Tutorial 6: Twicon
[info]lali_sweety requested a tutorial for this icon:

While I did in fact have the psd for this, it turned out that I had flattened lots of the essential layers, basically rendering the psd useless. Long story short, I can't remember exactly what I did, but after a bit of experimenting, I made a copy that's pretty darn close, if I say so myself. So here we go:

tutorial for the blending )

Done with blending! Wheeeeeee. Merge the image layer with your background layer, crop, resize, whatever, in your method of choice. Just as long as it ends up as 100x100. Mine's like this:

Yay, another tutorial! First one for me this year, I think?

Anyways, this is a tutorial I just posted at [info]severalplums , so I figured I should post it here. [info]severalplums is a great icontest comm where if you win, you post a tutorial for the winning icon. I didn't get first place, but I got a mod's invitation to post a tutorial anyway! So go and check the comm out, it's a very original idea and a fun one too. :)

In 9 steps, we're going from to

Made with Photoshop CS3, involves no selective coloring, so it could be translatable, I suppose. :)

right this waaaaaay )

Tutorial: Blending
After a hiatus that lasted a bit over a month, I'm back! Yay!

But still, I can't make updates as often as I'd like to. I still have other work to do, as well as everything else that's part of everyday life and my extracurricular schedule. But I did have a bit of time to write a Photoshop tutorial.

[info]antios suggested that I write this tutorial a few weeks ago. (Sorry it's so long in coming! I really didn't get enough time to sit down and write it until now.) I suppose everyone has their own way of blending, and this is mine.

(This tutorial is for Photoshop, so I'm not sure if it'll translate to other programs, though it might.)

[info]mooie_ogen  suggested that I write a tutorial on how to make this icon:

Truth be told, I couldn't remember exactly how I did it, but after a bit of experimenting in PS, I remembered the coloring and such that I used.

Uses Photoshop CS2, includes selective coloring. Credit for some of the coloring layers goes to this tutorial.

[info]antios suggested that I write a tutorial on how to achieve the coloring of the header of my personal LJ. I decided to use the same picture, though in icon form.

We'll be going from this: to this:

Made with Photoshop CS2, requires selective coloring.
