mydarkestsecret is a LiveJournal sponsored community for the upcoming movie "Blood & Chocolate" (based on a young adult novel of the same name by Annette Curtis Klause). It opens January 26 in theaters nationwide.
Imagine you're surfing through LiveJournal one day and find the journal of a young woman named Vivian. She's writing about fantastic things, things you always thought were fiction, but she says she's living them. She doesn't seem crazy -- not like some people on LJ do, at least -- and the story she tells is vaguely creepy, vaguely compelling.
She says she's looking for advice. You get the feeling she's desperate for someone to believe her, someone to reach out and offer her the sense that someone's listening. She could be anyone you ever met on LJ: a little serious, a little scared, a little funny and a little crazy.
So what the hell. You'll friend her to see how her story plays out. Maybe leave her a comment or two, reassure her that there are people who believe her and want to help. She seems friendly enough when she comments back to you, but you get the sense that she feels like she's running out of time, because there's a growing hint of desperation in her entries.
But what can you do? She isn't giving you enough information to be able to find her to help in the real world, and every time you try to suggest that she get some help from someone around her, she gives you another reason why she can't. All you can do is sit and read, offer her what advice you can, and watch and wait to see what happens next.
She's giving you a window into another world, one you always hoped or feared or suspected might exist out there. It does. She's living it. And never forget: we all have secrets. She might be telling you some of them, but there are others she'll never disclose.

vivian, the fictional journal of the main character of the movie "Blood & Chocolate", will update the community every day until the movie's opening with another chapter of her life. We encourage you to leave comments for "her" and interact with her as though she's another LJ user. "She" will respond to as many people as she can.
There also may be information, trailers, screenshots, and other things posted by the "out of character" maintainer journal,blood_chocolate. These posts are the place for out-of-character discussion of the movie and/or the community.
Nobody will bite you if you comment to one ofvivian's entries and don't play along, but it'll be more fun if the comments to all of those entries stay in character!
Community membership is open, though posting is moderated. Join the community, read Vivian's daily entries, and immerse yourself in her life and her world.
We ask that you keep your comments here respectful, on-topic, and suitable (more or less) for a general audience. We reserve the right to delete or screen comments that we feel violate these guidelines.
(vivian is jointly played by a member of LiveJournal staff and a LJ volunteer. We promise we'll do our best to respond to everyone who's taking the game seriously. We're also doing our best to avoid spoilers for the movie -- we consider anything that can't be guessed from the trailer mostly off limits, and the storyline of Vivian's journal ends well before the movie does.
