If any of you live near Owego, NY - you might find this museum exhibit of great interest. We plan on attending at some point - and are giving serious consideration to wearing our Victorian mourning attire when we do so. I mean, sheesh... they are going to have a coffin on display!!!

Or so to speak. These are actually taken at the new Flint City Cemetery, which acts now as a Potters Field. This is where the bodies from Avondale were moved to.At one time this property even had a greenhouse, until the 1980's.It was largely abandoned until recently, where the local Marine garrison adopted it and now takes care of it's upkeep.

hello all. This is my first attempt at a large picture heavy post,So please bear with me.

These are taken from the old Flint city cemetery,Avondale.Part of the cemetery was moved to the west side of Flint in 1958 to make way for development, and I-475.Unfortunately,there were alot of bodies that weren't moved, and are still being found as more development takes place.

I seem to be on a photo taking binge, so I thought I'd share :)

My boyfriend and I visited Louden Park in MD twice recently (he posted his pictures earlier).   Louden Park is kind of an odd cemetery in some ways.  The older section seems to be very well kept--the grass is cut, things are mostly neat--but there is a lot of wear too.  Statues missing body parts, graves covered in vines, random holes all over the place...I'm not quite as enthralled with it as I am with Greenmount and Mt. Carmel, but it's an interesting place to spend the day, provided you don't fall into a hole :-P

I don't know how I avoided them last time, but Friday I found myself falling into various holes throughout the cemetery.  The ones directly over the graves actually really freaked me out.  Not an "artsy" picture, but this hole was DEEP and filled with bugs.  *Shudder*

A bunch more pictures. Cemetery angel heavy :) )

There are many famous folk buried in this cemetery in downtown Boston, incluidng Paul Revere, Samuel Adams and Mother Goose. However, it was this one headstone that truly caught my eye. I have been unable to find out anything about the deceased so if anyone knows the story behind it, I'd love to hear it.

The inscription reads:

Farervell Vain World I have Enough of the

And now I’m Careles what thou Sayst of me

What Fault thou Seest in me

Take Care to Shun

Theres worke within thy Self

That Should be Done

Thy Smiles I Court not nor thy Frowns I fear

My Care are past my head lies quiet here
