and ears of Muse frontman, Matthew Bellamy, the band announced yesterday
Bellamy has also allowed the band to cover Muse's anthemic 'Hysteria', "although it seems that it will live life as a demo, or perhaps a b-side, it's not good enough to be on the new LP" says Brendan. Panic! release their new LP later this year.

muse biography

Muse are a British band made up by; Matthew Bellamy (songwriter, vocals, keyboards, guitar), Dominic Howard (drums, backing vocals) and Chris Wolstenholme (bass, backing vocals). Formed in the mid-90's, Muse have gone on to release two studio albums: 1999's Showbiz, and 2001's critically acclaimed, platinum-selling Origin Of Symmetry. They've also released a double album consisting of a b-sides/rarities CD and a live CD recorded in Paris, France in late 2001, along with over a dozen of singles, several reaching the top twenty. Muse are currently preparing to unleash their third studio album, Absolution, which will be pre-empted by the 'Time Is Running Out' single, released on the eighth of September. Oh, and they ROCK. :D
