Disclaimer: This is roleplay. It's all fake. We're nerds with nothing better to do than portray the musicians we admire. We do not claim to be these people, nor do we claim to be associated with them. While the places and people are real, the events taking place are 100% fiction.

Midwest Love Affair is a slash roleplay community centered around the members of our favorite bands. It is set in Minnesota, in the Twin Cities- Saint Paul and Minneapolis. The streets are busy and crowded, and there is always something big happening. Check out our list of nightlife hot spots for places to drink and dance. Not into the party scene? That's fine, because there are plenty of interesting stores, museums, parks, and coffee shops, and local bands play every night at a variety of venues. There is something for everyone- you'll just need to find your niche.

The rules here are simple.

One - Your character needs a journal and AIM. Duh. Have them both relate to him or his band in some way. Journals must be used for this community only; it's fine if you use their AIM screenname in other communities as well.

Two - This is a slash roleplay. SLASH. Boy-on-boy. Penis-on-penis. Do not apply as a girl or a penguin or an alien or anything else, please. I'm generally a nice person, but that will make me laugh at you. And will result in an auto-reject, obviously. Don't be stupid. We accept musicians/techs/merch boys/security guards, etcetera, as well as actors or models if it seems like they will fit in with the group.

Three - KNOW YOUR CHARACTER. There is nothing more annoying than a cocaine addicted Patrick Stump or an emo, self-mutilating Gabe Saporta. Period. If you want to play someone but don't know much about them, research them. Read interviews they've done.

Four - This community is NOT AU. Pete Wentz is still Pete Wentz, bassist for Fall Out Boy and part-time douchebag. However, you do have a bit of leeway here. Your boy's band is touring or flying off to record in New York, but you'd rather keep him at home in the cities? That's cool with us.

Five - Roleplaying in this community takes place over AIM, and it is done storybook style. HOWEVER. Your screenname is a way for other characters to contact yours. Therefore, in character AIM chats will also take place. When roleplaying in storybook format? Three line responses are not acceptable. This is a community for people who are talented at writing and who genuinely like to do it, and there is nothing unreasonable about expecting a solid paragraph- with correct grammar and punctuation. It's not that hard, guys. You learned it in third grade.

Six - Be friendly. Be polite. Be cool. If you're an existing member, make newer ones feel welcome. If you're new to the community, introduce yourself! This is a community. Make friends with everyone. If you don't care for someone OOC? Don't talk to them OOC. It doesn't mean you can't roleplay together. Don't bring OOC into IC. Along with this? Respect your fellow players. Follow the motherfucking golden rule. If someone's not comfortable with the direction an rp is going? Stop. No questions asked. God-modding is also unacceptable. Also, it should be common sense, but please respect your MOD. She's a pretty chill gal, but if you give her a reason to remove you, she'll do it.

Seven - OOC drama/harassment/disrespect/etc. is not cool, guys. NOT. COOL. And not only is it not cool, but it will absolutely not be tolerated. Any issues of any kind should be taken up with your MOD immediately, and if they are not resolved, you may be asked to leave the community.

Eight - Activity is key. If you're not active, you'll be removed from the community. It's as simple as that. Livejournal updates are required every two weeks, and it must be something substantial. A few sentences won't cut it. If you're active and you are interested in having more than one character, that's fine. Just make sure you play with all of them. Character limit is three, but this may change in the future.

Nine - MPREG/Adoption/Marriage. They're all cool here, but they're definitely in moderation. If you're interested in any of the above for your characters, okay it with your MOD before you go ahead with anything.

Ten - Comments, questions, suggestions, and complaints all go to Alli. She's more than willing to help you and listen to what you have to say, for real. To prove you read the rules, the subject of your emailed application needs to be "Twin Peaks Afternoons."
