Looks whats here! Can't wait to get my own copy. For alan fan's you'll either love or hate it. From the 11 tracks, 4 singles have already been released in China, and 6 tracks are just remakes of her Japanese hits so there are only four new tracks. However the thing that really annoyos me is how they couldn't even get a new picture for the album cover. Is it seriously that hard? On the bright side, I prefer alan in Chinese because 1) I understand it and 2) I think she's better at the language even if her Japanese has improved. I'll post some FLAC/Apple Lossless rips of her previous stuff here in a moment too as I ripped them for [info]clear_sounds (do check out the comm for lossless music).

YesAsia: Tibetan Chinese singer alan has secured a foothold in the J-pop market thanks to her well-received debut Japanese album Voice of EARTH. Her recent single Kuon no Kawa (theme song for John Woo's Red Cliff 2) even reached no. 3 on the Oricon weekly chart, the highest ever achieved by a Chinese singer. The success doesn't mean she will forget the fans in her homeland, though. In July 2009, alan is releasing her first Mandarin studio album. Backed by Avex's production crew, and famous Mando-pop producer Benjamin Lin and lyricist Francis Lee, the album features 11 songs, including the main plug "Love Can See", and both theme songs from the Red Cliff movies. Other selections are mainly Chinese versions of alan's J-pop hits, plus printer tie-in song "Go! You Have Me!" (duet with Wei Chen), and Sichuan Earthquake Relief fundraising song "Love is the Hands", available on CD for the first time.

In 2009, the 9th year since Christine Fan's debut, the Taiwan singer-songwriter releases her 9th album curiously titled F One - which, according to her, represents her determination to reset her musical career and start anew after last year's Best-of compilation Faces of Fan Fan. This time, Fan enlisted the help of award-winning producer Adia, as well as eminent musicians like Xiao Yu, Daryl Yao, Chen Hsiao Hsia, and Wang Ya Jun to prepare a buffet of various music styles, from rock to dance to R&B. One of the highlights of the new album is a duet with MC HotDog called "1 to 10 = Me & You", which is described as a reggae-styled up-tempo number about all kinds of love that exist between people.

The biggest "newcomer" of 2009 has to be Gulilai Amit - wait, that's the alter ego of A-mei Chang! On March 15, 2007, the Taiwan pop diva performed under her Puyuma aboriginal name for the very first time. Since then, it has taken her 834 days and cost NTD30 million to produce her first album in this new identity. The album, whose title Amit carries the added meaning of "A-mei: music is transformed", presents a never-before-seen side of A-mei, and promises a new sound and style very different from what we've come to expect from her. Partnered by Golden Melody Award-winning producer Adia, Amit experiments with alternative music with considerable aboriginal characteristics, like in the main plug "Ancient Tune" and first single "Alter ego".

A string of great Chinese release today, and four great artists. Both female artists, Huang Ya Li and Peggy Hsu were featured here (Intro to pop/rock/acoustic) - although both leaning towards the pop side slightly more. Gary Cao (also known as Gary Chaw) is an artist I'm sure you're all familar with and Victor Wong is one of the great ballad singers, I'm planning to upload his album/s later on.

ティアナ・シャオ - 悲しい嘘 | Tiana Xiao - Kanashii Uso
Release Date: May 20, 2009
Language: Japanese
Genre: R'n'B, Pop, Ballad
Fans of: Utada Hikaru, Cheong Sang Ji Hee/Tenjochiki, JYONGRI

02. Promise
03. You're My Heart
04. 悲しい嘘 (Instrumental)
05. Promise (Instrumental)
06. You're My Heart (Instrumental)

Comments: Anyone remember Tiano Xiao, she was one of my favourite new artists last year and I have all her stuff uploaded if you check the tag. But if can't, Tiana originated from Sichuan in China until she moved to Los Angeles with her mother and brother and later earned her record deal in Japan. She can fluently speak and write all three languages - and because I never get bored of saying this - she has an IQ of 170 and graduated high school at 14. Well a yar after her debut album, she back with a single. I can happily say her Japanese seems to have improved, although the accent is still quite obvious. The songs are rather much the same R'n'B style but shes brought a little more variety. The first B-side really reminds me of Cheon Sang Ji Hee/Tenjochiki's "HERE".

Note: As this is my own rip, please do not share this outside the comm until the official release date (May 20th), and when you do please credit. Feel free to use the Megaupload links but DO NOT share server links outside. Thanks. Now, what do you think of the music?

from yesasia: Taiwan's pioneering pop rock band sodagreen plans to put in motion an ambitious "Project Vivaldi" that involves four new albums and a Taipei Arena concert within two years beginning May 2009. Inspired by Vivaldi's famous violin concertos The Four Seasons, the band intends to release four albums based on four moods representing the four seasons experienced in four cities. sodagreen has already planted the seed of such an idea in its 2007 album Incomparable Beauty in the track "Seasons Rhapsody". Now the dream is fast becoming reality, as the first album in this concept series (sodagreen's fifth overall), titled Daylight of Spring, greets listeners with the warm and fuzzy folk rock music with a distinctive Taitung, Taiwan flavor. For the next release, sodagreen will go global with the Summer chapter to be recorded in London. The Preorder Version comes with the "Daylight" CD single.

Xie He Xian is My Real Name released in February 2009, the highly anticipated first full-length album Nothing But a Chord from Taiwan singer-songwriter Xie He Xian (a.k.a. A-chord) is a total labor of love. Not only did he write all the music and lyrics, he participated in the whole production process. Even though this talented young musician gained fame primarily as an actor in hit Taiwanese dramas like Hanazakarino Kimitachihe and KO One, one can tell that music is his real root and passion. The album's songs are selected from hundreds of songs A-chord has written thus far, all reflecting his feelings on life and things happening around him.

Introduction to Chinese Indie-Pop-Rock-Acoustic [Part 2]

For those who remember (or have been pointed towards) I did a post introducing some Chinese indie/pop/rock artists a while ago - make that months ago. It seemed that it was quite well received and many even wanted to expand their music libraries even more, so I've decided to do Part 2 and again, I'm only sticking to introducing Chinese (Mainland, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong etc) indie aritsts, even though I've been posting some more than usual Korean indie recently. I do have at least one album from all these artsits, BUT I have not uploaded them all because that's crazy time consuming. SO like last time I will have previewable/downloadable preview tracks (4shared) for all artists and for a few favourites I will have full albums uploaded to Megaupload/Box.net. As always with my recommended posts there's a Box.net widget at the end so you can browse through all them songs.

I would love to hear about what artists you already know, have heard about, or discovered from this post or the last one. What type of artists you would like to hear more from and would like me to try and recommend alike bands. If you like what you hear it would be great if you tried to support the aritsts - I know a few are hard to find being independant or sold out releases - but you're best bet is YesAsia and ebay (or Google). A few bands even have their songs up for download at their sites/myspaces. There isn't always alot of English information around (sometimes there isn't even much in Chinese) so I try to add some basic bio stuff, genre types but if you have time check out their official sites and myspaces, they normally have more previews [Part 1 Here]

Under the Cut )

So what do you think? Like anything? Want to hear more from who? Over the two posts I think I've named around 50 artists, so I do hope you find at least something you've liked. And I've pretty much squeezed out all my indie stuff so don't be expecting any more posts like this. Because I've now had enough of Chinese indie we're moving back the Korean music, and I'll be throwing in some Japanese stuff.

Ok, so now [info]music_envy has one as well ♥ This for my personal reminder more than anything else. Not all upcoming releases are included, mainly the debuts, mainstream pop and things I might be/think others will be interested in. Included are Chinese, Japanese and Korean releases only sorted by date, no language and I try not in list those which are confirmed. If you want me to add anything just comment. And, hell, most certainly not everything will be uploaded. We're a music comm, but we don't specilize in recent releases though we do throw those in every so often.

And it's already that time of year - award shows. First one up (with a proper ceremony) was the Singapore Hit Awards 2008 held on the 28th of October. I've listed the main awards and left out a few (mainly the regional awards) and on the night the biggest winner was 30 year old, One Million star contestant, Aska Yang who left with a total of five awards. Follwing closely was Eason Chan and Yoga Lin, both with four awards. No downloads in this post, but there is the widget at the end for you to check out some tunes from the winners. Do you think they went to the right person? Um, as for personal opinions I don't really have much to say apart from the fact nearly all Chinese award shows are rigged and they just end up giving a handful of awards for the same thing. Yes, someone do please explain to me the difference between "Most Popular Group" and "Best Group" -- I guess one's chosen from judges, one from the public? Why don't they just make it a single award then? But did anyone notice Quack Wu? (can someone please tell me who he is, lol). This name is enough to a smile to my face.

Ok, so I snatched this idea from one of our affiliates (sorry I can't remember which one) who did the Weekly Top 10 for Korean Songs. I thought I'd expand it and include the Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) weekly rankings along with the Japanese Oricon singles. This might turn out to be a once in a while thing or maybe monthly, but make sure to leave a comment if you download (and maybe ideas on this) and more importantly, support your artists. See a single/song that deserves to be in the Top 10? Buy the album, download the single, support them ♥
