What does MST stand for?

Mystery Science Theatre.

But what does it mean?

The art of MST (Mystery Science Theatre 3000) originated from
the television show, in which a human and a couple of robots
were forced to watch awful 50's style sci-fi movies. To stay sane,
they performed a commentary of humour and wit to the movies.

So why this community?

The idea behind this community is to subject Chenzel (and other
Wicked RPFS) fan fiction to the same treatment given to bad
movies on the show, to dissect it, to make fun of it, using the
characters from the show as the audience of their own stories.
Some call MST a form of flaming - people with a sense of humour
call it comedic art. Recently there has been a high percentage of
badfic, and so much that a whole new community needed to be
made to let the actual good writers out there, vent out their
frustrations on the badfic.

So is an MST mocking a bad fic, a good fic or both?

An MST generally means to mock something truly awful. But if
you want to write an MST about a good fic, go right ahead.
Just make sure you put some kind of "warning" above the LJ
cut so people know it's praising the good, not mocking the bad!

How do I read the MST’s?

Join the community. It’s moderated membership so if you’ve been
known to post or compliment badfic in the past - you wont be added.
Same goes for members with practically empty journals; unless
one of the mods knows you personally.

What if I want to post an MST of my own?

Post the title, author & rating of the original fic first, then
the actual MST/fic under an LJ cut. This way, other members
don’t have to read it if they don’t want to.
Make sure your post is friends locked.
Feel free to use any of the icons below to accompany your fic.

What if I have an idea for an MST but would do it no justice?

Post the link to the original, saying you'd love it if someone
would MST it. The sit back and hope someone says they'll do it!

Who are the cast of Chenzel MST?

Whoever you want! Usually people choose to use the characters
in the fic that is being mocked. Some use their favourite
Wicked actors/actresses. It’s up to you!

Why are you using the same layout as a certain other community?

'Cuz the mod of the certain other community decided to continue using the gorgeous layout made by
