I noticed Amanda Palmer (of The Dresden Dolls) just put up an excellent cover of Death Cab For Cutie's "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" on her solo MySpace...it's well, well worth checking out/downloading. I've always loved that song, and really liked what she did with it...check it out HERE...

(By the way, not sure how many of you are familiar with Amanda or The Dolls, but they're absolutely amazing -- one of my favorite bands, even...if you dig the DCFC cover, they've also been covering "Such Great Heights" by The Postal Service live for a few years -- there's a download of that available HERE on The Brigade -- their live/rarities MP3 archive)

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE & THE WU-TANG CLAN
SET TO “ROCK THE BELLS”

First it was the reunion of the Wu-Tang Clan in 2004. Then it was A Tribe Called Quest later that year. Now, ROCK THE BELLS will make history again as Rage Against The Machine announces their plans to perform three exclusive engagements with the critically acclaimed world-class hip-hop festival this summer. The epic line-up will see Rage Against The Machine join Wu-Tang Clan for two dates on the west coast (August 11--NOS Events Center, San Bernardino, CA, August 18--venue TBA, San Francisco) and for Rock The Bells’ inaugural venture into New York City (July 28-- Randall’s Island) for their only scheduled appearance on the eastern seaboard this year. The Wu-Tang Clan will support the release of their forthcoming album 8 Diagrams.

Rock The Bells, presented by Guerilla Union since 2003, has established itself as a world-class hip-hop platform by hosting legendary performances by NAS, A Tribe Called Quest, Lauryn Hill, Blackstarr (Talib Kweli and Mos Def), Cuban Linx, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes, Cypress Hill and Jurassic 5 as well as reuniting Wu-Tang for their last performance with ODB in 2004. This year, the festival will keep in its tradition and showcase the very best the genre has to offer.

“It’s definitely our fans’ dream billing. It’s a tremendous honor to have Rage Against The Machine and Wu-Tang Clan perform together,” states event organizer Chang Weisberg of Guerilla Union. “I can’t wait to announce the rest of the line-up for Rock the Bells. It’s incredibly important to put some shine on quality Hip Hop. The opportunity to galvanize the social and political consciousness of these groups is undeniable.”

Garbage Dig Through the Past for Hits

Garbage, currently on an indefinite hiatus, will mine the vaults for a best-of, dubbed 'Absolute Garbage,' this spring. The effort will feature ever-dapper hits like 'I'm Only Happy When It Rains' and 'Stupid Girl,' and will be preceded by a new single.

Meanwhile, frontwoman Shirley Manson has begun work on a solo album, racking up a Who's Who of collaborators. The latest rockers joining the brazen singer are White Stripes/Raconteurs mastermind Jack White and Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan.

Manson previously reached out to Blue Nile's Paul Buchanan in a letter asking him to join her writing efforts. Buchanan will join Manson in the studio next month to continue work on the album, which is also due in 2007.

This site called Brickfish is hosting some really cool music contests right now for Gosling, Senses Fail, Lost Prophets, Luna Halo and The Decemberists. They have also have an interview with Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio and Lisa Johnson, a famos rock photographer.
The winners of all the band contests get 2 tickets to the warped tour, plus the prizes for that contest, which are things like show tickets, cds, getting to meet the band, signed merch and all kinds of stuff.

Hello Everyone,

It's Phil here. I just wanted to send out a message to you all personally and let you all know whats going on. After many days and months of thinking and praying, and after over two years of touring and being in this band for many more years than that, I have decided to no longer play bass for This Providence. The reason is basically that its just too hard for me to be gone for such long periods of time on tour. In all my relationships I am lacking and I want to focus on them more. My relationship with Jesus, my relationship with my girlfriend, my family, my friends . . . etc. I've just personally found it impossible to stay grounded in my faith without steadily being plugged into my church. And if I'm not seeking Him to the best of my ability, well then whats the point of being on this earth? Its been an incredibly hard decision, but it was one I needed to make and I'm more excited for my future than I've ever been! I've had so much fun doing this, and also with the most amazing group of guys, too! Dan, Gavin, Ryan, thank you soooo much for everything! You guys have been amazing to me and so supportive, it means the world to me! And to all the bands we've toured with, you guys are incredible and its been amazing getting to know you! I'll miss all of you! and to our fans, You guys are mind-blowing! We truly do have the best fans in the world! To everyone on our LJ community, our message board, our myspace, and our street team THANK YOU SO MUCH! If you live in Seattle, I'll be around some shows here and there, don't be afraid to say hello! IMPORTANT TOUR NEWS
We regret to inform you (the fans) that we have been "kicked" off tour.

We did everything possible to stay on this tour. Sonny would not have been able to sing due to a tear in his vocal chord, but would have been onstage playing guitar while Craig, of Chiodos, would handle singing duties for the remainder of the tour. Our plan to enable us to play the rest of the tour was disregarded and as our crew was setting up for the show in Worcester, MA we were informed that we were being kicked off of the tour. Understand that it was not our choice to leave this tour... we were forced to leave. Once again we apologize... to you (the fans)... to everyone who bought a ticket to see us play... to the KVLT... if we were allowed to be on the rest of this tour we would be.

After two years on the road together, Tom and the Academy Is... have gone in separate directions.

William, Mike, Adam, and The Butcher can be found in an abandoned warehouse, somewhere on the southside of Chicago writing their second album.

While we are not too excited about the potential internet drama this news might invite, we felt our fans should know. We hope you understand and can continue to support both The Academy Is..., and Tom.

It's official. Fred's left and Jack's in permanently.
Dear you,

We are writing to tell you all that our friend Fred has decided to
leave the band to pursue school and work on other things. We all
support his decision 100%. He is still our very close friend and we
have no bad blood between us whatsoever. He is the funniest person
any of us have ever met and we will miss him. We are certain that he
will do amazing at whatever he decides to do.
We will be the first ones to lend a hand.

Jack Marin will be our new bass player. As we are sure you will all find out, he is an amazing
person. We are very fortunate to have found someone that we all fit so well with.
Be sure to come out and make him feel welcomed as a new part of our family.

the best year of my life. I'm glad I got a chance to meet and talk to
some really awesome people. I still love the guys in Cute, and will
