I was wondering, wouldn't it be good if, when you claimed a couple, you got a banner? It could have the community name on it, the pairing, and link back to my_otp. Then members could put it in their userinfo. So it would be a nice banner as well as advertisement for the community. I would be very happy to make the banners, if you think it is a good idea.

Okay. I've been asked it before, and now, with this community [thank you everyone for joining!!], I'm just gonna spit it all out.

I have to admit; I always liked the stereotypical, "nice" couple. In my X-Men phase? I was obsessed over Scott and Jean, who by most are considered to be boring and typical. Then LOST came along.

In the first episode, I had no favorite pairing. Jack and Kate; they just didn't have the chemistry. Granted, it was one episode, and a lot was going on. There wasn't really TIME for chemistry. So I settled, figuring I would fall for the pairing sooner or later. And I was wrong, once again.

In the second episode, Sawyer had his moment to shine. I hadn't really even noticed him the first episode; as he was briefly on the screen and had no lines. From the moment Sawyer pulled Kate into him, they became my OTP. I don't know what clicked. They just seemed so perfect together. And as time went on, it even became moreso.

I loved the bits between them in "Tabula Rasa" and "Walkabout", the third and fourth episodes. Their connection in Tabula was amazing, even though Kate wasn't too thrilled about him. I loved Walkabout; he protecting her in the beginning is one of my favorite scenes, only if it only lasted for a second.

"White Rabbit", number five, really heated it up. It was the beginning of their more intimate chemistry, which is just so much fun. He adores her touching him, if only for a second. Sure, he's a con, and that's his nature. But their relationship seems to go deeper than that.

"House of the Rising Sun" brought an adorable conversation on the beach. Kate seems bored with him, and Sawyer seems almost desperate to get her attention. His mention of Jack and Sayid liking her only proves his own crush further.

"The Moth". Wow, this one had some mixed emotions. In the opening, he was his normal flirtatious self, and she did her usual ignoring. Kate was infuriated when he joined she and Sayid, and becomes worse when he tells her Jack is "dead". The look on his face after she runs away, leaving him for Jack, kills me every time. I think that one look says it all.

"Confidence Man". Gah, how I love this episode. Could their relationship get any more obvious? He flirts with her practically the whole way through, and then there's the kiss he steals away from her. But she does seem to enjoy it, no? And after she hits him, his pain looks further than physical. She's worried about him when Sayid goes after him with the knife, and stayed at his bedside until he awoke. She looked upset, for the first time, when he yelled at her to leave. I think this episode set the basis for their relationship.

I'm gonna stop episode-by-episode right now, otherwise I'll never shut up. But I do have to talk about the ending of "Born to Run" and "Exodus Pt. 1".

In the end of Born to Run, we see that their relationship isn't just sexual tension, or a little island fling. He tells her, somewhat painfully, that there is nothing on the island worth staying for. After a long silence, and what seemed like near-tears from her, she simply tells him to be safe. He hesitates, as if wondering why she didn't take her chance, replies with a solemn "yeah", and leaves. And she just watches. That whole scene shattered my heart to pieces.

Then Exodus. Talk about shattering hearts. She's looking for him, to say goodbye, and he's no where in sight. Even as she's going off with Jack and the others, she is constantly looking back for a sign of him. Then, before the raft leaves, Sawyer is doing the same thing before. He stands alone, only looking for her, as everyone else says their goodbyes. And then he gives up, and later on the raft he acts like he's ready to die. I didn't think I would stop crying.

Most people think their relationship is nothing more than sexual tension. I highly disagree. You can tell they care for eachother, and deeply. They understand eachother. They're the two outcasts, fighting together to survive. They both did terrible, unforgivable things. They keep eachothers' secrets, at least for the most part. Maybe it's love, maybe it's not. But it is something, and I lean toward the first.

I don't know why, but I just think this was the most unique idea for a community I've seen as of late. Such a great way for fans to see other OTPs and learn about pairings in fandoms that they may not be familiar with. Yah for sharing the obsessions!
