So my mom, sister and I went down to the wolf haven in Tenino, and then afterwards we stopped by Shammicats Cattery. My mom thought she was going to hate the cats... But she loved them. If the 2 she had really loved had been available, she would've bought them on the spot. So that seals it. I'm going to get one. I just am not quite sure when yet. Here are some pictures since I know you want to see them.

So I looked around to see if there were any other breeders in the area (my hope for variety and competitive pricing) and I found another little of kittens. They are younger so I'm hoping that means they'll be around longer and give me a chance to raise up my OWN $1000 for the little loves so hubby can't say no. Any money raising ideas?

Or better yet... help me decide! I think I am going to call and reserve one. hehe. I want to go meet them in person first though since it's in the area. Which one do you think is cutest? (this may or may not affect my decision, I just thought it would be fun to have a little poll)

These are some recent pics of my Smooth Criminal, whom I also love to call my "Booboola". The humdity has been horrible in New York City, and well, Smooth had to cope with it. I wet him down (which he hated) and I change his water all the time, putting ice cubes in it. But usually laying on his back and exposing his belly is how he gets through it. Personally, I think he's adorable!

So I just discovered this wonderful breed of cat. I'd always assumed anything hairless would be hideous... Like the naked mole rat. But they are precious! There is a local breeder whose website I visited and I must have one. The problem is that they are sooo pricey. I know why they cost so much, but does anyone have an idea as to how to find a cheaper one? $500 is fine for a cat, but I just can't drop $1200 on a kitten. My husband would kill me. haha. Good thing there are no credit cards in my name because I'm seriously in love with the front kitten in this picture

How am I supposed to resist that???

That being said... When the breeder says the cats aren't allowed outside, they just mean in the common sense don't let your naked cat go outside where they will freeze and be kidnapped sense, right? Like I could take it for walks or carry it with me to my moms etc? In a little sweater.

They say that they are tested for herpes and I must ask... REAL herpes? Since when can cats get herpes?

If I linger too long on thoughts of my beloved, buried in the dirt, the ensuing grief is unbearable. I just can't keep my mind off of his little body, lifeless in my arms. Where is he? Where did he go? I asked these unanswerable questions over and over that night. He was there one minute and gone the next. The light left his eyes. But my mind couldn't process it. And here I am, crying again. From moment to moment, I'm not really sure how to handle it. It's been a roller coaster of emotions, and I want to get off. Just when I think things are getting back to normal, I'm blindsided by my grief. I just want him back in my arms, alive and well.

Advice?

I have a 6-year old Sphynx that refuses to use the litter box. We've tried cleaning it constantly, tried having just her in a room with it, diapers, spray deterrants, everything.

Do any of you know how to make a kitty use the box? I've had her into the vet and she's in great health, so it's not a UTI or anything.

Help! :(

Hi, I just joined this community, not to mention LJ. I adore Sphynx cats. My first Sphynx, Tobias, died tragically and prematurely recently. Needless to say, I was devastated. He was the love of my life. But I have a new Sphynx kitten now. Her name is Inca. I hope that someday she will find a way into my heart, as Tob did, but right now it feels as though nothing will ever be the same.

Hello!

Joined this comm. for nothing more (or less) than that i am in mad love with the breed. Am hoping in the not-so-distant future (within the next two to three - maybe four though i should hope not that long - years) to add (assuming the living situation then is set and suited) a Sphynx to my family (which - at the moment - consists of one furred boy and soon enough some furred fosters). So the unfortunate thing is that i won't be bringing my own little darling to the table. All the same i figured i'd climb aboard in order to admire and comment on the gorgeous babies here!

So greetings to kitties and their human pets!

I met with the owner of Wrinkles. When the two cats met, Scarlet eagerly leaned over but Wrinkles hissed. Scarlet turns out to be the first cat she's ever seen. She was raised by wolves... I mean dogs.

Scarlet is fascinated by this scrawny, hissing, blue-eyed heathen. I tried keeping Wrinkles in the laundry room like all the websites said but after three days she began to cry plaintively so I leave the door cracked open. Scarlet, ever nosy, keeps going in there and sits with Wrinkles, who isn't sure if this bigger, naked, funny looking dog is on the up and up.

Last night, twice, I got the cat fight noise. You know the high pitch "Rrowr!". So I locked Wrinkles back up after the first time. Ten minutes later, she's whining. I let her out. Two hours later more Rowr. I leave it be.

Scarlet is behaving normally and both are eating and expelling normally. I give them treats in the presence of each other and I try to pet them both and compliment them when they aren't being aggressive to each other (this happens like....rarely and never for long).

Any tips? I'm trying Wrinkles out for a month to decide whether or not she'll be a good fit. When will it be apparent that they are not going to be buddies?

Edit: I do keep Wrinkles in the laundry room when I'm at work. Should I let her out?

Wow, it's been a while since I posted here. I thought I'd give an update.

I purchased Scarlet but I found out from my vet that she:
1) Is not Show Quality
2) Has a birth defect where she had no front teeth
3) Has Herpes

Shock and amazement! I thought that I had done all the research and asked all the right questions but I missed some! Lesson learned I guess and she was at a discount. Besides, she is freaking the most awesome cat ever in the history of cats.

I happened upon a listing for another sphynx one a year younger that Scarlet (Scarlet is 2 on the 19th). I play with Scarlet but I think she could do with a friend when I'm at work so I think I want to get another. This one will be a blue-eyed torti (currently named Wrinkles).

Any thoughts?

I'm trying to clicker train Noble Scarlet to "Come" and "Sit" and also to acknowledge her name. I speak fluent canine so training them comes easy for me. Any hints on feline training?

She's from the WannaBeNaked cattery which is closing. Her father was Amajen Carcass of WannabeNaked and her mom was Apophis I'm A Barbiedoll.

I don't know what to name her but I have some ideas and I'd like some too!
