11:40 am - Another stetsonite amongst the LJ ranks!

solusfides
So, after some brief chit-chat a few weeks back, we now find our dear [info]tazoberry joining us on LJ!
She posts just in time to inform us of a yearlong stint with the Americorps. her first post will elucidate us on why she feels called to join such a venture.
If you aren't sure who this is I'm talking about, click on her name and you'll probably figure it out!

Welcome, [info]tazoberry!

michaelsdawn Was Jesus a pushover, in light of his advocation of non-retaliation (Sermon on the Mount) and behavior during the Crucifixion, knowing that such behavior was in fulfillment of prophecy? In other words, if He were in a socially aggressive context, and people were taking advantage of Him, what might his response be? Would He be a doormat and allow everybody to have their way all the time, or would He ever come to a point where He would say say, "wait a minute you guys are not allowed to do this and I am going to respond?" I do not seek the all-ending answer on the nature of our Lord, just your thoughts and ruminations on a somewhat difficult question.

11:26 pm - Terri's Prayer

ninj
(Yes, I just posted this on my own journal. I want to be sure you see it.)

Psalm 109, Emphasis added

O God, whom I praise, do not remain silent,
for wicked and deceitful men have opened their mouths against me;
they have spoken against me with their lying tongues.
With words of hatred they surround me;
they attack me without cause.
In return for my friendship they accuse me,
but i am a [wo]man of prayer.
They repay me evil for good,
and hatred for my friendship.

Appoint an evil man to oppose him;
let an accuser stand at his right hand.
When he is tried, let him be found guilty,
and may his prayers condemn him.
May his days be few;
may another take his place of leadership.
May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow.
May his children be wandering beggars;
may they be driven from their ruined homes.
May a creditor seize all he has;
may strangers plunder the fruits of his labor.
May no one extend kindess to him or take pity on his fatherless children.
May his descendants be cut off, their names blotted out from the next generation.
May the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord;
may the sins of his mother never be blotted out.
May their sins always remain before the Lord, that He may cut off the memory of them from the earth.

For he never thought of doing a kindness, but hounded to death the poor and the needy and the brokenhearted.
He loved to pronounce a curse - may it come on him;
he found no pleasure in blessing - may it be far from him.
He wore cursing as his garment;
it entered into his body like water, into his bones like oil.
May it be like a cloak wrapped about him, like a belt tied forever around him.
May this be the Lord's payment to my accusers, to those who speak evil of me.

But You, O Sovereign Lord, deal well with me for Your name's sake;
out of the goodness of your love, deliver me.
For I am poor and needy,
and my heart is wounded within me.
I fade away like an evening shado;
I am shaken off like a locust.
My knees give way from fasting;
my body is thin and gaunt.

I am an object of scorn to my accusers;
when they see me, they shake their heads.

Help me, O Lord my God;
save me in accordance with Your love.
Let them know that it is your hand, that You, O Lord, have done it.
They may curse, but you will bless;
when they attack they will be put to shame, but your servant will rejoice.
My accusers will be clothed with disgrace and wrapped in shame as in a cloak.

With my mouth I will greatly extol the Lord;
in the great throng I will praise Him.
For He stands at the right hand of the needy one, to save his life from those who condemn him.

Yes, I'll admit that can be a bit of a read. But if you skipped it, go back and read it.

I mean it, go back. Read. At least one life hangs in the balance. Is it worth the life of a human being to go back and read one chapter of the Bible?

Back when Roe v. Wade was ruled upon, a spirit of death was released in this nation. We're at a fork in the road. We can either let Terri die, and continue on the road, allowing the spirit of death to take more ground.

Or, we can stand up, turn around, and loudly proclaim, "We're not gonna take it any more!" Pro Life, from conception to the grave, no human intervention. (Well, no human intervention to speed up death. Medical care to extend life, that's good)

I'm even finding some of my views changing. I used to support the death penalty. But now...I don't know.

(Although I think it funny that we'll give death row inmates a lethal injection, killing them instantly, but they'll let an innocent slowly starve to death)

Take a few minutes and read the above passage. And any time you eat, or even get something to drink, say a prayer for Terri. She can't do either anymore.

And remember, she's started day 14 with no food or water (aside from a drop of communion wine). Most of us would have died by now. But God is supernaturally sustaining her. So there is no doubt that His hand has done it.

So, here it is, a place where those from the recently being deemd just-about-defunct Fidesnet Forum can yack to and with each other. All the while, I'm working on a way to perhaps connect this group, and perhaps another down the road (as well as our own LJ's perhaps) to a new system I'm working on setting up.

Otherwise, here's the first and formal posty of this new community thingie.
let's see how it runs... or doesn't.
