musicon100! In no way shape or form original, this community was inspired by similar icon challenge communities such as iconfiend100 and icons100. What sets this community apart from the others is that - you guessed it - we're focused on music. Artists from any genre or language is welcome :) The subject you choose can be a single person, a whole group, or even a pairing.
So how does this community work? Put simply, anyone interested in participating can claim a subject that will be theirs alone for the duration of the challenge. As implied in the name of the community, the challenge here is to create 100 icons of the same subject, using a list of themes that will be given. It's up to you as the icon maker to interpret them however you want, but you don't need to be an expert to join; anyone is welcome to try their hand at this! Still interested? Then read on!
R U L E S
- You must be a member to participate in this challenge, so before you do anything else, please join the community. Anyone's welcome to join the community, but posting access will only be given once your claim has been approved.
- This community is focused solely on musical artists only. Icons of artists in TV and movie roles are not accepted. A screencap or picture of Lindsay Lohan in Mean Girls or Gackt in Moon Child would both fall under that category.
- You may claim a maximum of two subjects (person, group, or pairing), but they must be from different fandoms. Once approved, it will be up to you to complete the challenge of creating 100 icons for each of your subjects. There is no specific time limit, but if no posts were made for a subject in an unreasonably long time (eg. 5-6 months), the claim will be void and the subject will be free for others to claim again. Also, claiming two subjects at once does not mean that the time you get to complete the challenge will be doubled; you will have the same amount of time as everyone else to complete your 200 icons.
- Claims are accepted on a first-come first-served basis. Only one claim can be made for each subject at a time; however, you may claim the same subject once the other person has completed their challenge, or has decided to drop the claim for whatever reason. Click here for the claims post, where you can view the list of claimed subjects and make your own claim. Be sure to read the guidelines provided for claiming!
- Although singular artists can appear in an icon with any other person, please try to keep the main focus on your subject. However, if a pairing was claimed then both people must appear in all icons together. If you claim a group or band, each icon must include two or more members of the band (obviously if there are two members that counts as a duo so both must be included).
- There is no rule dictating that you must post all 100 icons in one go. You can post your completed icons in batches, and not necessary in the same order as the themes either. Just as there is no specific time limit, there are no restrictions as to how many icons you have to make at one time, nor are there requirements as to how many posts you have to make per month.
- If your icon post contains more than three icons, please place them behind a LJ-cut. A maximum of three teaser icons are allowed. Although pairings of all kinds are welcome here, please be considerate of other people. Label your post with appropriate warnings, and if it contains icons of graphical nature, they must be placed behind a LJ-cut. Banners are allowed in posts so long as they do not exceed 365 x 365 pixels, any bigger and they must be placed behind a cut.
- Please create new icons for the challenge. It defeats the whole purpose if all you're going to do is rummage through your older works and pick out icons that pertain to the themes to repost.
- A part of the challenge is to use all 50 of the themes given to create icons. There is no exception to this rule. However, the themes can be interpreted as loosely as you want; for example, blue can be used as an overall colour scheme of your icon, or you can include text such as "Misty Blue", or it could even be a textless icon of someone who looks unhappy. Let your imagination run wild!
- The remaining 50 icons can be made in whichever way you want; there are no set themes for them, and as long as they pertain to your subject then anything goes! Multiple icons of a single theme are allowed, but they will only be counted once. To keep posts more organized, please post all multiples of a single theme at the same time.

Song Download(s): [this is completely optional, but it's a great way to expose those who may be interested to music by your subject. You can also add a description of the song if you like as well, such as why you like it, etc.]
As you may have noticed, there is an extra category to the standard format for posting, and that is a song download. While it is optional, I really hope people will try it out. It can be just one song, and it'll let people who're interested try out the music by the person/group. You will also get to pimp out the artist that you love so much (enough to want to create 100 icons of them)! :)
- If you are posting icons for two subjects at the same time, please make separate posts for each subject.
- Once your challenge is successfully completed, drop a comment in the Completed Challenges post so I could free up your subject and at the same time get to work in making a nice shiny banner for you :D

I would just like to reiterate that the themes are meant to be very loose guidelines for icon makers who may be at a loss for topics. They're also meant to add a bit of challenge to what would otherwise be a boring and tedious task. No one will be there to judge how appropriate or how well your icons fit the theme, so feel free to experiment around and, above all, have fun!
There are Five wonderful theme sets for you to choose from, when making your claim state which theme set you'll be using for you icons (ie, theme set: #4). you may only use one theme set for your icons you may however use themes from other sets as artist choice icons.
