day twenty-eight

  • Nov. 29th, 2008 at 12:18 AM
I crossed the finish line today! OOOO:

51,226 words according to my big, hefty, and somewhat frightening Microsoft Word document, some 88 horrible horrible pages long. 6505 for today. I honestly didn't think I'd make it! Phew!

And so we introduce...a new character! 8D Yaaaaaay~ )

From my [info]nanoljers post:

I never thought I'd be able to say this, but I am now the proud owner of an overly descriptive, incredibly raw and unfinished, horribly written, beautiful beautiful fifty-one thousand word novel in progress - plus the added bonus of hours upon hours of accumulated sleep debt! :D I have gotten a good taste of what it's like to tackle the task of writing a novel, and now I know more than anything that I want more. I can see why some of you guys go for 175k! I think I might do that next year, depending on how ambitious I'm feeling. ;) This baby probably could have used a couple ten thousand more words to get the job done, and I will continue to work on it after this month because the job is far from finished, but I am happy with what I have and feel confident that I will be able to pick it up again at a later date and continue with it. (: How could I not? Andy's mother is still stranded in the Utah wilderness! Haha.

I crossed the finish line with a flurry of words, an unexpected burst of enthusiasm and renewed interest in the story, the introduction of a new character, and a random scene idea I got at two in the morning the night before last after reading a good portion of Chris's book on NaNoing. (: If I can do it, believe me, so can you. Just believe in yourself, have fun with it, and never, EVER give up. Even if you're far behind, don't stop writing. (: I believe in you.

HAPPY WRITING EVERYONE! I'll see you at the finish line! :D

PS - Is anyone going to the TGIO party in San Francisco next Friday (the 5th)? I am going to try to work something out so I can go, and I hope to see everyone from the area there!

Love and kisses and best noveling wishes,
Angie

51226 / 50000 words. 102% done!

Oooh, I just wanted to see that obnoxiously pink progress bar go over, that's all. 8)

Goodnight, everybody! Happy writing! 8D I think I'm gonna go play Harvest Moon as reward to myself, haha. Treats, yay! 8D

quick update from the front lines

  • Nov. 28th, 2008 at 9:06 PM

46611 / 50000 words. 93% done!

And counting!

I'm filling in gaps atm, going back and writing in Andy's exit from the hospital. This is good. (:

I have a fairly good handle on how things are going to roll, but I'm past the idea of frantically trying to finish this thing in the next two days. I just want to get to 50k and then I think I'll stop. (: At least, I'll stop writing frantically. I'm realizing this novel is probably going to be closer to 350 pages, rather than the ~100 NaNo will get me. It's a great start, though, and I am not begrudging or belittling it at all. Just saying that I'm realizing how much more work is going to go into writing this first draft before I can even begin to think about going on to something else (what was that called again? "editing"?).

Now I'm beginning to understand why people make 175k their one-month goal rather than 50k - that's about what it takes, at an average of 500 words per page, to get to 350 pages! O: Wow! Rock on you guys!

This was written late at night on the 26th. It was after midnight, so I am calling it the 27th, because I am a cheater, and that is how I roll. 8)

Scattered here-and-theres. )

Yes, I skipped ahead and around a lot. Both scenes are sort of spoilers from later events, so don't read unless you really want to randomly get pieces of information that probably won't make any sense unless you're me or somehow have access to the strange inner workings of my tired little brain. ;)

Anyway, 1133 from that brings me up to 44628 total. Huzzah! Now to eat, re-fuel, and keep writing. (:

ETA: Added up the even MORE scattered bits at the end and ended up with 1310 words! O: Awesome! :D That brings me up to a grand total of 44805. (: Yeah!

Here's the last bit. VERY spoiler-ish, and probably won't make any sense, so yeah, don't read it, blahblahblah. Thank you! 8D )

day twenty-six

  • Nov. 26th, 2008 at 11:19 PM
Nope, I lied. Posting now. Then bed.

Abandoned malls are always creepy. )

I don't have any idea what's going on. Random bit at the end is random.

3204 3247 for the day brings me up to 43452 43495 total. I'm caught up for today but I still feel like I haven't written anything. ._. I'm going nowhere with this. Augh. )X

Brainstorming-type-things. )

Aaauuufdhfguhguhfduhgugdhf. Death. x_x

day twenty-three

Yay for keeping on schedule again! :D

OH GOD, WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO GET OUT OF THIS HOSPITAL ALREADY )

At least I avoided using the word "antiseptic" this time around. 8)

40248 / 50000 words. 80% done!

Oh man, I can't believe I hit the 40k mark! Wow! I know I won't be done by the time I hit 50k, not even remotely, but I'm just going to keep writing and see what happens. (: We'll see!

day twenty-two, part tre!

  • Nov. 23rd, 2008 at 12:47 AM
5046! O8 *dies*

Word count babblings under here. Don't mind me, I'm sleep deprived and delerious. HAWHAWHAW )

I'm sure you're sick of this hospital by now, aren't you. )

Parts are probably really nonsensical in there because I wasn't sure I wanted to keep all the bits in certain paragraphs; I drifted around from thought to thought, and the tentative pieces are written in gray text in the Word document, though of course you can't see that on here, and I'm much too fucking tired to go back and code it all in at this point.

Uuuh. Oh right. WORD COUNT TIEMZ NAOW *fucking dies*

38566 / 50000 words. 77% done!

FUCK YEAH SEAKING. How the hell did that happen? 8O WOAH. Cool beans! 8D *passes out on her keyboard*

ETA: LOL. I totally tricked myself into writing so much. Wow. I r genius. *palmforehead*

So I was totally looking at the remaining wordcount for the day after posting part one. If I had been conscious enough to count part two's word count as well I would only have had 3147 words left for the day, LOL. X) But now I've covered tomorrow's word count as well, so, ah, oh well! Oh god I am an idiot. Hahahahaha. I totally wrote, like...two thousand more words than I needed to. AWESOME. Oh well. It's late, it's done, I'm out. (: See ya tomorrow! 8D

day twenty-two, part two

More stuff at the hospital. Yaaaay. Oh look an old lady! MORE CHARACTERS, FUCK YEAH )

I may or may not go back and continue writing after dinner. I've still got a painting to work on, though, so we'll see. (: That's 5807 for today, though, so I'm doing good! Yay! *celebratory bumwiggledance* 8D

33520 / 50000 words. 67% done!

Only 4813 words for tomorrow? Really? Rockin'! :D

day twenty-two, part one

  • Nov. 22nd, 2008 at 3:33 PM
I have decided to post these in sections as I write them, because it makes me feel more accomplished that way and whatnot. (:

Hospital beds and dressing gowns. )

------------------------------

Oh gosh, I won't even pretend to understand what's going on! I'm just following them, don't ask me why things happen the way they do, haha.

4136 words and counting! Updating my wordcount...nnnnnnow. *clicks*

PS - http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081111170158AA0Q8o5 8)

31849 / 50000 words. 64% done!

Oh god - if I wrote another 4818 words for the day, I'd be right where I should be, well before Sunday. O: Gosh! Well, that might be too much even for me in my completely crazed state of insanity, but we'll see. (: Still aiming for that 5310 count per day and I'll be good. I'm doin' fine, just fine. *breathes* <3

week three pep talks! I need these ):
