Internet Meme Munchkin?

Hi everyone,

I play board games (and some card games) with friends every Thursday here in Brisbane and Munchkin is a strong favourite. Tonight we were playing Super Ultra Munchkin of Doom (essentially a bunch of standalones plus Blender), and two of us were talking about making an Internet meme version of Munchkin.

Some cards we were thinking of include:

Race/Class - LOLCAT, O'RLY Owls, Dramatic Chipmunk
Ceiling Cat (sees all cards)
FAIL (Curses)
How Can I Shot Web

there's possibly a LOT that could go into this.

Has anyone attempted to make their own Munchkin variant? What would the structure be? I don't think it'd be too hard if you had the underlying structure (# of cards for each type, how many can affect another, etc).

I started buying the original Munchkin and its expansions before SJG started making the door and treasure decks different colors and started adding symbols of the different expansions to the bottoms of expansion cards. I was thinking about separating out my original Munchkin decks, but there isn't an easy way to separate Unnatural Axe and Clerical Errors because I have the old cards. Can anyone point me to the symbol designs for those two expansions? (I'm not worried about wrecking the cards because an indicent with a ADD friend and soda already fixed that problem.)

Unwelcome Enlightenment

Can somebody help explain to me what the Unwelcome Enlightenment card (from Munchkin Cthulhu) is good for?

To those who don't have it, the text is:
"Play this card on another player on their turn, before they kick down a door. They miss their entire turn, but they go up a level. This cannot be played on someone who is at such a high level that they have to kill a monster to go up."

Obviously I understand what it does - skip a player, but give them a level - but why would you want to do that? (The give them a level part - making them skip their turn is always fun! :) ) I can understand it if you've looked at the next cards and know that you really want to kick down that door (or another player really doesn't, or whatever), but that's about it. Am I missing some obvious benefits of it?

Hello,
I will be in LA next week for a day or two and I'd like to get some Munchkin expansions (Greek/Cthulhu, etc.). Would you please recommend some good store, preferably one that carries Munchkin as well as Arkham Horror type of b-g's.
Monster thanks in advance

PS. You might remember my earlier post along the same lines - my trip to NY never worked out, so my agenda is still the same. ;---)

New Release!

Steve Jackson Games announces for release in January, 2008:

Munchkin Cthulhu 3 -- The Unspeakable Vault

Kick open the Unspeakable Vault!

For years, Goomi has been unleashing his own vision of Cthulhu upon the world,in his comic "The Unspeakable Vault (of Doom)"! Now his unique take on the Elder Gods comes to Munchkin, in the form of Munchkin Cthulhu 3 - The Unspeakable Vault.

(On a side note, even if you're not a big Munchkin fan, go check out Goomi's page. It's weird, funny, Mythos-ishly blasphemous -- often in the same panel. If you like plush Cthulhus, you'll like Goomi.)

This 56-card expansion brings Great Cthulhoo, Dagoon, Narly, and Tindaloo into the pun-filled world of Munchkin. Feed your friends to Cthulhoo, grow Footicles, and use your Inhuman Moan to defeat the Teeny Weeny Mi-Goo.

What darkness lurks in the Vault?

* More Madness! Fear books (logical enough, given the number of tomes that can eat your face), ichor, even phobias themselves!
* More Monsters! Face Goomi's versions of the Mythos gods and creatures... Ygo, 'Zathoth, Nightgaunts, Ghouls, Deepoines, and many more!
* More Things That Put The Hurt On Monsters! Wield the Roman Candle, the giant Hypodermic Needle, and the... Can Opener? Sure, why not? After all, this is Munchkin!

The Unspeakable Vault - more "yum yum" for your Munchkin Cthulhu game.
-- Paul Chapman

Hello,
I will be in NY next week for like a couple of spare hours which I'd like to spend shopping for Munchkin expansions and also browsing and buying new stuff. Would you please recommend some good store, preferably one that carries Munchkin as well as Arkham Horror type of b-g's. Monster thanks in advance

Galloping To The Printer!

We spotted the proofs back late last week, and everything looks good.

This set is scheduled for release in late October or early November. In either case, it'll be on store shelves in time for a very Munchkin holiday season.

Song of Madness

Hello Munchkins of all stripes.

I'm a longtime player, recent buyer and first time poster munchkin fan.

I've got a question about Munchkin Cthulhu though:
Is the Song of Madness song a parody of a real song? If someone could find me a sample or youtube link or something that would help me with the tune, that'd be great, because I'd finally feel as though I'd finally be able to do the card justice.
