A bona-fide solid-gold stone-cold classic from the sorely missed forebears of Britpop.
Anyone with an ounce of taste will enjoy this one!

"No one ever wore leather keks like Jim Morrison. The footage can make him look a tit-head. But we've all been there." - Ian McCulloch.
Alistair Darling (whatever your view of him or the Labour Party at large you've got to admit that is a GREAT name, like something out of 'Blackadder'!) the Chancellor of the Exchequer has warned that the economic downturn triggered off by the credit crunch may be the worst for 60-odd years. I know who I blame.
We've all seen those adverts. 'Because you're worth it'. So happy and cheery, you-can-have-it-all-if-you-buy-X-product. Bombarded with images of perfection suntan and napalm like these its no wonder that the people watching them, who view mainstream programmes like 'Big Brother' and like, were suckered in to 'free' money and capital because they were told by every media outlet that they 'were worth it'. Because debt seemed like an occupational almost-hazard so common and 'normal' in those days of growth and prosperity. No longer the stigma of, say, the Eighties. But now the tide has turned into a full-blown tsunami of catastrophic proportions and in time honoured fashion its the ones at the bottom who're the ones that are paying. Big fucking time.
Whither the banking system and the Financial Services Authority, meant to be a watchdog on the 'big five' banking institutions of the UK? Asleep on their watch, thats whither. Vanity did for the economy alright. In no small part the vanity of individuals among my commoner community. But the lion's share of the blame must rest with the banking system and City Boys and their narcissistic powertripping assault on common sense while straining every sinew for that million-pound bonus, the likes of which are STILL being dished out while every other fucker suffers. Taking gambles with other people's hard-earned dosh, on odds we now know are breathtakingly similar to those of Las Vegas casino joints, moving vast amounts of wedge around the banking system into dodgy deals and sordid schemes knowing that it is not they who will cop the blame if things go wrong. WHEN things go wrong. Because the banking sector is so essential to the economy (whats left of it), no bank however small or large can be allowed to fail. We saw this with Northern Rock in the UK and Freddie N'Fanny in the US. The Government will bail you out before that happens at cost, of course, to the ordinary taxpayer.
A banking (should that be 'wanking'?) system and community based on lies, deceit and 'sure things' at no risk whatsoever to themselves are allowed to carry on like prosecution-immune superbeings due to our reliance at all levels on cash and material objects to make us feel happy when what actually happens, as the credit crunch has shown, it all comes home to roost in the end.
Because we're worth it.
Peace be upon you,
Sir_Red_Joe.

Nope. Nada. Never.
I've never encountered one because they simply do not exist. They're simulations of a tired or overworked mind, or of delusions and fantasies the likes of which enable Most fucking Haunted and bare-faced charlatans posing as mediums to fleece the easily-led or to their eternal shame elderly people of their hard-earned cash.
How fucking angry does that make me.

When I think about politics, it just drains me. The whole thing just pulls out my cynical side. Because no matter what people say, nothing changes. It is the same old shit, different year.
I knew how I am going to vote for a while...and if I didn't, I would now...
...but I don't think it is going to make anything better...

Hot damn, bitches, haven't I got the best school project ever:
Designing a package for TOAST. What more could I want? Seriously you guys, toast owns my life, especially these tiny, square, yuppie toast thingies. Oh yeah, toast ftw, best project ~*~evar~*~.
Ugh. This is for my, literally translated, MasterTest. BUT this is a Test MasterTest so it's not quite the real thing. Basically the MasterTest is, my teacher pretends to be a proper spokesperson for a company (in this case a toast company), and I'm commissioned to make the packaging. It's all very srs bsns, and I have to pretend it's real, as if I'm getting paid for it. I'm being judged on being customerfriendly, asking questions, a shitload of other things and of course the product itself. Wah.
An other project is one where I work in a team of 5 people, and we pretend to be a real advertising agency. We have to make up a name, a logo, your usual business cards, envelopes and shit like that. Then we get projects, both from school as well as a 4real company. Can't fucking wait. Wah.
Today I've been working on the name for our fake advertising agency (we still haven't decided), we got information on the Test MasterTest, and we watched a film, Goodbye Lenin. It was quite a good film, but it was hard to concentrate because everyone was talking and messing about like a bunch of 12 year olds. Wah.
Also, there was a chance I didn't have to go to Berlin next week, but unfortunately I got pwned and I will have to go. The teacher who is in charge of the Berlin trip will let me know if someone wants to go in my place, so I can get my money back (and stay at home), but I very much doubt it will happen. Wah.
And I have a giant motherfucking headache right now. Wah.
Sorry about the useless entry, but sometimes you just need to bitch, right? Wah.

...the Capital Ring review will follow this evening.
In other news, Liverpool jangled my nerves for far too long last night.
Hollie has had her rotas changed at work (without asking her permission) so I'm not sure we can make our friends joint birthday party on Brighton beach on Saturday. If we do go we certainly can't stay late. It's very naughty to just change rotas like that, I used to have it done to me all the time when I work at Wetherspoons. It sucks
Instead of going to Brighton we are probably going to go out to Sin City on Friday (it's been more that 3 years since I went to Sin City) with the gothic moonsnang and his lady friend. It should be fun. I may go for another walk at the weekend, perhaps section two of the Capital Ring.
Next weekend is busy, busy, busy. Stay Beautiful on the 6th and the Stay Beautiful picnic and Tour of Britain London stage on the 7th.
In other, other news. This story is annoying me
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2008/aug/28/ukcrime
I don't understand why it is being described as a mystery. The police have been unable to search the house, that's probably where the bodies are. If, after they have searched the house, they still haven't found the bodies, then it will be a mystery.
Anyway enough musing for now.

How fricking awesome is the DNC? I'm like a total loser, seriously, cuz I've been watching it and really, really wanting to be there. Which doesn't seem TOO loserish, until you realize that what I most want to do is party with a lot of middle aged sweaty people. Then it gets weird.
I seriously think Obama and Biden should consider Journey's "Don't Stop Believein'" for their campaign song. I mean, surely that would help get the young votes, amirite? And it totally works -- You know, Change you can BELIEVE IN. Don't stop BELIEVIN'? Epic. The only problem is the very first part of the song: it may be too female-oriented for those lame Hilary voters who still can't get over her.
Also? Stephen Colbert just had a Repo Man on his show. FROM HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA. Represent, people. Harrisburg is now on the map!
( And now, have a hilarious Michael Showalter video about music. COMEDIC GENIUS. )
PS - New layout. I didn't make it, but isn't it pretty?

Oh yeah. I'm writing a book. Something nothing of you will ever expect. Its not fiction. It's life. Its coming under the banner of 'Spread the Love'. Someday soon I'll explain all of that. I just now need all the research I can get. I think that's what I'll do when I get back to Umea. I'll spend two months just reading and writing. Unfortunately it'll be a lot harder to get English philosophy and political books over there. I'm insane. And that's part of the point.

Conor Oberst. Is fantastic. And brilliant as always. But just looking at him, I found it very hard to fight the urge to consume some sort of mind altering substance. Like coke or ket, or vodka and valium in the slightest. Shit. I went with the diet cherry Coke and valium instead. I'm so super fucking healthy. Blahhhhh. Get me the fuck out of England!! Manchester tomorrow. The home of Ketamine. Oh no.
