Request for Tech Advice
What Windows OS virus-checker do you use, and are you happy with it? (I've gotten a bit fed up with ZoneAlarm and want to know alternatives.) Bonus if it's freeware, but does anyone rely on Spybot alone, with or without that annoying TeaTimer?

My parents have been looking at retirement communities for the last couple of years, but they've been very unenthusiastic about anything they saw and very ambivalent about moving out of the house that we moved into when I was three.
So I was pretty gobsmacked last night when Mother called at a time when she's normally getting ready for bed to say they found a place they LOVE, the house is already on the market, and they move in January.
!!!!
(They say it's because we kids should have one last Christmas in the old house. However, later in the conversation, it started to sound a lot like "we need you kids to provide 4 extra hands and 2 extra cars to help us move stuff." I am amused.) |

Poetry - Light Ok, I have finally gotten up the guts to post one of my original works....ugh! Light
I am in darkness, around me I hear the other beasts shuffling and jostling for position,
I feel the nicks and gouges from their claws as the scramble for what they think they need.
I am different; the others hate me and often rend and tear at me hurting.
I know there is more to life then the hunt for hollow things such as
MONEY……………POWER…………..PRESTIGE
I look and see a light coming towards me, drawing near I see it is one like me,
But also unlike me, for you shine with a light that seems blinding after the darkness.
I move closer to you, seeking your light even though I had never missed it before.
I know you hold the key to those things in life that lead to contentment
LAUGHTER…………. WARMTH…………..HAPPINESS
You welcomed me to you, shining your light on me, dispelling the darkness
Showing me the beauty within and making me beautiful without, bringing joy to my soul
The others backed away, afraid of the truth the your light showed, ready to attack, for you were different.
I swore at that time to protect you from those who would rend, because you were
SPECIAL ……………CARING ……………THOUGHTFUL
I tried as the years went by to keep their claws from you, and ease the hurt when they scored
But in my struggles and in my efforts I found myself tearing you as well, with out malice
And without forethought; I find that I have hurt you and my own soul bleeds, unable to see you hurt
But your light never leaves me, you keep it shining on me, illuminating the darkness

Some rambling. I really am determined to go to Dragon*Con next year. If only I could find people who want to go.
In the meantime, New York Anime Festival is at the end of the month. And MangaNEXT is at the end of next month. So, I'm concentrating on them at the moment.
Also, I've already e-mailed AnimeNEXT about working staff months ago. They responded, saying they saved my e-mail and would get a hold of me once they're putting together AN'09. I really want to do cosplay. I wish I had the time, though. I want to make a Halloween, and I told Andrew, but he doubts I will. Not that I can't make it- he's quite sure I physically can- but I simply have no time to. Between taking 19 credits and working 27 hours a week, I'm barely going to have time to sleep. And he's absolutely right. Hell, I have work at noon tomorrow, but I haven't tucked myself into bed yet.
I have to have my Art Appreciation assignment sent to my prof before Monday 1pm. I'll do that Sunday.
I really want to write MOAR fan fiction, but looks like I won't have time for that, either. I have a plot bunny that needs entertaining, but I can barely stay awake to write this.
I'm going to read some more of Jane Eyre, despite my sleepyness. Current Mood:  tired |

Sikhs don't need no education, according to our Government I have just read an asylum case in which the Home Secretary argued that an Afghan Sikh family whose children were unable to attend school due to harassment on the basis of their religion were not being persecuted and should be returned to Afghanistan. really want the 1956 film version of 80 days now xD can't believe how much I'm liking this! Dad says there's a shop in sham shui po that has lots of copied movies from china, but many of them are old ones from the west so i might be able to find it there. i hope sooo~ the new one is crap (never seen it but if it has jackie chan as passepartout then its guaranteed to be rubbish ): PASSEPARTOUT IS FRENCH OKAY. even if jackie chan is awesome and chinese) but I want to see a film so I shall settle for the one that was made 50 years ago! Yay =) And I don't usually like old writing etc either!
Also: The office is a very weird show xD but interesting and steve carrell is a really good actor! |
