I haven't seen Pretender in a long time, and this reminded me of why I liked Jarod so much...the cleverness and determination and innocence (not that he saw himself as an innocent) of him. Nicely done.

Ah. You make me want to watch some Pretender now. I wouldn't have expected it. :) Good job.

Lovely. And very much in character for Jarod.

Thank you.

Nicely done, though I have to ask if you've seen the entire show yet? 'Cause there's an ep that does show his reason for leaving . . .

I saw the entire series when it was first being shown, and I've gradually been re-watching it recently, which means I'm sure I've seen the episode in question, and then forgotten about it. Ah well, if the story isn't canon-compliant, that's a pity.

Thanks! 'Tisn't mine, which is too bad, 'cause I love the quote. It's from the Young Wizards book series by Diane Duane (said by a librarian), in case you haven't read them. This one's based on that same series.

That IS a pity, 'cause yours is very well done. As for the reason for leaving, if you remember the name Damon, that should help you (ep 3x05, Betrayal).

I suppose I could handwave it, since canon is inconsistent; at least, if you compare the very first episode with later flashbacks, Jarod's living accommodations are completely different; you look at his room in the pilot, and it looks very comfortable, and yet you look at later flashbacks, and it's like he's been kept in prison all his life. So... (shrug)
