This might possibly be one of my favorite mixes yet. It's long, too, compared to the length of the actual fic :) We've got a Last Shadow Puppets (yes, that's the dude from Artic Monkeys), I'm completely IN LOVE with Ima Robot, Dear Gabby will get in your head and never leave (the beginning, with the claps *hands*), {{Sunset}} is gorgeous, Nada Surf does a fabulous Pixies cover. In my head Automatic Zombie Fall is, like, maybe a mixture of Tilly And The Wall and Wolf Parade. I don't think that makes sense, but whatever. Comment if you download - enjoy!

This is what holiday weekends and writer's block gets you - more songs that you might catch me singing in the shower, the car, as I clean the bathroom, make the bed, etc. I seem to have a lot of covers. I like having familiar songs by different folks - it's fun! Anyway, each song is a separate link - please RIGHT-CLICK and SAVE-AS so you don't destroy my bandwidth! Even though the numbers only go up to 90, there is a grand total of 122 songs listed here; even more than last time! Let me know if any of the links are messed up. This was so tedious. 1. Another Fucking Lovesong, Amiel. Just a cute little break-up number.

2. Another Part of Me, Michael Jackson. Oh man, we had an entire dance that went with this. The beginning always makes me think of a spaceship or something. Fun!

3. Astronomy, Metallica. A Blue Oyster Cult cover of awesomeness. There is so much goodness in this. And, hey, my very first fandom fic ever waaaaaaay back in ’03, was named after this song!

4. Baby, It’s Cold Outside, Leon Redbone & Zooey Deschanel. From Elf! The most fantastic Christmas movie of all time! I wish they’d recorded it with Will Ferrell, but Zooey is cool beans; And here, have a bandom version: Baby, It’s Cold Outside, Greta Salpeter & Thomas Dutton

5. Barbara Ann, The Beach Boys. This is possibly the easiest song to memorize.

6. Born, Over the Rhine. A pretty pretty song. I will counteract the pretty with this hilariously strange kid song by the same group: The Poopsmith Song.

7. Breakfast At Tiffany’s, Deep Blue Something. I’m pretty sure everyone knows the words to this one.

8. Brick, Ben Folds Five. This reminds me of my junior and senior years of college, my roommate Porkchop, the fire that burned down our apartment, Poetry Class Brian (who totally had a crush on me, I know it), snow storms, good times.

9. Can You Stand The Rain (Under The Lamppost - Quiet Storm Mix), New Edition. Ooooh, dudes. New Edition rocks my socks.

10. Dead, They Might Be Giants. It’s hard to choose TMBG songs for this list, because practically ALL of them are sing-along songs. Something about singing about being beheaded is pure fun, though.

11. Don’t Fuck With Love, Sad Little Stars. I seem to like songs that have ‘fuck’ and ‘love’ in them. Weird.

12. Drive, The Cars. When I was younger I never realized this was a Cars song, because it’s so completely different from their other tunes. It’s just gorgeous. Have a lovely cover, too (even though I've given it to you before): Drive, Revolution Smile

13. Earth Angel, The Penguins. An oldie but goody. Death Cab for Cutie seems to think so too: Earth Angel.

14. Everywhere, Fleetwood Mac. Who doesn’t like Fleetwood Mac? And for that matter, who doesn’t think this cover kicks everyone’s collective ass: Everywhere, Vampire Weekend.

15. Excitable Boy, Warren Zevon. It’s a song about a psycho and it’s catchy.

16. Faded, Soul Decision. Oh, Oh, SERIOUSLY WHAT? I’m kind of faded but I’m feeling all right, thinking ‘bout making my move tonight…

17. Ferris Wheel, Carlon. Short little ditty that’s fun to sing.

18. Follow You Home, Kasey Chambers. For someone who hates country music, I sure have a whole lot of banjo-pickin’ songs.

19. Forever In Blue Jeans, Neil Diamond. Another song that reminds me of college; Porkchop and I used to change the words to ‘forever in big pants’ because we’d pretty much wear our pj pants everywhere – class, dinner, movies, what-have-you – and we called them ‘big pants’. Man, I was so cool. I’m totally still amazed at my cool.

20. Girls, Beastie Boys. Not my favorite Beastie Boys song (that would have to be No Sleep Till Brooklyn), but so fun to sing. Totally sexist, but fun.

21. Goodbye Stranger, Supertramp. One of the best Supertramp songs. I suspect maybe you kill unicorns in your spare time if you don't enjoy this one.

22. Home, Marc Broussard. At just about the halfway mark in this song the handclaps and foot-stomps start. And it’s magic.

23. I Don’t Wanna Live Without Your Love, Chicago. Basically, you can pick any Chicago song ever and I’d sing along with it.

24. I Don’t Want to Live on the Moon, Ernie (Sesame Street). I can still picture the skit that goes along with this. I loved this song so much that I actually wrote the music out for it for my piano by ear. Nothing fancy, just the notes and chords. It’s just so sweet.

25. I Should Be Allowed To Think, They Might Be Giants. I should be allowed to glue my poster. I should have a call-in show.

26. Idiot Boyfriend, Jimmy Fallon. I think Jimmy Fallon is hilarious. Taxi was probably the worst movie ever and I still loved it. Also, this song reminds me of the time J gave me a stereo system for the TV for Christmas. Seriously. Seriously, did he think I really wanted that? Or did he want it?

27. In The Ghetto, Elvis Presley. Is there anyone who doesn’t sing along to this one?

28. It’s Raining Again, Supertramp. Any song that ties in the old ‘it’s raining, it’s pouring, the old man is snoring’ bit is freaking golden in my eyes.

29. It’s Tricky, Run DMC. Who doesn’t like Run DMC?? Who? People who aren’t fans of delicious flavors, that’s who.

30. Johnny, Are You Queer, Josie Cotton. Valley Girl is kind of the only movie I’d watch with Nick Cage in it, because I hate Nick Cage with the fiery passion of a million suns.

31. Jolene, Jeremy Fisher. I’m awfully fond of this boy.

32. Just What I Needed, The Cars. Classic Cars. The guitars at the beginning of this song are kind of amazing.

33. Landslide, Fleetwood Mac. Kind of the most gorgeous song ever in all the land. No matter who sings it: Landslide, Smashing Pumpkins; Landslide, Dixie Chicks.

34. Life Is But A Dream, The Harptones. Um. So, yeah, this was me and J’s wedding song.

35. Little Bitty Pretty One, Bobby Darin. Handclaps! Humming!! BOBBY DARIN.

36. Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong, Spin Doctors. I always thought the lead singer for the Spin Doctors looked like a street bum. That is all.

37. Look Away, Chicago. Yet again, my love for Chicago shines through. Not as well known as their other hits, but just as much fun to sing.

38. Lost In Love, Air Supply. It amuses me a whole lot to imagine Ryan Ross as a secret Air Supply fan. IDEK.

39. Mama Said Knock You Out, LL Cool J. Who remembers his TV show, In The House? I used to love that show, back when that lady from Fame was on it. That has nothing to do with this song, though.

40. Me and Bobbie McGee, Janis Joplin. Everyone should know this song. Also, my brother got me a little into bluegrass, hazards of living in Atlanta for so many years: Bobby McGee, Bullsburo.

41. Mind Playing Tricks On Me, Geto Boys. Awwwww, yeah. Geto Boys.

42. Minnie the Moocher, Cab Calloway. I should just put the whole soundtrack to The Blues Brothers on this list.

43. Missionary Man, Eurythmics. Don’t mess with a missionary man. The beginning of this song is kind of awesome.

44. MMMBop, Hanson. I can’t believe I left this off my last list.

45. Narrow Your Eyes, They Might Be Giants. Seriously, there’s pretty much not a single TMBG song that I couldn’t sing all the words to. I like the part about the bus in this one, though.

46. A Nightmare On My Street, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. We’re creeping up on Halloween!

47. No Leaf Clover, Metallica. S&M is a genius album. The entire thing is amazing, but I love, love, love this song. LOVE.

48. No Myth, Michael Penn. Romeo in black jeans!

49. Nobody’s Cool, The Arrogants. I like singing along with these folks. They’re sweet.

50. O Fortuna, Carmina Burana, Orff. So, okay, unless you’re like me and sung this in choir, you won’t actually know the words. However, you know the tune! And it’s fun to blast really, really loud. Just watch out, ‘cause the middle is so so soft, and then it crashes into sound, and you might go deaf.

51. Oh My God, Kaiser Chiefs. This is such a fun song. What might be even funner is this version: Oh My God, Mark Ronson ft. Lily Allen.

52. Old Dominion, Eddie From Ohio. If you really like Virginia. It’s a live version, but I think that adds to the fun.

53. One Crowded Hour, Augie March. I kind of love the build to this song.

54. Owner of a Lonely Heart, Yes. Yes is pretty awesome. A less awesome, but interesting version: Owner of a Lonely Heart, Grizzly Bear.

55. Papa Gene’s Blues, The Monkees. Mike Nesmith is basically my favorite Monkee. He’s a guitar-pickin’ genius.

56. Playground, XTC. I love Wasp Star. Everyone should have a copy.

57. Poison Arrow, ABC. Shoot that poison arrow to my heart!

58. The Predatory Wasp Of The Palisades Is Out To Get Us!, Sufjan Stevens. I didn’t like this song at all the first time I heard it. It’s the kind of tune that grows on you.

59. Ready Or Not, The Fugees. I do indeed own The Score. I always thought this song was kind of spooky.

60. Reminiscing, Little River Band. Hee. Little River Band. Totally fun.

61. Rock With You, Michael Jackson. Dance you into day. You know, it’s too bad that MJ is such a freak, because he’s kind of awesome, otherwise.

62. Sara Smile, Hall & Oates. One of my fav Hall & Oates songs. For no real reason, since they are not related at all, it always reminds me of that old 80s movie Savannah Smiles, the adorable comedy where two bumbling crooks accidentally kidnap a kid. Whatever. I’m weird.

63. (She’s) Sexy + 17, Stray Cats. The Stray Cats are freaking awesome.

64. Shout, Tears for Fears. If I’m going to give you this version, I need to give you this version, too: Shout 2000, Disturbed. I’ve already mentioned that The Sickness is one of my favorite albums of all time. The best is the little ‘ice, ice baby’ in the middle.

65. Silence Is Golden, The Tremeloes. A fun oldies tune.

66. Skullcrusher Mountain, Jonathan Coulton. Look, any song that mentions a monkey-pony hybrid monster is A++ in my book.

67. Sky Blue And Black, Jackson Browne. Another delight off of his I’m Alive album.

68. Smooth Criminal, Michael Jackson. Bad is kind of the best MJ album, okay? Okay. And I’ve given you this before, but: Smooth Criminal, Alien Ant Farm.

69. Solitaire, The Carpenters. Awesome song, and I don’t even like Sheryl Crow, but she sings an excellent version: Solitaire.

70. Solitary Man, Neil Diamond. I’ll be what I am, a solitary man.

71. Space Cowboy, 'N Sync Feat. Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. One of the most ridiculous ‘N Sync songs of all time. I'd say the most ridiculous, except this is ‘N Sync, and there are so many more. What the hell were they thinking with Riddle?

72. Still, The Commodores. Slow, lovely, fun to sing in the car.

73. Stray Cat Strut, Stray Cats. I’m a ladies cat! I’m a feline Casanova!

74. Stuck In The Middle With You, Stealers Wheel. I’m a sucker for handclaps, okay? I'm pretty sure you already knew that.

75. Superstar, The Carpenters. So I listed the Carpenters version first by dint of it being The Carpenters, even though Sonic Youth’s version is amazing. Also, have another version: Superstar, Shock of Pleasure

76. Sweet Young Thing, The Monkees. Mike Nesmith is the man.

77. These Are The Daves I Know, Bruce McCullough. The Kids In The Hall will always be my favorite comedy skit team.

78. Top Of The World, The Carpenters. Another one where I love the cover more: Top Of The World, Shonen Knife. It’s kind of adorably hyper. (I’m also a huge fan of the tribute album If I Were A Carpenter, so you should get yourself a copy). Here’s another random version: Top Of The World, The Sugarcubes.

79. Umbrella (ft Jay-Z) and Umbrella (Remix ft Chris Brown & Jay-Z), Rihanna; I have NO IDEA why I have so many versions of this song *hands*. Umbrella, Manic Street Preachers; Umbrella, Scott Simons; Umbrella, Plain White T’s; Umbrella, Tegan and Sara (live version, but still nice).

80. What A Feeling, Irene Cara. Flashdance!

81. Where It’s At, Beck. I got two turn tables and a microphone. I used to have kind of an obscene concert t-shirt from this. That was a good drum break!

82. White Wedding, Billy Idol. My fav part is the ‘pick it up - take me back home, yeah!’ I seem to have a lot of versions of this, too: White Wedding, Doro; White Wedding, Queens of the Stone Age; White Wedding, Whip; White Wedding, The Harvey Girls.

83. Why Does The Sun Shine? (The Sun Is A Mass Of Incandescent Gas), They Might Be Giants. They taught me everything I know about the sun.

84. Will You Return?, The Avett Brothers. Folk-rock! My favorite!

85. World Spins Madly On, The Weepies. This song sure is pretty.

86. You’re Nobody ‘Til Somebody Loves You, Dean Martin. Dino! The sentiment is kind of mean, but it’s still a good song.

87. You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling, The Righteous Brothers. This reminds me, oddly enough, of Pirate Booty and elementary school.

88. You Don’t Bring Me Flowers, Barbara Streisand & Neil Diamond. I used to duet this with Porkchop. My love of old school duets is still going strong.

89. Young Folks and Young Folks (beyond the wizards sleeve re-animation), Peter Bjorn & John. This is the kind of song that gets annoying after a while, but it’s still fun to sing. Wow, I also have lots of covers of this: Young Folks, The Kooks; Young Folks, Shugo Tokumaru; technically not a straight cover: Young Folks, Kanye West.

90. 500 Miles, The Proclaimers. This still makes me think of How I Met Your Mother. Hilarious.

This soundtrack is a little different. So, a couple things: I'm a huge fucking fangirl for Mike Doughty. I think he's completely awesome, and I've thought that since his Soul Coughing days. Although mainly that's because of his amazing voice, since his solo stuff is clearly superior - everything gets to me about him, and that usually doesn't happen with me and music. I love music, but I'm not, like, emotional about it. However, I am a hormonal teenage girl for Mike Doughty. When I put together a mix for a fic, I usually pile 20 to 25 songs into a playlist and then pare it down from there, but when I started this mix 3/4ths of the entire folder ended up being Mike Doughty songs, because everything about Jon being a unicorn makes me think of Mike Doughty, and now I can't listen to one of his songs without thinking about Jon being a unicorn. I've given you a few of these songs before, but bear with me here. This is probably going to be hit or miss for you guys; I hope you enjoy it anyway. He's alt-folk-rock. He's so awesome. Brendon’s a senior, too, and he plays the trombone, and he’s decided to adopt Spencer – he’d said it just like that, too: “Spencer Smith, I’m adopting you,” and he’d lounged all over his lap during lunch break, like, two days into camp - and he’s possibly got more energy than Frank. I made a mix for bandombigbang! Here it is! The whole feel of icyanahita's story is very, um, weighty? Dark? Like you'd think a superhero AU would be all fun and games, but this was more about the things they couldn't do than what they could. If this was a movie, At Death, A Proclamation would be, like, as the credits are rolling maybe (god, I love the drums). And, okay, I kind of bookended it like that, because Ash is definitely a winding down sort of song, a fade to black. The whole soundtrack is a lot more metal-ish than usual. House of the Rising Sun has always been one of my favorite songs - I love the original, but I thought the Muse version was a little more fitting. I have a huge weakness for Disturbed - The Sickness is on my list of top 5 albums of all time, IDEK. I've always thought Bodies was slightly masterful. Voodoo is not nine minutes long (Audacity is useful for more than just podfic recording!) Disco Blackout - obviously a shout out to the Vegas side of events. Anyway, comment if you download! Because I'm crazy, and because I love all you so much, I've spent way too much time coming up with a 100 songs I love to sing along to post. It got a little out of hand. There's 119 songs in all and, oh my god, they're all linked separately and I think I've gotten them all straight, but let me know if you come across any errors. Every link you stumble on is a song. RIGHT-CLICK SAVE-AS please! Take a few, take them all, take none, just enjoy my rambling, whatever - enjoy :) Comment if you end up downloading any.

1. Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now), Phil Collins. Who can resist singing this song? WHO? And, okay, if you think you’re too cool for Phil, have The Postal Service version, ‘cause I’m awesome and always there for you.

2. Alone, Heart. Only people WITH NO HEARTS can hear this and not totally belt out the chorus, okay—true fact.

3. Am I Wrong, Love Split Love. I have this complete and total love for the Angus soundtrack. It is possibly my most favorite soundtrack of all time, and this is my favorite song off of it.

4. Amanda, Boston. Boston is just damn fun to sing along to. This is one of my fav Boston tracks—I’m gonna say it like a man, and make you understand, Amanda! Check out that guitar solo! AMANDA!

5. Apeman, The Kinks. I’m an apeman. I’m an ape-apeman.

6. …Baby One More Time, Britney Spears. Seriously guys, okay, it’s Britney, but it’s CATCHY. And it’s from back when she wasn’t batshit insane, or just knew how to hide it better.

7. Bad, Bad Leroy Brown, Jim Croce. This reminds me of car rides with my Dad. Jim Croce is kind of awesome, okay? Okay.

8. The Banana Boat Song (Day-O), Harry Belafonte. Everyone and their mom has seen Beetlejuice, I’m sure. Daylight come and me wan’ go home.

9. Basket Case, Green Day. Kind of one of my favorite all time Green Day songs. I think mainly ‘cause it makes me think of senior year/freshman college days of awesomeness.

10. Black Water, The Doobie Brothers. I LOVE this song. I love how it sort of drifts in and it’s all twinkly and jive-y and stuff. Whatever, you know what I mean.

11. Blue Caravan, Vienna Teng. I have tried about five different times to fit this song into a soundtrack, and I always end up taking it out, even though it’s so amazing. It’s just lovely and sad and really fun to sing.

12. Brandy, Looking Glass. Duuuuudes. Brandy’s such a fine girl.

13. Carrying The Banner, Christian Bale, Max Casella, et al. Newsies is the BEST MUSICAL OF ALL WORLDS. I cut out the little proof of purchase on my tape of the soundtrack and sent away for the lyric book, but before it came in the mail I’d be on the phone with my friends rewinding/playing all these songs and picking apart all the words until we could sing them in our sleep. I have the tape, the CD, the VHS and the DVD, because it is so awesome. I wanted to grow up and marry Spot Conlon—ON THE GROUNDS OF BROOKLYN.

14. Come On Eileen, Dexy’s Midnight Runners—or, if you’d prefer, here’s the Save Ferris version. Classic eighties that gets my toes tapping, and, seriously, everyone knows the words, right?

15. Could You Be Loved, Bob Marley & The Wailers. Summer is the time for popping in Legend and turning your radio up.

16. Cupid, Sam Cooke. Cupid, draw back your bow! Also, Amy Winehouse might be a crack whore or whatever, but she sure can sing: Cupid, Amy Winehouse.

17. Dance the Night Away, Mavericks. This is just one of those random songs that everyone should have.

18. Don’t Bring Me Down, ELO. Bruce! Who the hell is Bruce? WHO CARES.

19. Don’t Come Around Here No More, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. I can’t hear this song without picturing that creepy-awesome video. Awesome stuff.

20. Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, Elton John & Kiki Dee. I’m a sucker for old school duets. I can’t help myself!

21. Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough, Michael Jackson. I don’t think I’ve ever bothered to look up what he actually says, but I always alternate between, “Keep on, take your pants off,” and “Keep on, with your bad self.” It’s fun that way.

22. Don’t Stop Believin’, Journey. Oh yes. Oh yessss. You are completely soulless if you don’t sing along with this one. SOULLESS. IT’S WORSE THAN NOT HAVING A HEART.

23. Endless Love, Lionel Richie & Diana Ross. Ha, so at one point, before I met J, I promised to marry the man who would sing this song with me in a rockin’ duet at our reception. That did not happen. I still love singing this song with my entire being. Also, I always think of that zamboni driver in Happy Gilmore and it makes me giggle.

24. Eternal Flame, The Bangles. Yeah, you know you love it.

25. Fernando, ABBA. I believe I’ve mentioned before how happy this song makes me.

26. The Girl Is Mine, Michael Jackson & Paul McCartney. Completely for the hilarity factor—I told you, Paul, I’m a lover not a fighter!

27. Glory of Love, Chicago & Peter Cetera. I am a man who will fight for your honor!!!! Oh my god, this song, guys, this song.

28. Got My Mind Set On You, George Harrison. This reminds me of my brother for some reason. I don’t know why, he always kind of hated the Beatles. Also, have a cover of… this cover: Got My Mind Set On You, Beacons.

29. Got to Be There, The Jackson 5. In the morning, when she says hello to the world…

30. Hard Habit to Break, Chicago. Chicago is just an amazing band, folks. Also, it makes me think of the opening theme to Perfect Strangers, when they’re out in front of a marquee with CHICAGO on it, oh, Perfect Strangers, how I miss you and your Dance of Joy. I still know the entire bibby bobkas song, because I’m a giant dork.

31. Heaven, The Lisps. I like to sing along to The Lisps. They have fab harmonies, and I’d have saved this song for, like, a soundtrack, except the subject matter would be hard to fit.

32. Help Me, Ronda, The Beach Boys. We used to hang around my basement and the playground and sing Beach Boys songs. Clearly, this is because The Beach Boys are awesome.

33. Hero Of The Day, Metallica. So, whatever, I like Load and Reload, all right? So it’s not ktulu or master of puppets, who cares!

34. Hey Ya, Outkast. Merely because we played it nonstop in the car when I met J. After-wedding shenanigans!

35. The House Rules, Kane. Is there a person who doesn’t have this song? I kind of want to draw sparkly pink hearts around it, maybe give it some tongue kisses.

36. Hype, Kid ‘N Play. I am a true blue fan of their acting, okay, because Class Act and House Party are kind of cheesily fantastic in all the best ways. I do indeed own their album 2 Hype, yes. I can rap right along with them. Annnnd, because I love you, they sample from Uptight (Everything's Alright), Stevie Wonder.

37. I’m Alive, Jackson Browne. Jackson Brown, you ask? Isn’t he that guy who sang Running on Empty & Somebody’s Baby, and is generally considered an asshole? Yes and perhaps, but Mr. Browne didn’t rock just the seventies and eighties. I’m in possession of his absolutely fantastic 1993 album. This is a driving down the highway with the windows down song. I used to catch my college boyfriend singing along to it when he borrowed my car, and he was a diehard metal fan. It just sort of sucks you in.

38. I Don’t Want To Lose Your Love, The Outfield. Josie’s on a vacation far away, come around and talk it over!!!

39. I Keep Forgettin’, Michael McDonald. I have an inappropriate crush on Michael McDonald’s voice! There, I said it. He’s made of magic ponies in hats.

40. I Think I Love You, The Partridge Family. Oh, come on. Come on, seriously, whatever, like I could leave this off a list of sing along songs.

41. I Wanna Be Where You Are, The Jackson 5. Dudes, I love the beat in this song. Listen to the beeeeaaat!

42. Ivy Boy, Polaris. Utterly weird lyrics, seriously, but Pete & Pete was the most hilariously bizarre show on Nick, so.

43. Jammin’, Bob Marley & The Wailers. Another Marley classic, possibly my favorite off Legend.

44. Jump, Van Halen & Jump, Kriss Kross. Two for the price of one! You’ve got Van Halen, a classic, and then Kriss Kross, backwards pants wearing freaks who got Sprite commercials (ha, no, of course I can’t sing you the entire commercial, I’m not that freakish *shifty eyes*)

45. Jump In The Line, Harry Belafonte. So I couldn’t give you Day-O without giving you this one. You love me, you do. (shake shake shake senora!)

46. King Of New York, Christian Bale, Max Casella, Bill Pullman, et al. If you haven’t seen Newsies yet, please do. These songs are so much fun to sing along to, but it’s even better if you can picture these lovely dancing boys.

47. Kiss At The End Of The Rainbow, Mitch & Mickey (Eugene Levy & Catherine O’Hara). So A Mighty Wind is a pretty fantastic and hilarious movie, and I’ve been in love with this song ever since seeing it. Maybe before.

48. Kiss You Off, Scissor Sisters. These guys are pretty much my brother’s current favorite band, which I find hysterical, but whatever, you’d have to know him to find that funny.

49. Kung Fu Fighting, Carl Douglas. So crank this up when you’re alone and pretend to know karate. It’s fun!

50. Ladies Night, Kool & the Gang. I first fell in love with this song on Saturday Night Live, and I still think Jon Lovitz is a comedic genius, okay? Don’t judge. It’s because of him and Bill Murray that I always wanted to be a lounge singer when I grew up. Clearly, that dream fell flat.

51. Lookin’ Out My Back Door, Creedence Clearwater Revival. Everybody needs a little CCR in their life.

52. Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes), Edison Lighthouse. You know who doesn’t like this song? PEOPLE WHO WANT UNICORNS TO DIE THAT’S WHO.

53. The Love You Save, The Jackson 5. STOP! Something about five harmonizing guys just rings my bell, only, like, in a musical way. Nothing sexual. Shut up.

54. Loved By The Sun, Tangerine Dream. From Legend, of course. Music by Tangerine Dream, vocals by Yes frontman Jon Anderson, just a gorgeous song all around. Plus! You can picture the frolicking unicorns! One might be Jon Walker in disguise!

55. Mario Medley, The Kode. Ha ha, so this isn’t a song you can actually sing to, but who doesn’t do-do-do along with Super Mario Brothers, right?

56. Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard, Paul Simon. Yeah, um, I feel like I keep repeating myself here, but if you don’t like this I suspect you’re some sort of robot.

57. Moon River, Audrey Hepburn. Guh. Favorite movie of ever. I can just picture her sitting on the fire escape, strumming her guitar.

58. Moonshadow, Cat Stevens. Folksy tunes are ACE. I used to drive my friends crazy singing this one.

59. More Than A Feeling, Boston. Another Boston gem that, on occasion, I will air guitar to. Because I rock that hard.

60. Mountain Jumper, Crooked Still. I sometimes like me some hillbilly-ish banjo pickin’ ditties. Who doesn’t like BANJOS? Do you want to break Patrick’s heart, assuming that Patrick loves banjos as well?

61. Mrs. Brown You’ve Got A Lovely Daughter, Herman’s Hermits. Girls as sharp as her are something rare, this is true.

62. My Island Home, Christine Anu. How dorky is it that this song reminds me of Atlantis and I get all, like, OMG JOHN when I listen to it? *hands* IDEK.

63. My Life, Billy Joel. So I’m awfully fond of this song because it used to be the theme song to Bosom Buddies, before they changed it to that having a friend like you song (which I also know most of the words to, because theme song memorization was, like, a thing I used to do, omg, how much of a geek am I?—J still tries to stump me)

64. My Name Is Jonas, Weezer. Hi Blue Album, you are my favorite!

65. Notorious, Duran Duran. I’m not gonna lie, the beginning of this song gets me pretty excited. DON’T MONKEY WITH MY BUSINESS.

66. On Our Own, Bobby Brown. Oh Ghostbusters, what would my life be without you? I couldn’t make nearly as many Stay Puft & Zuul jokes in fics for one thing. Or, like, write entire cracked out crossovers with the premise of Ghostbuster’s II, electric ghost boogaloo. Funnest part of this song to sing? The RAP. That’s not legal.

67. On the Atchison, Topeka, and the Santa Fe, Judy Garland. Yes, okay, this is from The Harvey Girls, so if you want, picture Greta and Patrick singing this, like in my AU that will never be finished!

68. One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces, Ben Folds Five. Pretty sure the title makes it obvious why this song is so much fun.

69. Open Up Your Heart And Let The Sun Shine In, Frente! Who remembers Pebbles Flintstone singing this? ME!

70. Overkill, Men At Work. Sometimes I put this song on repeat. Bonus: acoustic version.

71. Oxford Comma, Vampire Weekend. Hi, I love these guys, you know that.

72. Piece of My Heart, Janis Joplin. I kind of scream this song sometimes. It’s totally freeing.

73. Pink Moon, Nick Drake. I blame that VW commercial, but this always makes me think of hot summer nights in the car.

74. Pushing Up Daisies, The Rosenbergs. I love this for the do-do-do-do-dos alone, everything else makes it AMAZING.

75. Rainbow Connection, Kermit the Frog. Shut up, oh my god, best Muppet song ever. I might even tear up a little.

76. Rebellion (Lies), Arcade Fire. I’m not a huge Arcade Fire fan. They never really caught my interest, but on the other hand, I really, really love this song.

77. Ride Like The Wind, Christopher Cross. My brother used to make me sing the Michael McDonald parts in this, so, like, I do it by habit now. SUCH A LONG WAY TO GO!

78. Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner, Warren Zevon. It’s the tale of a headless Thompson gunner, how is that not made of awesome?

79. Roxanne, The Police. My dad and brother used to screech ROXANNE. That’s probably only funny to me.

80. Running With The Night, Lionel Richie. Please, please, memorize this song and then call me up and SERENADE ME.

81. Safety Dance, Men Without Hats. So I have a dance that goes with this song. I might have been drunk when I made it up. It involves pants. On my head. And the Running Man.

82. Sailing, Christopher Cross. Soooooothing. And if Chris isn’t soothing enough for you, have the ‘N Sync version, too.

83. Secret Agent Man, Johnny Rivers. This is another one that I think everyone should just have, you know. Just in case of double-o emergencies.

84. Shake a Tail Feather, Joliet Jake Blues & Ray Charles. So this scene in The Blues Brothers is one of my favorite scenes, with everyone dancing in the street, omg. I would marry it if I could.

85. She Caught the Katy, Joliet Jake Blues. The opening to this song is one of the best beginnings of any song ever.

86. Simon Smith And His Amazing Dancing Bear, Scooter & Fozzie Bear. I always think of this as the Rodney and Ronon song, so make of that what you will.

87. Sincerely, The Moonglows. I get pure joy out of singing this song. PURE UNFILTERED JOY.

88. Sir Duke, Stevie Wonder. Makes me think of the MUMMERS. You can feel it all over!

89. Sister Christian, Night Ranger. Maybe there are people who don’t like to sing along to this song, I don’t know. Maybe, like, people living on Mars. With Martians.

90. Sloop John B, The Beach Boys. Call for the captain ashore, let me go home!

91. Somebody’s Watching Me, Rockwell. This video used to freak me the fuck out. It’s one creepy ass song, but it gets stuck in your head.

92. Steal Away, Robbie Dupree. My alcoholic elementary school music teacher used to make us count the beats on this song. Everyday, every year for at least three years. I always wondered how they let that slide (we also always watched Oliver Twist and The Phantom Tollbooth twice a year, every year, IDK) and you’d think that’d make me hate this song with a passion, but it’s the exact opposite!

93. Strangers In The Night, Frank Sinatra. Gotta have at least one Chairman of the Board on this list. It’s the kind of song that you know the lyrics to, even if you’ve never actually heard it.

94. Superstar, Lupe Fiasco. STFU.

95. Sweet City Woman, The Stampeders. My brother made up this awesome banjo dance to this. It’s kind of the best dance in the world.

96. Sweet Freedom, Michael McDonald. My secret boooooyfriend.

97. Take Your Mama, Scissor Sisters. Your mom.

98. Takin’ Care of Business, Bachman-Turner Overdrive. BTO! I love the guitar riff on this, and then the piano and just YAY.

99. Truly, Lionel Richie. I’m trulyyyyyyyyyy! Truly in love with you, girl!

100. Under Pressure, Queen. The only thing better than the Queen version is: Under Pressure, The Used & My Chemical Romance. And the only thing better than the MCR version is: Ice, Ice Baby (Ghislain Poirier Remix), Vanilla Ice. Wait, um. That can’t be right.

101. Up On Cripple Creek, The Band. I always liked this song better than The Weight. And, seriously, who the hell names their band The Band? Really? Really?

102. Walk Away Renee, The Four Tops. One of my very favorite oldies, just lots of fun to sing.

103. Walk The Dinosaur, Was (Not Was). Who remembers the dance? ME! Who made up a video with two of their friends and has the VHS recording to prove it? ME! Also featured on this VHS is Shadow and Jimmy, Was (Not Was), and Groove Is In The Heart, Deee-Lite, which involves a four foot tall stuffed frog and a scarf around my forehead ala Spencer Smith.

104. The Weight, The Band. As much as I love Panic, I’m gonna have to go with the original here.

105. What You Won’t Do For Love, Bobby Caldwell. A jazzy little number that I kind of want to sing for you over the internets. And do some sort of shuffle dance.

New soundtrack! Today you get a DOUBLE album, because I couldn't post music for The Magic Friend Band without giving you a sampling from Gerard's Dance Cave of Deep Despair!

Here we've got some fun fun sing-along songs, but you will not find a kids song among them. I was so tempted, let me tell you, but it was more fun to give you these. All these folks are super-awesome. I normally try not to repeat artists, but I couldn't help myself here, so you've got another Pete and the Pirates, another Format, another Murder Mystery, and another Jukebox The Ghost. But! Plenty of new stuff to go around. Turn up your iPod and SING.

Brendon hadn’t actually thought of himself as a busker at the time – even though that’s what his Wiki page claims - but he’d liked singing songs about colors and State capitals and he’d liked doing it outside on his tiny apartment balcony or on the equally tiny front stoop of the building, strumming his guitar or uke or banjo, and he’d never turned down an occasional coin or dollar. 60s & 70s Week: Steve Miller Band

So 60s & 70s Week got a rocky start with my site going down, so this might bleed into next week. I'm sure you folks won't mind :)

A little advice: never go to a Steve Miller Band concert unless you’re really fucking high. The Steve Miller Band specialty is really trippy, extremely long intros to their songs, guitar solos that go on for a half hour, etc. Oh my god, it’s so boring if you aren’t high out of your mind, trust me.

However! Their recordings? Really awesome. Pirate Booty and I have been known to blast Fly Like An Eagle from a hotel balcony. I’m not exactly proud of that, but it’s true. We wore out our tapes playing Steve Miller Band over and over in our bedrooms, cars, etc, and I think maybe my brother liked a few of their songs, but no one I’ve come across has been as dedicated to Steve Miller as PB and I, without the benefit of pot. Lots and lots of pot.

They’re still around today. I believe they're still touring. They were putting out albums all through the eighties and I even own a tape of their last studio album Wide River (1993), though I never bothered to upgrade, because there’s nothing like their old 70s hits.

Personal favorites: um, probably Jet Airliner, although I’m awfully fond of Serenade and Rock ‘N Me, and hell, you know what, I love all these, know all the words by heart and they’re so fun to sing along to, so. Enjoy.

60s & 70s Week: The Guess Who

Welcome to the 60s & 70s week! I'll just be highlighting a few of my favorite bands, some of which are still producing music. Um, this was going to be just 70s, but then I really, really wanted to do The Guess Who, and they span both decades, so. (And later in the week, one of my other highlighted bands will nudge into the 80s. We're playing fast and loose, but I totally can, because no one can stop me!)

So when my brother and me were in high school, the best thing ever was borrowing my dad's car. We had our own cars, but dad's car had a CD changer - a total novelty back then - and there were three CDs that dad ALWAYS had in there. Time in my dad's car for both us was always spent blasting either The Blues Brothers soundtrack, The Beatles' Revolver, or The Best of The Guess Who.

I'm not going to get into the band specifics, but The Guess Who is/was a Canadian rock group and they've had a butt-load of former members, and as far as I know they're still making music under yet another incarnation. I've even seen them in concert with my dad, back in, like, '96 or something.

In college, I got my roommate Brownstone hooked. We'd turn up Laughing in the car and I'd carry the verses and she'd rock the backing vocals and whoever was driving would drum the steering wheel at that part right before "time goes slowly" because we were/are giant dorks. No Sugar Tonight is possibly my favorite song ever. Lenny Kravitz completely ruined American Woman, by the way, god. The original is so much better. The very, very beginning, "American woman gonna mess your mind..." before the riff starts, dudes. Dudes.

I can pretty much sing all these songs by heart, and what you need to do is burn them onto a CD or hook your iPod up in your car and just rock out on your way to work, school, where ever. Make sure it's loud.

I am possibly even more weird about this fic than I am of Certain Coasts Set Apart - it's just got an entirely different vibe to it. So! We've got some haunting songs. Some songs of sadness and love. AKA: The Beatles Music Post of Doom, for no other reason than the fact that Panic amuses me, and I usually listen to The Beatles on Sundays, because it’s an old, inexplicable habit of mine.

This is how much of a huge dork I am:

I grew up on my dad’s Beatles records, and then he transferred them all to tape mixes, and for the last two years of my high school career (basically when I got my first car, the lovely Roxobbin) no music but Beatles music was allowed. I mean none. It was non-stop Beatles magic in the Skooz mobile, which was okay, because even though I chauffeured all my pals around, a good many of them were Beatles freaks, too. In addition:

* I got the entire Beatles catalog for Christmas in 94… in tape form. Which is a tragedy, because Brownstone and I had to start collecting the CDs one by one in college.
* I know all the words to every single Beatles song, and can play quite a few on the piano.
* Freshman year of college, Brownstone and I would hang do-not-disturb signs on our dorm door and refused to answer any summons during all the airings of the Anthologies.
* Our dorm was also covered with Beatles posters, and we nicknamed each other Paul and John, and, oh my god, I think I have a photo somewhere of Brownstone, me, and two of our college pals imitating this famous pose – so Panic cannot be judged by me.
* I somehow talked my parents into paying for a summer elective in college that was an entire week of The Beatles. 8 to 4 everyday for five days. I wrote a paper on Good Night. I got an A+ and it was awesome.

I don’t think I can properly explain my love for The Beatles. They’re just awesome, and I particularly love how they all sing. And, oh my god, Brownstone and I used to quiz each other on their voices and who sings what, WE WERE THE BIGGEST DORKS EVER.

The purpose of this post? To give you a sampling of my very favorite Beatles songs. And this was SO HARD to choose, I’m telling you, because all their songs are my very favorites.

So, okay, this was like a stroll through my college years! Let me tell you about this mix! Volcano is first, because I picture this as, like, the credits roll on this fic okay? And it's stop action Brendon! He's jumping in the air! And then stop action William, he's totally mid-wink, right, but he comes off as DRUNK! And then stop action Gabe, he's giving you a smarmy thumbs up! And then stop action Joe! He's doing finger guns!!! Stop on Adam Brody looking freaked out!! Van Halen is kind of Brendon's I'm pouting at everyone song, and then comes the Regurgitator song, which is Brendon hopping from TAI's bus to his bus to GABE'S DISCO BUS. Blah blah blah KATE EQUALS SPENCER Y/Y?! AND THEN MORE SONGS OF BRENDON'S HUGE GAY CRUSH. We wrap up with classic Cake as the ending credits come up - they're rolling down the highway!
