Comedy Challenge Day 38 [20 Jul 2008|02:43pm]

stevetassie
Don't you wish that there was some socially acceptable way to just bail on a conversation you're having that you just don't want to be having. Everybody's had a conversation like this. Maybe it's a chat with someone who has turned out to be ridiculously boring, or a conversation with a friend takes a wrong. Most people, you wife, your boss, don't react well when you just up and walk away in the middle of sentence, but what it you had a big red "abort" button - a conversational failsafe switch - you could hit and BAM! it's over? Or better yet, a jetpack. You just hit the ignition and WOOOOSH! You are out of there. "Do you think I should get a pedicure? I wear sandals all summer, don't you think I should make my feet look their best?" WOOOOOOSH! Your feet look fine from up here, honey!

I give The Dark Knight 4 34 juicy stars. I took off a quarter for the length of the film. It was probably about 30 minutes too long in my opinion. But everything else in and about the movie was groovy. All the performances were good. Aaron Eckhart did a good job. I had seen and heard of negative reviews, so I was thinking it could be good or it could be so-so. But, no. It was very enjoyable. It goes without saying that Heath Ledger's Joker was really remarkable. I had been 'eh' about all this oscar talk for his performance. But, I have no problem admitting that a few scenes involving the Joker made me grit my teeth. One of his monologues in a scene completely sold me to the idea that he could possibly be nominated. We'll see, I guess.

Apart from that, I had a groovy weekend. My previous entry on good times kept-a-comin'

Jordan bought a lot of figures at the Jackson ComiCon but bought one comic lol We had fun, though. I could have had a picture with a sexly storm trooper. But, I forgot my memory card for my camera like a total jackass.

I had forgotten how delish personal pan pizza is...so good.

Jakerz: I saw the Watchmen trailer. It was very good. But, not as exciting as THE FRIGGIN TERMINATOR TRAILER! o...

heated [20 Jul 2008|08:50am]

The day should be cloudy and humid. Its already hot even though its cloudy out. The air is just super blah.

Yesterday was a pretty quiet day. I did workout when I got up and sweated buckets. It was rather disgusting but good.

I had planned on doing some shopping in the afternoon but ended up staying home. There was no motivation to go outside. The heat just melted my brain. smirks

I did end up watching a good chunk of the Firefly tv series. What a cool series. The stories are basically westerns set in the future. Campy? At times but its good fun.The female characters were gorgeous and the male leads were ... umm manly. smirks. The special effects were good. The series was just solid. Its too bad it lasted only one season though.

It was kind of a good thing I stayed home. Unexpectedly, it started to pour outside. Rain just came down hard and the lightening and thunder was bad at times. It was great. It helped cool things off a little but it also helped drive up the humidity too. Thankfully I had my AC turned on but it still didn't help with the humidity.

Today, I'm going to do some shopping and pick up some shirts.

where did I put my deodorant...? [20 Jul 2008|06:44am]

I am still on moving time but all is well. As with most moves, the first week is the hardest. If you don't get a lot of that unpacking done then, your more likely to keep that shit in that box for another 3 months.
All that remains in boxes for me personally is books and some clothes. Again, I have no dress (as my room doesn't have room for it) but now I think I can dance dance without injury.
The hiring movers was excellent, and in the future, I think I will try to save for this.
In my throws of packing I have misplaced some items and I hope to discover them soon. Right now it's my photo album and the adapter for my monitor for my mac mini.
Since I don't have the floor space, I can plan up so I hope to get shelves and stuff for the wall.

While I have not made it more south (ok 2 blocks south) I am now considerably more east and that makes me super happy.
Have a nice day. Maybe today I will learn my new address.

because I get random thoughts in my head and go 'hey, that's a good idea, do that' and then realise it clashes with everything else and the idea will not amount to anything anyway.

I always have the little niggling thought in the back of my mind of 'go back to uni!' I went to college back in 05/06 and got my diploma, and have been working ever since then. Even though I have learnt so much of what is taught in film/photography courses just by working, working and talking to industry professionals, and also doing short courses, I always feel like I should go back to uni. But I always stop when I remember essays.

I HATE essays. haha.

Plus, I think that uni will take away from my work opportunities.

But if I went back to uni, I could get more knowledge, maybe more connections, and more work...and a student card! YAY FOR CHEAPNESS.

Argh. What should I do? Any advice? I know the uni I would go to. I have friends who have been through both the film and photography courses. So I know it's a good place to study. But do I really want to do it for 3 years?

*goes back to watching French movies*

C.S.P.A. news - and a satellite office! [20 Jul 2008|01:30am]

elementalmuse
[ mood | excited ]

Tonight's C.S.P.A. meeting went well. Two of our new members were also there and we have several things in the hopper.

We're excited to announce that, although the main business center for the Colorado Springs Paranormal Association (C.S.P.A.) is still located in our home office, we now have a satellite office for the public at the We3 store in Old Colorado City at S. 25th and Colorado Avenue. This way if people have questions or want to talk to someone in person about setting up an investigation, they can go in there for information. The C.S.P.A. manager there will be Nina, who is also a co-owner of the store. The C.S.P.A. sign is already up in the store window over there, so if you're local and in the vicinity, stop by and say hello!

Beginning in fall, we'll also be conducting members-only C.S.P.A. workshops on various phenomena, including experimentation with psychokinesis (group) as well as variety of other subjects. These will all be held in a selected, private location that will allow us to control the environment. Exciting stuff.

Also, in late fall we have been given permission to conduct an investigation of The Palace Hotel (Womack's) up in Cripple Creek. That won't happen until November, but we're stoked about the opportunity!

For now, we have several outside investigations set up over the next few weeks -- including an upcoming repeat trip to Silver Cliff. In addition, our first annual C.S.P.A. family barbecue is set for Saturday, August 2nd.

Our paranormal investigation family has come a long, long way in the past year and things are getting better and better! We are now pricing professional-level DVR systems with multiple cameras, so we're very excited about that. The best asset we have, though, is our people. ;-) Without great people, you have nothing. We are fortunate!

[ mood | exhausted ]

I am exhausted. I am so behind on sleep it is ridiculous. Here I am staring at the bright computer screen when I should be in my bed with my eyes shut tight.

I want to start by saying that my dearest honda has been sold. I have a new car and I love it, truly. It was sad to see the first car I paid for go but the one I have now is better.
I had an insane week which is why I have declared this to be the weekend that I do nothing.
Yes, this is the weekend of nothing. I don't want to do anything I just want to relax. Last week was busy I only had two days of work in my department and the other three days I had work related classes. I'm so glad those are over. The fire class was the most entertaining, it was definitely the easiest one to stay awake through. Let's see here Wednesday was a bitch of a day. I started training in Pre-Reg and I was basically in a funk for the entire day. It was dismal. Thursday was a bit better yet still got on my nerves. I hate change but it's something I'm still trying oh so very badly to embrace.

I hung out with Emma on Tuesday and Wednesday. We decided to make those nights our weekly tennis playing nights. Tuesday was fun but Wednesday was better. Even though I was buggin' about the work day that I had I didn't let that ruin the rest of my day. I unwound in a healthy and fun way. Right after work I picked up Ricky and we hung out at my house with Chely and Wendell. A few hours later we all went to the park with Emma and had a good game for awhile. My favorite part besides hanging out with ricky again was the jason mraz sing along that we had going in my car it was pretty fun. It was mega awesome to see Ricky again. I especially loved the talk we had when I was driving him home that night. I just wish we hung out more...

I'm sleep deprived right now. I had lousy sleep all week. I woke up early today for the staff meeting. It ran a bit longer than I thought it would but it wasn't that bad. After the meeting I went to my car and across the street to sit with gramps. I talked to him a little bit. I visit him mostly when I feel lost and dismayed. I pray when I'm there and I feel better. I just want things to continue to go positively and well for me.

Last night I was up late relaxing. I talked to Chad for a little bit. I've got butterflies thinking about him right now. He booked his flight yesterday and he'll be back in my arms on August 1st. I cannot wait. Still, until then I cannot lose focus and I will not lose focus while he's here. I need to just push through the days the best I can.

...I'm in desperate need of money. Six more days til payday and it can't get here soon enough. I need to start re-arranging stuff in my room cause I'm buying a new bed next weekend. A new big bed for two! yay! That's gonna set me back a good few but I'm excited for things altogether. I now only need to work on breaking out of my shell at work and being friendlier with the people in my office. It's important cause I really like most of them and there's no way for them to even know it cause I'm so quiet all the damn time. Everyone's been really nice there so far...

it'll only get better. :D

Bridges to Burn had a show tonight and I purposely didn't go once I saw the flyer (and I know ricky will understand). They played a show with mas ke ruido. Eww. I would have definitely seen daniel there and I'm not trying to run into any of my mistakes especially ones that toxic. Looking back is for losers...I really like what's up ahead of me everything is crystal clear.

...13 days. :D

Night time. Why? Because, for us nocturnal creatures, it's the ONLY worthwhile time of the day.

Agenda [19 Jul 2008|09:37am]

Well I plan to get dressed after I get off of here. Then after I "piddle around" here for awhile I plan to go down to SICSA and help with the Dog Wash from 12:30-4:30 and then come home. After that... I don't know. Probably watch something on TV or do more genealogy or "who knows".

I miss going over to the church for service on Saturday nights. Although the decision was only made to suspend it after last Saturday. We are supposed to decide just how we want to proceed on the contemporary/casual service.

I hope it doesn't turn out to be as hot as they are saying it's going to be but it probably will. :(

At least I'm able to hang laundry and not worry if it will dry because of rain, etc. :)

Police are looking for a man who went missing from his ritzy Toronto neighbourhood. Police fear for his safety since prior to his disappearance he made a habit of slashing his neighbours' tires when the park on the street, making him very unpopular. Police urge citizens, for their own well-being to refrain from engaging in this sort of Michelante justice.
