2. Participation in the Portfolio




1. While the portfolio itself is open invite, membership in the community is moderated; you must be approved by one of the moderators to join. This is not meant to restrict participation, but rather to ensure that all members understand the rules of the portfolio. We ask that you join only if you are serious about participating in the portfolio.


2. By joining this community, you are committing yourself to submitting a piece for this project. While I understand that things often come up at the last moment, the moderators need to be kept up to date on who will be appearing in the final portfolio.


3. All updates and news posts with regards to the portfolio will be posted to the community. There will be no mass e-mails sent out at any point.





3. Song Choices




1. Deadline for song choices: by may 15th.


2. Song choices, including Artist, Song Title and Album should be submitted to both tyreenya and lothaekor


3. In the event that we cannot determine if the song you have chosen is an actual song, we reserve the right to request a copy of the song for verification.


4. There is a limit of one song per song artist on this portfolio. We want to inspire curiosity in people and get them listening to new music, not just whatever happens to be popular at the time.


5. Due to copyright laws, and the costs of acquiring proper licensing for songs, we are not able to include MP3s of your song choices on the CD.


6. You are welcome to use your own original music creations as inspirations for your portfolio piece. You are also permitted to submit an MP3 of your song to be included on the CD, so long as you own all rights to that piece. In the event that you wish your audio featured on the portfolio CD, we will require a signed waiver giving us permission to include and reproduce the MP3 track for the purposes of this portfolio.





4. Portfolio Submissions




1. All pieces submitted for the portfolio must adhere to the following standards:




• Characters depicted in the pieces must have animal traits. They may be were, anthropomorpic, quadrupedal, etc. Humans or half humans are not permitted in any piece appearing in the portfolio.


• Artists must show a decent grasp of anatomy in their piece.


• Pieces must have no higher than a PG-13 rating. Tasteful nudity is permitted; however, there are to be no "fleshy bits" in the piece.


• Pieces must not use excessive negative space and show good composition.


• Pieces must convey a certain level of professionalism. While it is not expected that you will spend weeks on a piece, it is expected that you will put forth a reasonable effort. Any piece appearing to have been done at the last minute will not be accepted.


• Pieces can NOT contain lyrics from the song that inspired the piece. The lyrics are protected by the same copyright terms as the pieces are, and thus cannot be reproduced without proper licensing.


• Any questions or concerns about these standards should be directed to tyreenya.




2. Pieces must be original! They must have been created specifically for this portfolio.


3. Completed pieces must not be smaller than 5"x7" in size.


4. You may submit as many pieces for the portfolio as you wish; however, only one piece will be included on the CD. The portfolio restrictions will only be in place on the piece that makes it to CD, any other piece submitted is freed from the portfolio's restrictions.


5. Submitted pieces must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi, and be submitted in PSD, PNG or JPG formats. Note: This is not the final resolution that will appear on the CD. The high resolution allows for better example pieces to be printed.


6. No late entries will be accepted! No exceptions. The due date is the latest we can accept submissions and still complete the CD in time for Anthrocon 2007.


7. Please retain a copy of your submission file, preferably on a CD/DVD in the event of catastrophic data loss.





5. Usage Restrictions on Submitted Pieces




1. Prints are Restricted. No Prints are allowed to be made until a certain number of CD's are sold, which will be determined as soon as we know the edition number. We want to ensure people have reasons to buy the entire Portfolio CD rather than just a few choice pieces. After this number is met, a limited number of prints are allowed, which is also still to be detarmined. Prints MUST be numbered, and include a certificate of authenticity. If you have done a digital piece, you may print out ONE (1) print at any size to act as your original. This Original will not count toward the Limited Edition Print, but MUST include the "Original Piece" certificate.


2. You are entitled to sell the original piece once you have confirmed receipt of your submission by the moderators. Originals MUST include a Certificate of Authenticity (certificate itself will be provided by one of the mods)


3. You may post your completed piece or WIP sketches on your website/art gallery/etc so long as the following conditions are met:




• The piece has a large watermark over the entire piece, indicating that it is a part of the "Symphonies in Fur Minor" portfolio.


• The resolution of the piece does not exceed 72 dpi.







6. Portfolio CD Distribution / Sales




1. The portfolio will be a limited edition series of CDs. (Number to be announced)


2. CD's will be sold this year at Anthrocon at its own table. Participants are not required to help maintain the table, but will be rewarded for doing so.


3. There will be an artist's fee required from each participant prior to receiving their share of the remaining CD's and profits. This fee goes towards covering the materials and production cost for the portfolio.


4. The amount of the fee will be determined and posted at a later date.


5. Each artist will recieve an "Artist CD", one of the first numbered CDs. (ie: if there are 50 artists, then the first 50 CDs are "Artist CDs") The Artist CDs are not to be sold under any circumstances. (Pending)


6. CD's will be sold at the Anthrocon Table only. If there are CD's left, they will be split among the artists.


7. If you are unable to attend the convention, you may request that your share of the CDs, if any to be redistributed, be given to a friend, or mailed to you. If you want your CDs shipped to you, you will be responsible for all shipping costs incurred.


8. You may ask that your CDs be given to another artist for them to sell on your behalf, and/or to handle the profits for you. All such arrangements, such as who will sell them for you, and how you will split the proceeds are the artist's responsibility. Neither tyreenya, nor lothaekor can sell your share of the CDs for you.





7. Posting Artwork within the Community




1. All works in progress, concept sketches and finished pieces posted to the community must be friends-locked!


2. If you do not have a reliable webhost on which to host your images, get in touch with lothaekor for alternate hosting arrangements.


3. Constructive criticism on pieces submitted is welcome, but flaming will not be tolerated. If you cannot back up every negative point you wish to say with at least one viable suggestion for improvement, don't bother posting.
