AboutHello, and welcome to the M:TG Marketplace, Livejournal's online trading forum strictly for Magic players. I am Luke (LJ user thomasanderson) and creator of Marketplace.
If you need cards, post the specific cards you need with WANTED in the subject title, and if you have cards you are willing to trade to anyone who wants them, feel free to list them with AVAILABLE in the subject title. If you would rather receive payment for cards instead of a trade, put FOR SALE in the subject title. In any of these cases, you should leave your ICQ # or AIM screen name so others may contact you directly as well as by commenting.
RULES OF MARKETPLACE
This is not eBay...there is no bidding, no feedback forum, and no legal contracts. Because of this, we operate on the honor system.
I don't anticipate the honor code will be broken. The most dishonorable, hypocritical thing a Marketplace trader can do is rip off another. How would you like it if you sent someone cards that you have acquired with your hard earned money, and never saw your half of the deal?
Measures will be taken to make sure people like this do not return to do business here. May I make this very clear that it will not be tolerated. If you want to rip people off, stay out...go to eBay, where you'll be taken care of in a legal manner, like you should be.
In addition, as of February 2004, two new rules have been added:
1) No repack auctions allowed.
2) All trades must be clearly stated; all cards included in the trade must be known to both parties, unless randomness is agreed upon.
That is only what had to be said...I want this to be a pleasant experience for all, and in order for that to be achieved, I felt it necessary.
As for trading, contacts should be made through comments or more directly through messaging services. The more detailed, personal information and instructions for mailing should be given out through messaging or email.
When two parties trade, the cards should be shipped out at the same time, when the deal is affirmed. When one party sells, the seller reserves the right to wait until the payment is received; however, this is not mandatory.
