The first thing that came to mind would be "Jump off the Golden Gate bridge!" but the success would be "And live without anything more than getting a little damp." Or jump off a building and be okay.
The thing is, I'm terrified of heights, because I always imagine that I'd fall to the ground and be horribly injured and in chronic, horrendous pain. I hope that if I jump and arrive safely I won't freak out on cantilevered ledges or ladders.
So maybe the attempt would be "Jump off something really high, hit the ground safely, and no longer have a fear of heights." |

Thankfully, I get tomorrow off. I need to pay rent and do a few errands. One is buying a new iron. I have scorch marks on two shirts now. It could either be because the setting was too high or because of all that crud on the iron surface that never wants to come off. I'm thinking of buying the same cheapo iron I did before and still attempting to clean the other one so I have two irons just in case. I also need a haircut. Not that that has anything to do with irons. But the store and the hair place are nearby. So is the Gamestop. I could use a trip there. There's all sorts of stuff in that plaza, so maybe I'll stop for lunch. I just didn't drive out there with ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) ysidro because I was going the other way anyways.
Mom and Dad are coming this weekend. The visit was planned, but now I'm really gonna need it. We've been considering all sorts of stuff. Like, how is my next review gonna go? Am I gonna go back home at some point? (Of course.) That sort of thing. A while ago, I finally realized I miss home and Erie. One of the library assistants dropped off an extra travel magazine in the staff room last night. I read it over dinner break, and there was an article about Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands, more specifically, Ligonier. Having lived near the Laurel Highlands for a year, I started remembering things and just lost it. I almost cried right then and there. Thankfully I was able to wait until I got back here.
I've really been on edge at work. I feel like I'm screwing up, and add to that that I have a particularly needy patron who keeps asking for stuff. By no means is he stupid, he's just having trouble. I taught him how to use our databases and search for things, but it's not seeming to stick. That, and with the limited timeframe for the requests, I'm not able to get the best stuff. I have a feeling the whole thing will come back to bite me in the ass.
Dad keeps telling me to cheer up and relax. It's getting a little easier, what with a paycheck and a day off, but it's still hard. |

I do belive in ghosts though I have not myself encountered any. The idea that someone would want to or in some cases cannot live those they love is interesting even though it is also creepy. |

On another note I need help from people who write. How do you make someone go when they don't want to? I've been poking Cashie for quite some time but he just sits there and does nothing. I feel like if I want to write about someone then they should start some interaction with other people every so often, but every time I get an idea he does nothing, like he just exists and everyone else has to make an effort to interact with him. I thought I had one in the bag, but he's completely anti-social or something. Is there any way to kick him in the ass a bit or should I just work with what the others are giving me and see if that can help draw him out? |

Who the hell did I piss off to get yesterday?
a) Nearly missed the connecting bus cause of a traffic jam.
b) Was working a double
c) Consistently running out of stuff during lunch
d) from noon till about eight, a steady stream of orders, so I couldn't work on prep.
e) at the point when it was just me running both drahmas, a TWENTY TOP comes in.
f) The guy that was supposed to prep meat and seafood DIDN'T, so running out of stuff during dinner
g) There's supposed to be two people on drahma, one for meat, one for veg. On the days I work a double, when the other person shows, I can clock out and take a break to rest and eat. THAT PERSON DIDN'T SHOW. So I end up working twelve hours straight with no food.
h) when I got out, it was RAINING. I HATE RAIN.
So. Which god did I piss off? |

I'm still a child, some may say that but is it by age or act. When does one become an adult. Is it by the person or society. It's strange how thins work here, earth, the world, the human race. Some animals can remember up to what they ate for breakfast. But I didn't think they really need that information, they live by instinct and not my mistakes. |

Remember the bitch session last night about finding research on China on issues? Guess what I'm doing right now. There was a slight miss-reading so she did instead of "region."
And so this is both both obviously all my and Dad's fault.
After supper I'm fleeing the house and going to Starbucks with my laptop, a book, and a large bottle of pain killers. It's really fucking sad when you have social aniety, and going to a coffee bar is less threatening than staying home. |

I'm researching a paper for my mother on social conditions in China. Except the articles can't be about any of these topics: economics, politics, environment.
So I just sent her articles on the excesses of the upper classes, music royalties, cosmetic surgeries, and disaffected youth.
Also, the daemonic Aunt Mary just called. I was going to go to sleep but my stomach is so tied up in knots from the screaming back and forth on the research, this would be a pointless activity. |

So apparently my book is out. Who knew? Actually someone did, because they emailed me to say they got an email that their copy was on the way, and suddenly Amazon's listing it as "in stock." So apparently Amazon got their orders in early and decided to beat everyone to the punch. I don't even have my author's copies yet. Knowing other people have my book and I do not is a weird feeling.
So you know how people practice their signatures for when they're gonna be famous? I never did that. I should get on that. Especially because I'm not used to signing my name "Marsha Altman." |
