| I would like to take advantage of the pages feature of MT4. However, when I put the following code on an index page, it only shows the 4 most recent entries:<ul>
<MTPages>
<li><a href="<$MTPagePermalink$>"><$MTPageTitle$></a></li>
</MTPages>
</ul> This doesn't really make sense to me, as pages aren't date-based and therefore recency shouldn't matter. I want to show all pages on the menu. I could put something like the following on the templates:<MTPages lastn="999"> I feel there must be a better way. Suggestions? | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| Hello! I just installed movable type and I was messing with the widgets trying to see how the template functioned.
I need to have a custom layout and was wondering if any one was willing to walk me through/ send me to a recommended "building a template for MT4 from the ground up" guide out there?
I know html and Rss, it's the templating system anxiety that's killing me. Any help greatly appreciated.

| Hi,
I haven't installed movable type yet, because I'm trying to figure out if there's anyway I can import new livejournal entries to movable type. I've found that blogger, MT, and Wordpress all have the ability to import old livejournal posts in one giant lump, but can't find anything that will import new posts. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

| I have a MT 3.3 install with 7 blogs on it. One of the authors recently informed me that when she copies text from Microsoft Word into an entry, the preview displays properly, but the actual post converts high ASCII characters into gibberish.
Example: ‘Test’ “Test” – ‘test’ “test” … and test.
Becomes: ‘Test’ “Test†– ‘test’ “test†… and test.
After comparing the template files used by each blog, I found that the blog that displays the high ASCII properly used this line in the template headers: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=<$MTPublishCharset$>">
The blog that displayed incorrectly had this line in the template headers: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
I updated the template, and now the high ASCII characters are displayed properly (the value of MTPublishCharset, in this case, was utf-8). Just thought I'd let everyone know in case anyone else runs into the same issue! | comments: Leave a comment |

| I have just downloaded Moveable Type 3.3. However, I'm not quite sure how one uses it. If it is a program then I haven't got the 'ignition' for it. If it is a library of codes and whatnot then I suppose I'm all set. I'll show you my problem and therefore I hope to have it solved.

| | I can't log into sixapart.com to get another copy of the MT tarball. My login records for my typekey account are back at the house, so I can't recover them for weeks if not months. Does anyone have the UNIX tarball for MT, anything from 3.15 to 3.17? If so, please get back to me. | comments: Leave a comment |

| Ok..I've seem to achieved a -massive- booboo.
I had movable type on one domain on a server..well the server went to crap, and I wanted to move to another domain anyways, so while I was going to move to the new domain I decided..hah..just go ahead and switch servers
That was a nightmare, but it's done..domain? server? check. Both transfered and ready to go..ok go to install Movable type get it in there and it all seems fine. Log in fix the last of the bugs no problem.
Go to change the profile from Melody to the one I'll be using to start the blog...and it won't let me. Invalid log in and all of that rubbish.
Which means I need to update it..no problem I was at verision 3.16 but they have 3.17 up, so I update to 3.17. Cept..it didn't take the update and is still stubbornly holding onto 'I'm an 3.16'...so invalid login, no updating..what now?!
Please help! | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| Ok here is a hopefully easy question for some nice soul out there to answer.
How in the world to I install MT on a Mac & how do I work it once it's on there? I've just tried for 2 hours and I got nothing :/ sn: kristieaq6
Thanks to anyone nice enough to help a clueless mac user out! :) ♥ | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| I'm hoping some of you can share sites that offer free or cheap movable type layouts/styles. I know that Blog Moxie offers awesome styles with great customization, but they're pretty pricey. The basic layouts offered by Movable Type aren't so great, so I'm hoping people know where some good ones are, even tutorials would be good.
I stumbled on this site which offers a stylesheet helper tool for only $10 (unlimited access). I don't think it offers what I'm looking for, but it's a good deal if you're not interested in messing around a lot to achieve the look you want.
Anyway, hope you can help. I'll place this post in the memories if it gets any good responses. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
