remixthedrabble just opened signups for round 5 of their mini-fic remix challenge. Feel free to drop by and sign up as a Remixee (authorizing others to remix your fic) or a Remixer (remixing a work of another author in 100 to 500 words), or both! This challenge is open to any and all fandoms, including rpf, as long as you bring along a few friends so we'll have someone to match you with.

Signups are open until Saturday, October 18, and finished ficlets will be due November 15. Come by! It'll be fun. :)

The District is Delightful and Delicious

In an attempt to generate some new "The West Wing" fiction, I posted a drabble challenge to my fandom journal, 38gnihsurc. The guidelines and themes can be found at the above link. I hope some of you will participate---it's only little bits of writing and if you're suffering from writer's block on other projects, sometimes a break and brief pieces can be good brainstorming activities.

Announcing... finish-a-thon 2008! Yes, we're doing it again.

Remember all those poor, neglected plot bunnies that have been starving from lack of attention, because all those ficathons kept on having higher priority? The stories you wish you could finish, if only you could find the time? Well, fear not, the finish-a-thon is coming to the rescue!

The finish-a-thon is a ficathon, with all the ficathon-like things like deadlines and fellow volunteers to encourage you, but with this ficathon, you write your own ideas. But since part of the encouragement of a ficathon is writing things for other people, what we're going to do, is vote for which story ideas people should write.

Multiverse

Sign-ups for Multiverse 5000 have less than a week to go! This is the last Multiverse, so let's go out with a splash.

For those not familiar with the concept, the Multiverse Crossover Ficathon is a fiction exchange where writers sign up to write a crossover based on the requests of another writer, and get a story written for them in return. The crossovers involve a certain set of fandoms, all of which are space shows. (Except for the fandoms that are actually space books or space movies, but you get the idea.)

Timeline

March 7th: Sign ups start.

March 21st: Sign ups close.

Sometime soon after March 21st: Assignments handed out.

June 31st: Stories due in.

It's like a ficathon that's winner take all! Go over here to bet which team will win and what the winning score will be, as well as what character you'd like to have written for you. If you get the right score and winner, everyone else in the pool writes you a 200-500 word ficlet (or more) about your chosen character. That means you win a whole lineup of fic about your favorite character. If someone else wins, everyone writes the winner a ficlet. If no one bets right (which has happened the last two years), no one has to write anything. Fics will be due two weeks after the Superbowl, February 17.

New comm - Nine Billion Names

Sign-ups are now open for ninebillion, a multi-fandom fic exchange focusing on the role and importance of faith (or lack thereof) in our favourite characters' lives. All faiths/religions/beliefs are welcome, both real and fictive, and being brave and ambitious in your work is positively encouraged. For those who don't feel able to commit to the schedule of a fic exchange but would still like to participate, a list of claimable prompts has also been put together to help get those braincells working.

Sign-ups open: 6th January
Sign-ups close: 1st February
Fics due: 15th March

The core fandoms are "Buffy," "Angel," "Babylon 5," "West Wing," "Firefly," "Doctor Who," "Heroes," "Battlestar Galactica," and 'wildcard' fandoms such as "Life on Mars," "Rome," "Red Dwarf," "LOST," "House M.D.," etc., are positively encouraged. The community will provide on-going support, including writing resources and beta readers. So, come on. Don't you want some fics on why Kendra's so devoutly a Slayer, how having gone to Heaven alters Buffy's view on God and the world in general, or what it's like for Illyria to be a god that's lost it all?

Holiday Faith Fic A Thon

Please all join The Faith-Holiday-Fic-a-thon crappy_gifts . It’s a Holiday based Faith Lehane Fic-a-thon and More! So, we know our little (or better yet big grown-up) hot-bad-ass likes Christmas. She hung the lights in her dingy motel room, bought Buffy and Joyce "crappy" gifts, and stayed with Joyce on Christmas night while Buffy left her alone (that bitch!) So, I want to do a quick holiday, Christmas, Chanukah/Hanukah, Kwanza, New Year’s Eve fic-a-thon for her. I'm sure she'd take any holiday she could get because, hey, a high-school-drop-out, ex-con, child of an alcoholic, Slayer can't be picky. So, here this goes...Or tries to. I've never run a community or fic-a-thon in my life. So, I'm just having a give-it-a-try-theme. Rules are very easy. All ‘ships welcome. You can also post old holiday fics, just request, or discuss.

ggficexchange is a community for Gilmore writers of all kinds. It's a fiction exchange where you write a fic for someone and someone else writes a fic for you. That way, everyone's happy. Head on over to ggficexchange for a good writing challenge.

elite_ggxchange is the equivalent of ggficexchange only more challenging. Authors must apply before joining and their work will be judged. We do this because there will be a winner at the end of the exchange, crowning one person the best writer of that challenge based on their story.
