Taking Chances (My First Morgan/Garcia Fanfic)

Hey guys! My name is Anne! I've been lurking around this forum for awhile, and I've read lots of great stories, and I finally got the nerve to share my own with you all!

Title: Taking Chances

Author: Marcalbabe (Anne)

Summarry: Agent Derek Morgan is in town looking for his brother's killer. What happens when he meets his brother's killer, but it's the one girl he's fallen for? (Completely alternate universe, and includes a strong JJ/Reid pairing, the main focus is Morgan/Garcia though)

Warnings: It's rated M-but will eventually get to NC-17. It deals with the very strong subject of rape. It is a dark story, but it will have a light at the end of the tunnel.

Please review! It really helps me to keep on writing :)

New Fan Who Came Bearing a Fic!!!! 0_o
A/N- Hey everyone!!!! *waves* My name is Alaina but you can call me Laina or Lainy. I'm only 15 but I've been writing for about 3-4 years. I have been a Criminal Minds fan since I saw the season 3 episode 9"Penelope" on TV, and a Morgan/Garcia fan since he first said, "I love you, you know that, right?" Which was in that episode. :-P

Since I am a first time poster at this community, I came bearing a gift. It's only my second M/G fic and it may become a series. It depends on how many comments I get. LOL Please R&R! Thanks!!!

Title- Holding Me & Loving Me
Summary- Takes place during the episode called "Penelope". It's after Morgan takes her home and what happens during the night before the officer gets shot.
Disclaimer- I don't own Criminal Minds CBS does and I don't own the characters or writing of the show. :-)
Author- zikki4eva (Lainy)
"But if you're thinking of taking advantage of me...let me call my doctor so you can revive me after."

They both laughed softly and Penelope turned around to walk into her bedroom.

"Hey silly girl..." He said with a smile plastered on his face still.

"Huh?" She turned around.

His face got suddenly serious.

"I love you, you know that, right?" He said quietly.

Shock overcame her features.

"I love you, too." She smiled.

"Go to bed." He waved off and went over to the couch.

She turned around and started taking the pillows off of her bed. Instead of going to the other side of the bed and getting the pillows that she couldn't reach, she stretched over her bed and then cried out in pain. Morgan rushed through the door.

"What happened? Are you ok?!?!!" He asked frantically.

"Ya. I just did something really stupid and it hurt. I'm fine, though."

"Let me help you get in bed." He suggested. She nodded and he pulled back the covers. He helped her get on the matress and pulled the covers up to her chin. He kissed her forehead and began walking away.

"Wait..." She called.

"Are you ok?" He asked, concerned again.

"Ya, but..." She diverted her eyes away from him.

"Baby Girl, you know you can tell me anything."

"I know. It's just...kind of embarrassing."

"Penelope...?" He demanded.

She sighed and closed her eyes. "Could you...could you hold me? Just until I fall asleep. Then you can go back to the couch." He face flushed a light shade of red as she peeked at him.

"Of course." He shrugged. He walked over t the bed and got under the covers. Garcia was on her side when Morgan gathered her in his strong arms. He face barried in his neck and his chin rested on top of her blonde hair. He notcied that Penelope's body was stiff. His hands began roaming her body; her back, shoulders, stomach, and hip. She moaned in pleasure and looked at him. His hand rested on her thigh and he smiled down at her.

"Enjoying what you're feeling?" She asked as her hand brushed under his shirt to touch his skin.

"Every bit of it." He grinned and kissed her nose.

She pouted at him and gave him a look of plead in her eyes. He could just kiss those pouty lips. So red and full. He blinked a few and brought his attention back to eyes.

"What's that look for, Princess?" He whispered.

"You stopped."

"Oh...sorry."

He began rubbing her back and hip again. Garcia noticed that he wouldn't look at her.

"Derek?" She asked.

He still didn't look.

"Hey..." She whispered and put her hand on his cheek. He looked at her with tears in her eyes.

"Baby, I'm ok." She said and brought his head down as he nuzzled it in her soft neck.

"I was so scared you were gone." He said quietly. "I love you, Penelope. You mean SO much to me. I don't want to lose you. I was so mad at myself when you got pissed at me. I'm sorry. This is all my fault."

"Hey hey hey! Is it NOT your fault, hon."

"But if I wouldn't have said anything-"

"No 'but's or 'if's. What happened, happened. It's all over now. Look, I'm here. Isn't that all that matters?" She was searching his eyes and he silently nodded.

"Good. Don't you blame yourself, ok? It wasn't your fault at all, no matter how much you don't believe it."

He nodded again and sighed.

"You stopped again..." She smirked.

He chuckled and began massaging her again. They lay there for a few moments. Just staring at eachother.

"Pen...there'es something I've wanted to do for a long time, but I've bene afraid of how you would react..."

"What is it?" She asked softly.

He didn't respnd. He just leaned down and captured her lips in a heated kiss.

A/N- TBC?!?! R&R!!!!

You Don't Deserve Her

TITLE: You don't deserve her
AUTHOR:guiltyreasons
RATING: NC-17
WORD COUNT: 8183
SUMMARY: Morgan tries his best to come to terms with the fact Garcia is with Kevin now, but when it's right in front of him will he hold his tongue?
WARNINGS: First time sex, little angst
DISCLAIMER: I don't own these characters, nor am I making any money from them.

The little details killed him. It used to be every morning she’d come by with a good morning, like clock work. Now, it seemed she was always late and looking a little disheveled when she did arrive. She didn’t answer the phone like she used to. Sure he’d get a little ‘sweetness’ here or there, but gone were the days of ‘talk dirty to me’ and all the other wonderful things that made him smile. His Garcia had changed so much and for what? For him?

His eyes drifted over to the doorway of Garcia’s office as he got himself a cup of water from the water cooler. He could see ‘him’ in her office. His hair was a mess and he’d gone back to wearing those damn glasses. His shirt looked like something on discount at Walmart and his pants were the color of pea soup that’d he’d worn all week. There was something new on him though, a bright red scratch on the back of his neck standing out like a medal of his conquest. He could imagine her fingers digging into his neck as she faked bliss under his thrusts.

Derek felt his whole body bristle in distaste. He turned back to his desk and decided to dive back into reports.

After that Derek couldn’t use a red pen for weeks without thinking of that mark on Kevin’s neck. He’d withdrawn from most conversation with Garcia and let her have her honeymoon period. This guy was all Garcia seemed to want to talk about anyways. He’d over heard her talking to JJ about something to do with strawberries.

A case had pulled him away from the situation, hundreds of miles from it in fact. They didn’t need a lot of technical backup and what information they did need from her he let the other agents get. It wasn’t like he was the only one with a cell phone.

To prove to himself how much he didn’t miss Garcia he fell into the welcoming arms of a female officer. The night had been pleasant, but it was as filling as Chinese food. He was hungry twenty minutes later, hungry for something he couldn’t have. He left her house early on the pretense of having work to wrap up on the already solved case and said he’d call. As he drove from the house he realized that he hadn’t even bothered to get her number.

He got onto the jet and made a point of keeping his headphones on the whole time. He found himself listening to bands she’d told him to look into. They were different, mostly alternative, and reminded him of her in so many ways.

He couldn’t understand himself, it was like he was living with a Garcia shaped hole.

Morgan got off the jet and was walking through the airport when his cellphone went off. He picked it up and saw the name. He sighed and put it back into his pocket. He didn’t want to talk to her right now. The ringing stopped, only to start up again. He figured on her third attempt she deserved an answer.

“Hello, apple of my eye, what can I do for you?” he said in his most cheery, but not telling voice.

“Where the heck have you been? This is call number three,” she exclaimed.

“Call three and I was in the bathroom, even gods of studliness have to go,” he told her hoping to play it off.

“Masturbation or number two? If it’s number one than I’ll have to demand you get a prostate exam and I’m figuring you’re not too keen on having an old man’s finger up your ass,” she said and than her breathed hitched. He felt himself inwardly flinch, but he wasn’t about to drag up those old memories. He had enough ache in his life at the moment.

“No, no it’s not that,” he said forcing a chuckle, “Let’s just say I drank the local water and it didn’t agree with me.”

“Sweetness is that your way of trying to tell me you have herpes?” Garcia teased.

Morgan couldn’t help but laugh at that. God it felt good to be talking like normal. Than that was all broken. He heard smacking sounds and than soft groans from Garcia. It was matched by a man’s grunt and he tried not to imagine what Kevin was doing or touching to make her make that sound.

“Hon, the headset’s live,” she explained through a giggle.

Morgan held the phone away form his ear so he could give a deep growl. Dear god could he rip the little, squishy man in half now? He put the phone back to his ear when he‘d calmed down.

“Sorry about that, sweetness,” she said simply. “I was calling to ask if you wanted to go to a play with me tonight.”

“Tonight? I just got off a case, I don’t think I’ll be up to watching a play,” he said, it was way to easy to get out of it.

“Oh,” she said in a heart breaking tone that made him regret backing out, “I should’ve thought of that. It’s just we never see each other anymore and I was really hoping…”

“Alright, alright, stop pouting. I’ll go with you okay goddess?” he said feeling bullied into it. She knew he couldn’t resist the sound of her whimpering.

“I knew you’d agree. Met me at the Paramount at seven. See you there hotness,” she cooed to him before hanging up.

Morgan couldn’t say he wasn’t looking forward to going out on the town with Garcia. He’d missed his quirky girl friend and her sense of humor. He’d never felt so desperate to laugh in his life.

He went home and put his bags away. He took his dog out for a quick walk and made himself enjoy it. He ignored the fact he kept looking down at his watch like an anxious puppy. He took the dog home early and got himself into a shower. He dried than took his time dressing. He decided on a silky, dark grey shirt, leather coat, silver chain necklace and black pants.

The ride to the theater seemed to take longer than it’s actual twenty minutes and the five minutes finding a parking space was torture. He had to admit he was excited to see Garcia. It’d been months since they had done something alone, together, just the two of them. He didn’t care if she had a boyfriend he was going to cuddle his little giggle machine and act like nothing had changed.

He got his car parked away and got out. He made his way through the crowd looking for his peacock. A flutter of color told him exactly where she was. He went over and put his arm around her before kissing her cheek.

“Hey there baby girl, ready to go see a show with your favorite man?” he asked. He’d promised himself he’d play it like Kevin had never happened and he was planning to.

“Yes, both of them,” Garcia said and nudged her chin towards the ticket booth.

To Morgan’s dismay Kevin was buying tickets. He had to find a way out of this, away from the couple. Derek Morgan had never been a third wheel and wasn’t playing on starting with them.

“I didn’t know this was a date,” Morgan said letting go of Garcia and packing up a few paces.

“It’s not,” Lynch said as he came up and handed Morgan a ticket, “It’s an olive branch.”

“What?” Morgan asked with a raised brow.

“I just want us all to be able to get along. Not that we don’t, but it’s not like we do either,” Kevin rambled and Morgan could barely keep up.

“Okay, so you want to be friends?” Morgan asked his face having not changed.

“Sure, I guess. I just want Penny not to feel she can’t be close with you while still with me,” he said putting his around Garcia and hugging her close.

Morgan wasn’t sure which had him more annoyed. Was it the fact that Kevin was putting his plaid jacket covered arm around Garcia and she seemed to be liking it? No, it had to be the fact he called her Penny. No one called his Penelope, Penny. Pennies were common. He found them littering the streets all the time. Garcia should never, ever be called Penny.

“Oh well, I’m glad your so open minded,” Morgan said not sure how to approach this. Just having to watch them stand there cuddling was enough to make him want to scream.

He had nothing against geeks, he was best friends with Garcia after all, but did Kevin have to up it so much. The guy had no style, couldn’t hold himself right and fidgeted non stop. Did Garcia really have to go out with a geeky guy? She could get a hot stud muffin like she‘d always wanted instead of settling.

“Looks like the theaters open,” Garcia said and turned towards the door. She took Kevin by one arm and Morgan by the other. He straightened his jacket and looked down at her. She was giving him a lopsided apologetic smile. He forced himself to smile back as he was dragged into the theater by the cheerful tech. It was tough getting through the crow, not to mention the door, as a threesome, but Garcia refused to let either of them go.

They all sat down a few rows back from the stage, Garcia in-between the men. There was an long, awkward silence since none of them were sure what to talk about. All that Morgan could do was hope that some psycho out there needed catching and Hotch would be calling him in. As always, when he needed to get called into work he wasn’t.

The lights went down and the actors started. It was a local play, with actors from around the city. It was low budget, but the story was good and the acting surprisingly made up for the lack of effects. It was the type of thing he’d only see for Garcia.

He turned to her half way through the play and was surprised to see her still watching. It was a dark room, shouldn’t Kevin be kissing her by now? Sure, they weren’t alone, but Derek had never let that stop him. If he was the one with Garcia her pretty pink make up would have already be smudged and her hair frizzy from his hands being tangled in it.

The play forgotten he found himself staring at Garcia. By this time he’d completely forgotten that Kevin, her boyfriend, was only inches away. She had such pouty lips. Her eyes were so bright, almost youthful as the watched the play unfold in front of her. As much as she looked good covered in make up, she could do without it. Her hand had snuck it’s way into his and it felt so natural he hadn’t even noticed it. He couldn’t help but feel proud that she wasn’t even holding Kevin’s hand.

Morgan felt eyes on him and turned his attention towards their owner. Kevin was staring at him as he stared at Garcia. Their eyes met, Kevin’s full of annoyance. Morgan gave him a half assed smiled, which turned into a smirk, before turning his attention to the stage.

It was a two hour play, but it felt so much shorter. The lights of the house came up and Morgan immediately stood. He stretched his legs, his knees aching from sitting in the cramped seat.

“Ready for dinner?” Garcia asked turning to him. Her whole body was facing him and her eyes shone brighter than he remembered. Had it always been like this? Had Garcia always been adoring him like this and he hadn’t bothered to notice. Maybe he hadn’t been ready or willing to see it. He reached out and took her hand. Well, he saw it now.

“Sure mama, I’d love too,” he told her.

“Great, we’re going to The Corinthian down on fifth street,” said an unwelcome voice from behind Garcia.

“It’s a great place,” Garcia commented, “We go there all the time.”

“Oh?” he said than made a face, “Not vegan or any of that weird shit right?”

“Nah it’s a burger place. Want to met us there?” Kevin asked with a friendly smile, Morgan didn’t even try and return it.

“Sure, I’ll met you there,” he said and turned towards the end of the aisle. The couple fallowed behind him and they stayed rather close as they started out the door. He made a hasty good bye than went to his car. He got in and turned on the engine. He had a brief moment where he thought about ditching them, but he couldn’t do that to Garcia. He really had no choice, but to join them for dinner and play nice.

The drive to the restaurant was short, but the rain that had started to fall soaked him on his way inside. It was cold within the diner and there only seemed to be three people in there, none of which were his friends. Than he spotted them in the back, their foreheads were rested together and they were talking as they randomly kissed from time to time. His blood ran cold, but he took a step forward towards the nightmarish sight.

“Hey, enough of that kids or I’ll have to call your parents,” he mocked.

The couple pulled away from their trance and looked up at him hazy eyed. He sat down in the opposite both and sprawled his arm over the back of it.

“What did you guys think of the play?” Garcia asked anxiously. She seemed so happy to have both of them together. Derek wondered how she’d feel if she knew this was killing him. She was so close, yet impossible to get to. He’d played himself into the old cliché of wanting only what you can’t have.

“I loved it. The acting was really good. The set design was cheesy though. I’ve never seen so many flowers used on one wall before,” Kevin observed. They both turned expectantly to him.

“Oh, huh, it was pretty good. Not my type of thing, but interesting none the less. I thought the main characters obvious obsession with his father could have been expanded on a bit more. If the whole play was based on getting past his father’s death it should have said more about what the father meant to him,” he said trying to upstage Kevin. It wasn’t really hard to do.

“Wow, I’d never considered the possibility of a profiler being so useful as a critic. Although the job obviously means you guys notice everything,” Kevin said his voice tense like he was getting annoyed, but it didn’t seem that Garcia picked it up.

“Yeah, that was really insightful. Than you always say the coolest things after movies so I’m not surprised this isn’t different,” she said than got up, grabbing her purse, “Sorry guys I’ve got to go use the bathroom real quick. Try not to kill each other while I’m away okay?” She leaned on and kissed Kevin on the cheek than gave Morgan one as well. She was off in a flutter of colors towards the other end of the diner leaving the boys alone.

Morgan took a sip of the complimentary water and looked over Kevin once more. The other man seemed to be giving him a similar once over. The silence and the tension could have been plucked and play just like a harp.

“So, are you serious about her?” Morgan asked as he put the glass down.

“Yes, very,” Kevin said calmly, “What about you?”

“What about me?” Morgan asked keeping his face tight and stern. He didn’t plan to give this guy an inch.

“Were you ever serious about her even for a moment?” Kevin asked making Morgan raise a brow.

“We were never--”

“No, you weren’t but you sure broke her heart because she was. She hadn’t told me anything much, but I know. She’s holding back from me. Part of her heart is still with you, no matter how misguided it is,” Kevin said his tone much deeper and steadier than his normal tone.

Morgan was surprised. He hadn’t thought that Kevin had the balls in him to say something like that, so soon. Maybe this guy really did have sincere feelings for Garcia. He couldn’t help but feel a small twinge of guilt over what he’d been thinking all night. At the same time he knew he too had sincere feelings.

“Who says her heart’s misguided?” Morgan said paused as he heard the sound of high heels behind him, “Maybe I care about her too. Maybe I want to be with her.”

“You don’t deserve her,” Kevin said his voice raising in volume and pitch.

“What?” he demanded glaring at the other man.

“You don’t deserve her. You ignored her for years and now suddenly, when she could be happy, you have to have her. You just can’t handle seeing her with someone else. It was like you were keeping her on retainer, paying her with compliments and false flirting. She did everything she could to make you happy and it was never enough. Instead of returning her affection you did everything you could to keep her at arms length. Can you imagine how it feels not to think your good enough for someone your in love with? No I don’t think you can. Guys like you only every think about themselves,” Kevin accused him jabbing his finger at him violently at the moment important parts, “So give me one good reason why you deserve to even talk to her.”

“Because I love her!” he exclaimed smacking the wooden table top with one hand. He than sat back in the booth, the emotional outburst had his heart racing . He was so angry that the other man thought he abused Garcia he could hardly think. He hadn’t meant to every hurt his angel, but he realized he must have, at some point. Had there ever been a time when she’d been smiling through tears and he hadn’t picked up on it.

“I’ve heard that before,” said a soft feminine voice behind him.

He turned and saw Garcia standing there with the saddest look on her face. He got up and put his hands on her cheeks wishing he could erase that look.

“I mean it baby girl, always have,” he said and was surprised when she pulled away.

“God Derek, I just don’t know what to think,” she said and went over to Kevin. It felt like someone had just punched him in the gut. He watched her put his hand on his shoulder and didn’t know what to do. Was he being rejected?

“I made a commitment to Kevin, I can’t just leave him because you had an epiphany,” she said her voice cracking a little.

Kevin got up and took her hand. He gave it a gently kiss before shying.

“And I can’t be with you because you feel like it’s your duty to be with me. I want you to be with me before you picked me over everyone else and you want to be with me the most,” Kevin said forcing a smile on his other wise anguished features, “I’m bowing out until you’ve had time to fully think this over. It’s not fair to force you to stay with me like that.”

“Kevin…” Garcia said leaning into him, but he put a finger on her lips.

“No, no, I want to do this. I’ll still be here if you decide I’m what you need and if I’m not than I’m not,” he said tears swelling up in his eyes, “So, I’m gonna….head off.” He looked to them both awkwardly before stuffing his hands into his pockets. He walked past them and quickly out of the door.

“Baby girl--”Morgan started as he tried to go in for a hug, but was stopped by a small hand on his chest.

“No, sweetness, I need time to think about this. Lot to process. I need some time alone,” she said unable to met his eyes. She walked past him with her head down and tears making black lines of mascara run down her cheeks.

“Can I at least drive you home?” Morgan asked knowing she’d come with Kevin and that he’d already driven off. The other man had likely figured that they would be going home together. Morgan sure the hell ha assumed that.

“No, I’ll catch a cab,” she said her voice straining against a sob.

He watched her unable to go after, unable to look away. He felt helpless and scared. Had this been a mistake? Had he ruined the only good, solid relationship he’d ever made in his life. He was glad he hadn’t eaten yet because his stomach was turning. He walked out the door ignoring the waitress who was giving him the oddest look. He could imagine that the whole thing must have seemed like it’d been out of some soap opera.

He got into his car and started driving. He sped at least twenty over the speed limit and ran red lights. If he got pulled over he’d flash his bag and if that didn’t work he’d tell them where to stuff it. He wasn’t in the mood to play nice with the local.

He parked his car crocked as could be and stormed inside. He didn’t bring his dog out of the garage and he didn’t turn on the light. He went straight to the fridge and pulled out a beer. He popped the top off and drank half the contents down in one swig. He slammed the bottle down to the counter and was surprised it didn’t break under to the force.

What had he been thinking? He didn’t do relationships. Morgan wasn’t the settle down type of guy. He’d picked the type of job that was all consuming and made sure that him not having a love life looked normal. He never called a girl back and rarely remembered their names. He didn’t storm home in the middle of the night and try desperately not to imagine how he’d live if he got rejected.

His fist slammed against the counter.

The thought of Garcia not being there tomorrow, of not being able to call her or go see her, made his heart ache. There was nothing he could do to stop it. He put his hand to his chest and rushed at it as if he could massage it away. He was out of control of his own feelings in a way he’d never allowed himself to be. He’d given part of himself to another person, tied his happiness with someone else’s and now he was paying the price.

Hadn’t he learned? Hadn’t so many years of abuse and nightmares been enough to keep his mind more focused. He should have seen this coming. He should have backed off, but Garcia was a force of nature. She’d swooped in and made a nest in the middle of his life. Now he was dependent and anxiously watched the skies for her return.

Why couldn’t he figure it out? People always let you down.

He tossed the still half full bottle of beer at the wall and it shattered. Shards of glass went flying everywhere as the liquid left a stain in the white wall. His rage wasn’t satisfied. He ran over to the wall and punched it, luckily not hitting a stud, but instead going right through it and leaving a hole. He stared at the now empty space within the once sturdy wall and felt a thousand metaphors washing over his thoughts.

He put his hand over his eyes and tried to calm his breathing. Fuck, when had things gotten so complicated? He sat down on the floor resting his head against the cupboard that he’d been pounding on a minute ago. His breathing was slowly calming down as he stared at the ceiling in the pitch black room.

He could hear the sound of waves hitting the shore in the distance. There wasn’t any water near by, but he could hear it. The sound was so deeply ingrained with the feeling of agony he always heard it when he was upset. Fallowing it was the feeling of warm sand under his naked feet and a certain pain he’d never forget. He closed his eyes against the memory, against the current pain.

He ran his hand up and rubbed the back of his neck, easing the tension out of the muscles. When had he lost control? When had she worn his walls away completely? Why was it that even now when he thought of her smiling face he still felt good? Was this love? The ability for one person to make you feel better no matter what was going on in your life? God than he’d been in love with Garcia since the day they met.

He wasn’t sure how long he sat there, with his eyes shut and his mind racing. He stood up and started towards his bedroom, a side glance of the clock told him it was ten past two. He was half way down his hall when a knock came at the door. He stared at it cautiously. He took his gun from it’s holster and shoved it into the back of his pants.

“Who is it?” he asked in a stern tone.

“It’s Garcia,” said a soft voice from the other side.

He immediately went to the door and opened it. She was standing under a white and black polka dotted umbrella. She’d fixed up her make up and had obviously done up her hair. She looked fresh and refreshed although it was two am. Than again Garcia didn’t sleep all that often, Morgan could relate. Now was different. This wasn’t a social call, she’d obviously had come to a decision.

“Come on in,” he said motioning for her to come in. She took a moment to put down her umbrella before coming in. He shut the door and they stood oddly for a moment, neither wanting to be the first to speak. It was Garcia who spoke first.

“Did you mean it?” she asked again.

“Yea,” he said, “I meant it.”

A little smirk crossed her lips and it made him echo it. She wasn’t looking at him, no she seemed much more interested in his wall at the moment.

“You have no idea how long I’ve waited…”

“Hopefully not too long,” Morgan interjected.

Garcia wondered over to the couch and sat down like she was to exhausted to stand anymore. She was still staring out, although now her gaze had moved to the carpet. Morgan sat down beside her worriedly. He couldn’t be sure if this was a good sign or a bad one. Hell of a profiler he was…

“Do you know what I did after the first week we started working together a lot?” she asked softly.

“I don’t think so,” Morgan answered.

“I lost twenty pounds,” she told him, “I went on this insane diet program, not quit starving myself but close. I was working out a lot and trying so desperately to get thin. I kept thinking, maybe if I drop five more pounds he’ll notice to me. So I struggled and I kept up with it. I thought it’d worked, because the day I officially was twenty pounds thinner you asked me to go out with you after work. I had this crazy idea that this was a date and you were one of those guys that wasn’t interested in looks. I was so damn excited. I bought a new dress, got my hair done, spent hours doing and redoing my make up. You picked me up looking just as good as you always do. Any memory of what happened that night?”

Morgan paused recalling what he’d done, but realizing the mistake he’d made now.

“I’m pretty sure I spent most the time chasing tail,” he said with a sigh.

“I’d never felt so humiliated in my life. You were talking to every pretty girl that walked in and forgetting about me. I cried so much that night after you took me home. I blamed you for being shallow, and heartless. I hated you so much that night, but I understand now why you did it…”

“You do?” he asked. He wasn’t sure if he even understood.

“I didn’t have all the pieces of the puzzle back than. I didn’t know what about your childhood. You did that to me because you can’t be close to someone. You can’t love someone and be with them at the same time. Physical intimacy and feelings just don’t connect right for you because past experience has taught you that emotional pain and sex go together.”

“Which one of them told you that?” he asked knowing profiler babble when he heard it.

“Hotch,” she said with a little smile, “But it make sense.”

Morgan nodded and waited for her to continue.

“You know it’s really hard to believe you when you say you love me. You’ve told me that before. You told me after I got shot. I thought you meant it then. I thought the shock of almost losing me had knocked some sense into you. I was so happy when you’d said you loved me and I even said it back, able to finally voice what I’d been thinking for years. That night, I waited up for you. I imagined you’d come in, kiss me and just be with me. I didn‘t care if it was love making or just ‘thank god your alive‘ sex. I just really wanted you to come to me, but you didn’t. You stayed not thirty feet away on the couch even though you’d just admitted you’d loved me. That was when I decided I had to move on. It was the next week or so that Kevin approached me and I let myself be swept away. I wanted to get over you, to get past you, but I couldn’t. You will always be the ruler that I measure all men by. That doesn’t mean that Kevin wasn’t a good guy. He was, we had a lot of fun together, but something was missing. He doesn’t have the passion you do. He never made me feel like I was safe. He just wasn’t you.”

Morgan listened to Garcia pour it all on the table and he realized just how much Kevin had been right. She had been suffering because of him.

“Garcia,” he said putting his hand on her shoulder. She leaned over and put her head to his chest. She nuzzled in and he hugged her to him. She was warm and soft in his arms. His fingers ran up and down her arm tracing every last freckle. Her breathing slowed and her body loosened in his embrace. He knew, that for all she was saying, she still wanted to be with him. She didn’t have to say it, he could feel it.

“I love you so much,” she whispered into his chest, “I love you because of the man you are. In my eyes you’re a hero and I know you’d die for me without a second though. I’ve never felt like I can depend on someone like I can depend on you.”

“I love you too,” he said kissing the top of her head, “I can’t wait to call you every day. I wonder what your doing randomly during the day. I remember dumb, cute little things you say or do and recall them whenever life gets too much. You’re my rock Garcia. I couldn’t ask for more.”

“Can I ask for more?” she asked slowly moving her hand up to his cheek than tilting her face to look at him. She sat back than edged her face closer to his. Finally he put his hand on the back of her head and brought her to his lips.

The kiss was soft at first exploratory. First it was just lips learning the softness of one another. Tenderly his tongue made it’s way past her lips and gently stroked at her sleeping tongue. She let out a gasp than letting their tongues do battle in a constant fight for the top that seemed like it would never end, he didn’t think he wanted it to.

Her hand snaked around his back and hit the gun at his back. She instantly broke the kiss.

“Is that a gun?” Garcia asked a raised brow and a smirk.

He pulled the gun from his pack and put it on the table before saying, “Can’t be too careful.”

“Am I so dangerous?” she asked growling softly.

“The worst kind,” he said going up and nibbling at her neck, “Sexy dangerous.”

That had her giggling, but the kissing of her neck had her moaning. Morgan worked his tongue over her ear and than down her neck softly finding the spots that gained gasps from her.

His hands ran up and down her back. She had so many curves he didn’t think he’d ever be able to explore them all. She felt so different than the girls that normally filled his bed, but it was anything but a bad thing or purely physical. She was a woman who he spent time with. He knew what to buy her for Christmas, when her birthday was and the name of her first pet. There was no need for secrets between them, she knew everything he’d tried to keep hidden from every other woman he’d slept with. He had no choice but to be open with her. He just hoped she could be open with him too.

His hand searched across her back until he found her bra strap. His skilled fingers had the clasp undone in no time.

Garcia pulled back from the kiss and her mouth was open in a wide ‘oh’.

“And just what makes you think we’re going any further tonight young man,” she demanded sounding annoyed.

Derek stared at her wide eyed. His mouth flopped open twice but nothing came out. He’d thought this was what they had both wanted; had he been wrong?

She sniggered at him and he could have killed her.

“Just joking,“ she said still grinning. Her face suddenly got serious and she licked her lips as if thinking about something important.

She sat back and stripped off her shirt, the unhooked bra coming with it and tossed them to the floor. The sight took his breath away; the amount of courage that took as not lost on him. Her cleavage went on forever and her nipples were hard as rocks in the cold room. She crossed her arms under her chest and used them to push them together sinfully. It was hard to connect the body with the face, with the person, but he forced himself too. This was Garcia, this was an alluring Garcia that was giving him a hard on.

“Pamela Anderson has nothing on you,” he said going in for a kiss, but she spoke before he could.

“I know. I’ve got like hundred pounds on her,” she stated pessimistically.

“Don’t do that baby girl,” he said running his hands through her hair, taking out the braid she’d push in it as he went, “Don’t talk bad about yourself. I hate that. Your beautiful, my sweet thing, so beautiful.” He got her hair undone and than started running his fingers through the golden locks.

“Really?” she asked her voice shaking.

“Yeah,” he said and decided there was better things she could do with her mouth. He kissed her again, already longing for the taste. She groaned into it this time and opened herself up more to it. She pushed her body up against his while her hands moved under the back of his shirt. Morgan echoed her groan of pleasure with one of his own.

His hand went up cupping her breast softly in his hand. They were so big they barely fit in his hand. He started massaging the soft flesh, his thumb teasing the nipple. Garcia let out an excited moan and arched her back towards his hand. Her own hands were tracing patterns on his back and making his back shiver from the attention. He’d never imagined his back could be used as such a sexual organ. It was like everywhere she touched she was bringing his skin to life.

He pushed her back against the arm of the couch and paused. He pulled up and away from her slowly. Worry was etched on her features and he smiled down at her trying to calm them.

“I don’t want our first time to be on a couch. You okay with moving somewhere more comfortable?” he asked gently leaning down and kissing at her neck.

She let out a gasp than nodded before saying, “Yes…good idea….very good…”

He took his hand than got up tugging her after him. She came more than willingly into his bedroom. He pushed her tenderly down to the bed and got on top of her. He went back to her lips, kissing her like she was the source of everything good in his life. He couldn’t get enough of those soft lips pressed to his and the little sounds she always made. She was a lot more vocal than he’d imagined and he wasn’t even doing anything that intense yet. God how much would she scream when he went down on her?

She pulled back though and it was his turn to look worried.

“I think you’re over dressed,” she whispered.

“Oh? How would you like me to fix that my goddess?” he asked with a chuckle.

She pushed her hand into his shirt and pulled it up. He put his hands over his head and let the shirt slide over his head and off of his arms. She made him sit back and than she took a moment just staring at him. He found himself blushing under the powerful gaze but it didn’t matter. He couldn’t wait to be pushed against the other, body heat meting body heat.

Her quick fingers were on his pants in no time undoing them. She had the zipper down and the button undone in no time. His obvious erection sprang forth from his pants proudly, still contained in his boxers. Her hand ghosted over the hardened member but she didn’t touch him. He whimpered in disappointment. She started tugging at his pants trying to get them off.

He stood up and toed of his shoes and his socks before letting his pants slide down his legs and easily stepping out of them. His fingers were under the waistband of his boxers when she grabbed his hands. She shook her head and than moved her hand over the cloth softly. She found the slit and her hand snaked inside. She gripped him lightly, stroking him softly as if testing the waters. Pleasure shot through his system making him moan. The view alone almost did him in.

She took her hand out than pulled his boxers down completely. They landed in a heap on the floor, but he didn’t bother moving. Garcia was examining him with her eyes and than one hand slowly came up. She gently touched him as if scared he’d float away. She gripped his shaft in her hands and slowly started to move up and down again. Her fingers slid over him like magic, lighting fires inside of him.

This was more exciting for some reason than anything he’d done in a long time. Maybe it had something to do with the fact it was Garcia. Garcia’s hand, Garcia’s eyes, Garcia’s hand inside of her skirt touching herself in rhythm to the strokes she was giving him. The sight was so much for him and he closed his eyes. He wasn’t a teenager anymore, he shouldn’t have this much trouble keeping in control around a girl.

He felt something wet and warm around his dick. His eyes shot open and he looked down at her. Penelope had taken it upon herself to start sucking him off. Her lips were holding him tightly and she was sucking in just right. Her never ideal tongue was licking at his tip whenever it was at the very edge of her mouth. She took about half of him into her mouth, but used her hand to stroke the rest of him. He put his hand on her shoulder to keep himself from falling over.

There was a flood of emotion, of pleasure rushing through his body. He groaned helplessly. It was too good, way too good.

He shoved at her shoulder forcing her away. He hoped he hadn’t been to rough. When his eyes met hers there was nothing but mild curiosity and understanding shining in them.

She crawled to the other side of the bed and opened the bedside drawer. He raised a brow wondering whose house this was after all. She pulled out a condom and gave him a crafty grin. It was nice to be able to communicate without having to talk to someone. Garcia knew his tells, his preferences and the fact he was the type of guy to keep condoms in his bedside table. He’d never realized how important that could be in a bed partner.

She rested her head on his pillows and spread her hair out over them gracefully. She pulled her skirt down, shimmering her hips and tugging down her panties at the same time. She slid both gracefully down her legs before opening them slightly. She used the condom and her hand to cover herself.

He chuckled softly and he got on the bed on all fours. He went headfirst for the condom. He took it in his teeth and than grabbed it from his mouth with his hand. His tongue than dove inside of her making her scream out in surprise. She withered under him as his tongue licked from her clit to the center of her core in one penetrating stroke. He than ran a hand up and plunged a finger deep inside of her. She squirmed and whimpered at the sudden movement, but if the blissful look was anything to go by she didn’t mind it one bit. He kept stroking his single digit in and out until the wiggling of her hips reached a feverous pitch. Finally he added a second and replaced his tongue to her clit. It only took a few moments of this double stimulation for her to start moaning so loud it was almost screaming.

“Oh god…Morgan….Morgan…Your gonna make me…” she said between pants that had her breasts jiggling.

He quickened his fingers and sucked harder against her clit. He felt her clench around his finger and knew she was enjoying every second of it. He kept going until she pushed him away.

“Too much,” she panted to him.

He sat back on his knees and started unwrapping the condom.

“Good, it’ll give me time to get this damn thing on,” he said pinching the tip of it before staring to unroll it onto himself.

“And here I thought you’d be an expert by now,” she teased. He couldn’t help but be surprised. She was teasing him while being spread eagle on his bed still soaked from sweat due to an orgasm. The whole imagine had him laughing. He’d always hoped that was how Garcia was in bed and now he finally had the pleasure knowing.

“I am, you’ve just got my hands shaking,” he retorted surprised he could think up anything in this state. His ignored cock was throbbing and demanding its own pleasure.

“Oh I know I do baby,” she said running her hand down and gently stroking her thighs, “But you had other parts of me shaking just moments ago. Think you can do it again?”

“Your so selfish sexy. Already asking for another when I haven’t had my first,” he teased as he got the last of the condom unrolled and was checking it for any breaks.

“What can I say, I’m a needy girl,” she said chuckling at him and pushing her back up as her lips curled into a smirk, “So very needy.”

His eyes went wide at the tone of her voice and the image of her body offered to him. It could possibly have been the single most arousing experience of his life. He pinned her down to the bed and started kissing her tempting lips. He used one hand to guide him and the other to keep him upright. He paused outside the entrance.

He had a moment of clarity, of understanding what he was doing. He was about to have sex with Garcia, quirky, smart, beautiful, understanding Garcia. He couldn’t just take her, this couldn’t just be sex. It had to be love making, coupling, romanticized sex better than any they both had had. Morgan was apathetic to most things, but being in love wasn’t one of them.

He pushed inside of her carefully. She was so warm, so slick. He closed his eyes and reminded himself he wasn’t a virgin over, although this felt like it. His heart was racing in a way he’d never felt before and he opened his eyes to look down at his partner.

Garcia was staring at him in disbelief. Her wide eyes and slack jaw told him she’d never been able to imagine being here and now that she was she didn’t know what to make of it. She licked her lips nervously and kept her eyes to the side. He put his hand to her face and forced her to face him. He gave a wide smile as he realized why his heart was beating so fast.

“I love you Garcia,” he said barely remembering that he was still buried to the hilt inside of her.

“I-I-I love you too…” she stuttered out and ran her hands over his head a few times, “But if you don’t start moving…I’ll wipe out your savings account.”

He laughed. This all felt so homey to comfortable. It felt good, it felt freeing, it felt like he was on fire. His body suddenly reminded him just what he was doing and just how long it’d been waiting.

His hips started to move without his say so and every motion had him gasping. He could feel sweat starting to form on his back as his thrusts gained speed. Garcia was moaning under him wildly and she put her arms around his neck. He could feel her nails digging into his skin and smirked. He’d be the one wearing turtle necks to works from now on.

He put his arms around her and pulled her up. He got her into his lap and right away she started moving up and down. His own hips lifted and met hers as they came crashing down. She whimpered with desire for a release and his own body was aching from the lack of it. For once he was actually glad for the condom making the friction a bit less or he’d had blown it long ago.

He gently sucked on his fingers before putting them down between them. He started rubbing her clit with his finger and two strokes later she was calling out his name. He wasn’t sure who came first, or harder. It felt like they were merging into one mass of lust and release. He leaned his head into her neck and through the maze of bliss he smelt her hair wanting to add something that reminded him of her into the mix.

She moved away first, still panting with her hands shaking slightly. She got off of his lap and fell back into the pillows exhausted. He fallowed her closely, dragging the blankets behind him. He covered them up than cuddle into his warm Garcia. His arms held her close as he struggled for something to say. He didn’t need to try and think for long, it was his girl who spoke first.

“I meant it,” she said shyly, “I do love you so much. I‘d understand if you know this can only be tonight…”

“Tonight? I couldn’t live with that. I don’t think any other woman could feel as complete as you do.”

“That was so cheesy,” Garcia came back with surprising him. Still he laughed at her comment knowing she meant it good heartedly. She nuzzles her nose along side of his in a sweet little Eskimo kiss. She had a smile that just won’t end on her lips and light shining in her eyes. They closed slowly and he knew he didn’t want to be anywhere but right there when they opened this morning.

Totally new to the CM fandom realm... concrit/feedback is a wonderful thing. *wink*

Finding Solace

He stood with his eyes falling shut, back pressed against the door, and sighed. Home. Finally. The drive, three tense hours of silent accusations, had bordered close to too much after the case.

"Solace, huh?"

Derek nodded, his lips turning upwards just a fraction. "God given," he added, eyes still closed, simply enjoying the sound of her voice. "Don't forget that part."

"How could I?" And then Penelope crossed the room and encircled him in her arms, burying her face against his chest. "I'm still mad at you."

"I know," he sighed. "But at least you're talking to me again."

Take place during episode 4.01; Garcia tells Morgan why she's mad at him.

(Less Than a Hero)
Morgan said as he strode into Garcia’s office. She pushed her chair back and swiveled it away from her computers so she was face to face with him.

“And who told you I was going on vacation?” she asked, her immaculate red lips curling upwards.

“Well, we all got vacation time off so either you're going somewhere or you're not. Based on the fact you’ve been working additional hours to get all your stuff done, I've decided you'll likely be distancing yourself from it and unable to do anything extra. You’ve taken down three of your favorite stuffed animals, probably to take with you on the trip. On top of all that, JJ was complaining that you wouldn't tell her where you're going,” he said smugly. The rant was worth it from the look of indignation that was on her face, only to be quickly replaced by a cunning grin.

“So you think I’ll be telling you…” she said lengthen the ‘you’ and rolling her eyes before finishing, “Why?”

Derek was a little taken aback by that. She didn’t want to tell him? What, was she going to a high school reunion or something? Now he had to figure it out.

“Because,” he said, leaning in and letting his fingers tips brush her cheek, “you can’t resist me.”

She pulled her head away and shook her head at him while making a ‘tsk tsk’ sound. “The sexy card is not going to help you in this hand of poker. I ain’t bluffin’,” she said, crossing her arms and shaking her head at him.

“Come on, baby girl, I thought we didn’t have any secrets,” Morgan said and gave her his best pouting face.

“We don’t but…” she said and looked to the side.

Morgan pounced at the obvious sign of weakness. He got down on bended knee beside the chair and took her hand. He kissed it gently, then stared right into her eyes.

“Then let’s not start keeping secrets now,” he implored her.

She opened her mouth, then stopped. Her eyes flew back and forth as if thinking over her options. Her cheeks flushed red. Her jaw went slack and her eyes were staring off at something he couldn’t see. Worry made his blood run cold. What could she be thinking of that made her look so gloomy? She shook her head and pulled her hand away.

“I can’t tell you. You’ll just make fun of me,” she said shaking her head at him.

“I would never,” he said his features going soft. Did she really think he would make fun of something she was going to do? What could she possibly be doing that would make him tease her? His curiosity only got worse at the thought.

“Still, I just don’t want to and you're going to have to respect that,” she insisted, her spirits lifted slightly.

“I’ll see about that,” he said then stood up. He went to the back of her chair and grabbed it in both hands. He spun it and her around in a circle. She let out a surprised gasp and gripped onto the arms of the chair. He knew she wasn‘t truly scared because she’d picked up her legs so they wouldn’t slow the chair down. He pushed it again, making her nothing more than a screaming blur.

“Where are you going on vacation?!” Morgan demanded.

“I’ll never tell you!” Garcia screamed out dramatically.

“Tell me or I’ll go faster!” Morgan threatened.

“Never!” Garcia yelled and then started giggling.

Morgan gave the chair one more good push before the door opened and Reid walked in. He stared at the twosome with a bewildered look. Morgan reached out and carefully slowed down then stopped the chair. Garcia’s hair was a mess but she was trying to regain her composure. She had to be dizzy. Derek wouldn’t have been surprised if she’d fallen if she’d tried to get up.

“What’s going on guys?” Reid asked looking between the two awkwardly.

“Nothing,” Morgan said and shrugged. What had Reid so anxious? It wasn’t like they had been doing anything bad. Maybe a little playful but not in the naughty way. Unless you had a fetish for being dizzy.

“Well, then could I talk to Garcia…” Reid’s cheeks went red before he could answer, “alone?”

“Sure, suga, Morgan was just leaving,” she said. She stood up, her feet still unsure, but she did her best to try to shove him from the room.

Morgan was led out of the room before he had time to really think about what was going on. The door was shut in his face before he could question either of them. The whole thing didn’t sit right with him. There couldn’t possibly be anything Garcia could say in front of Reid that she couldn’t say in front of him, right?

He started down the hall only to be assaulted by questions from the blonde that had sent him in.

“So? Did she tell you where she was going?” JJ asked anxiously.

Morgan shook his head.

“She’s been really secretive about this. My guess is she’s going on a hot date with some guy and she doesn’t want us to know. I mean after what happened with Battle then her recent break up with Lynch she knew we’d all be worried,” Emily chimed in.

“She’s in there talking to Reid right now,” Morgan said motioning with his thumb behind him.

Both of the girls broke into grins and started to giggle. He felt like he’d missed the train until the gears in his head started turning.

“No way. You don’t think…” Morgan said going over to his desk and sitting down. He leaned back on his chair and put his feet up on his desk.

“It’s a possibility,” JJ admitted.

“But…they don’t…I just can’t see Garcia with him. He’s not her type and a little young for her, don’t you think?” he asked. His fingers were unconsciously tapping on the desk as he thought the idea over.

“How can you say he’s not her type? He’s a geek, extremely smart, socially awkward. Sound like anyone else she’s gone out with?” Emily teased, her voice too playful to mix well with his serious thoughts on the subject.

“But I mean…they never show if they are. They never flirt or give each other longing glances. There's no outward sign of attraction between them,” Morgan said picking up a pencil and starting to chew on it.

“Not all of us flirt like you do, Morgan,” JJ said picking up a few folders from Emily’s desk and sorting them in her arms.

“Yeah, some of us know what the word 'discreet' means,” Emily said chuckling at him.

“You girls are just jealous because you want a piece of the action,” Morgan said motioning to himself with both hands while giving a smug grin.

“Yeah, we’re the jealous ones,” JJ said before she gracefully exited the room.

Morgan turned to Prentiss wondering what JJ had meant by that but the other woman wasn’t saying anything. Instead, she was smiling widely and pretending to be very interested in doing some of her own work.

He shifted back in his chair and put his hands behind his head. While the girls might have gone off to do other things, think of other things, Morgan was stuck on the subject of this mystery vacation.

Where could she possible be off to that was so embarrassing? Garcia had never held anything back from him and he found himself almost hurt by it. His curiosity had him thinking up every possible location you could fly to and get into trouble. Was she going to go to Vegas? Would that constitute such secrecy? Maybe she was going to go see her family. He had no knowledge of them and it might be a sore topic for her. Maybe she was going to rehab? Did they have a rehab for computer addicts? He knew he was only distracting himself from the question that had his brain swirling

Was she really going out with Reid?

He started going over every interaction he’d seen between the twosome in the last month. At the last briefing, she’d sat next to Reid instead of him. He hadn’t thought anything of it, but now it was the spotlight of his internal investigation. She’d started calling Reid with results a couple of weeks ago, but it was on even par with how often she called Morgan. He’d first noticed her calling Reid nicknames a few weeks ago. It started with 'Boy Genius' but lately it’d worked up to more intimate names that she normally saved for Morgan. In fact, when he’d left the room she’d called him ‘suga’.

Morgan found his eyes drifting up towards Garcia’s office. What were they doing in there right now? The door was closed, so they could be doing anything. The image of them making out flashed through his mind and he winced. It was just so wrong! Garcia had such a spirit and was untamed where Reid was a wallflower who quoted because he couldn’t think up anything original.

He was tired of coming up with theories. He wanted some cold, hard facts. He sat up and pulled his chair over to his computer, turning on the monitor and logging in. Then Morgan opened an internet browser window.

Garcia wasn’t the only one with computer skills--although they were skills she’d taught him. He’d had his computer hacked into and a bunch of viruses left for him to deal with. She’d shown him how to get around things and how to find and destroy viruses and send some of his own. She’d gotten over-excited showing him some naughty things, like how to hack into credit card accounts to look at the spending history.

He was using that skill right now to find his way into Garcia’s credit card history. Before he hacked into her credit card account, he turned on a little program that Garcia said would scramble his IP address. Once he was inside her account, he looked around anxiously. No one was really around besides Emily who had put in ear phones by this time.

“Time to find out what you're hiding,” Morgan said as he scrolled down the list of charges and credits. In the fifth column was the answer. She’d made a payment for a hotel room in Los Angeles. He raised a brow, though, since he didn’t know the last time you could get a hotel room at a upscale place for one hundred bucks solid. That sounded like half the payment right there. You only paid for half the payment when you were sharing.

He went to the website for the hotel and did his best to get inside their records but that was out of his league. He’d only been shown how to do credit cards and virus stuff. He hit the desk with the palm of his hand. Emily was awoken from her trance and stared at him. She pulled out an earpiece out. “What’s wrong?” she asked, looking him over.

Morgan forced himself to shake his head and try to look calm.

“Yeah, because I hit the desk whenever nothing’s wrong,“ Emily said, rolling her eyes. “Talk to me Derek.”

“It’s okay. My computer's just freezing up,” he lied. Emily gave him a suspicious eye but seemed to give in.

“Why don’t you go ask your computer genius for help…oh right, she’s busy,” she said, unintentionally rubbing salt into his wound.

Morgan decided it was a good idea not to respond to that, but instead go back to his computer work. He was a profiler, so figuring out where his best friend was going on vacation shouldn’t be that hard. So far he knew that she was paying for half a hotel rate which meant someone else was paying for the other half. That someone was likely more than a platonic friend due to the obvious bedroom sharing. He wanted to know whether she was dating Reid, so if he looked into Reid’s records he could find out if the younger man was footing half the bill.

He cracked his fingers once before starting to type again. He broke into Reid’s credit card account and looked through his purchases. There wasn’t a mention of a hotel or anything else. Morgan felt relief wash over him. So maybe Garcia was going out with one of Reid’s friends. That made sense.

Derek’s mind couldn’t believe that it was that easy. He clicked CTRL+F and used the find function to search for the exact amount the hotel should be costing him. To his disbelief, he got a hit. It was listed under a cash advance instead of a credit transaction.

“Shit,” he said through gritted teeth.

He put his fingers to his mouth and started chewing on his pencil. So that meant they were definitely going on vacation together. Not only that but they would be sharing a bedroom. Images of Reid kissing Garcia as he pushed her back onto their double bed made his stomach turn. What in the world did she see in Reid that she didn’t see in--

His thoughts were interrupted as the couple came down the stairs. They both had huge smiles on their lips and were giggling about something only they knew about. Were they laughing at him, for not knowing? Were they joking about the wonderful lover's getaway they were about to share? They were standing too close together, so close their hands were hitting and neither seemed to mind. As they walked past Morgan’s desk he turned the chair and looked at them sharply.

“Still not going to tell me where you’re going, sweet thing?” he asked, doing his utmost to keep his irritation in check.

“No way in hell, stud muffin. Have a great vacation yourself, though. See you when I come back,” she said, blowing him a kiss as she strode out of the BAU headquarters.

He stared angrily after both of them. It didn’t help that Reid was smiling at her while she was talking to him. God, he should have put a wire on her while he was spinning her around in her chair. Not that he had them readily on him, but at least then he’d get to know why Reid was laughing like a lunatic at whatever his brilliant Garcia had said.

They wandered out of sight lost in each other’s eyes and Morgan almost bit off his finger. Had he been alone he might let the savage growl in his chest be heard. With a deep but less than calming breath he turned to his desk once more.

Why in the world was he so upset? This was Garcia. She was a big girl and could take care of herself. It wasn’t like he was her boyfriend. She could go out with whomever she wanted too. Even if it was a skinny twig that couldn’t order coffee without stumbling over his own tongue. That shouldn’t upset him.

It had to be the fact they hadn’t told him. He was Garcia’s best friend and a very good friend to Reid. Surely if his friends were playing 'Hide the Mini-Corn Dog' they would have told him. More likely he would have noticed. How could this have been happening right under his nose?

Maybe he was over-thinking this. Perhaps they were going out with different people. Reid’s credit card account hadn’t said which hotel he was staying at. It was very possible they were both shacking up with different people at similarly priced love nests. Great, another question he couldn’t find an answer to unless he followed them.

Follow them? He could do that. He wasn’t doing anything for his vacation. The extra cash to fly out to LA would be worth putting his mind at ease, wouldn’t it? While he was there, he could hit up a dance club or maybe call back that girl he’d met on their last case out there. So it wasn’t just about them. He had his own reasons for going out there too. He had every right to go to LA if he wanted to and get his freak on.

His fingers were dialing a travel agent before his brain could catch up.

*

The plane ride was longer than he’d remembered. He’d taken a Red Eye which meant it was cheaper than a normal flight and he could sleep the whole way. It’d been a rougher ride than the BAU jet because of the small seats and screaming kids in the backs that were louder than his headphones could block out. He’d gotten very little sleep and ended up thinking the whole time.

He landed at ten AM and had gone straight to the car rental counter. He’d found the hotel that Garcia was booked at before noon and started his stake out; check in was at one and he wasn’t about to miss them.

Now, he was stalking out a wide entranceway surrounded by a bunch of tourists. The hotel was supposed to look expensive without being so. The tiled floors were black and white and there were pillars going up to the ceiling, which had a skylight. Greek statues and plastic plants outlined the walls, trying desperately to bring some class to the place. There were replicas of famous paintings on the walls that contrasted horribly with the maroon-swirled wallpaper.

Morgan had placed himself at a small glass table facing the door. He was hidden from the door by a large fake palm tree but could still see around the leaves. He had on his favorite Ray Ban sunglasses which went from a darker red to a lighter red at the bottom. They were easy to see through in the sunlit room. He had a book in hand and his bag at the side. He hadn’t actually been able to get a room at the hotel, though, which might be a problem, but one he’d deal with later. For now, he was watching for Garcia. She’d be hard to miss, after all; his baby girl always was.

They arrived over an hour later than he’d expected them to. His legs were stiff, even though he’d gotten up to walk around a few times and he was wondering if he’d ever get the feeling back in his behind.

He saw Garcia first. She had on a bright red dress that hugged her curves and matched her red eye makeup and hair accessories. She even had on red silk gloves that went up over her elbows and red pumps. Morgan found himself licking his lips and didn’t have time to stop and wonder what that was about.

He saw Reid next. He was standing awkwardly beside the voluminous beauty trying not to look at her or the other men looking at her. He wasn’t wearing anything special. A sweater vest and tan pants: he looked like he might on any day at work.

Their arms were hooked together as they walked into the hotel and both of them were smiling. His fingers tightened around the spine of his book and he thought he heard something inside it snap. They made their way up to the counter and he craned his neck to watch the interaction. Their talk with the clerk was short and he caught the glimpse of them taking only one key before going towards the elevators.

His jaw was tense and his breathing had quickened. There was no way this was happening. Garcia and Reid had not just taken a single room key up to a single room that they would be sharing. Reid wasn’t her type. Garcia wasn’t his type. She was so much older than he was. He was far too serious for her tastes. No, this could not be happening.

He turned his head back to the book he was holding. This had to be a mistake. He’d seen it, but maybe he hadn’t understood. They could be doing something for work. Yeah, they were on a case. They weren’t dating. They were undercover at this hotel and hadn’t told anyone. That was so likely, wasn’t it? Morgan took a deep breath, wondering why he was trying to fool himself.

He took his bag and went to his chair. He sat there, unable to really move. Questions flew through his mind too fast to be dealt with. He found himself staring at the crossing sign on the stop light just outside the hotel, getting lost in its rhythm.

He had no idea how long he sat there, but he finally decided to move when the shades of the world were darkening. The sun was going down, and he told himself he’d dozed off. He hadn’t sat outside of a hotel imagining Garcia and Reid inside having kinky time for hours.

He decided it would be easier to get a hotel than a flight out of LAX at this hour. He picked up his phone and dialed the next local hotel looking for a room. To his surprise, the place was full. He tried another and got the same response. Three more later and Morgan was picking up a pattern. How could so many hotels be full on the same night? That had to be why Reid and Garcia were sharing a room.

A smile spread on his face and he figured that was it. Why so many people wanted to be in LA this evening he wasn’t sure, but he didn’t really care. The whole country could be packing this city for a pie-eating contest and he wouldn’t give a damn. They had a reason for being here that had nothing to do with sleeping together. He could now go home and sleep soundly in the knowledge that there was nothing going on between his two co-workers.

He called the airport and was more than a little disappointed when he found out that there wasn’t a seat to be found on a flight out to Virginia or Chicago until tomorrow morning. No bother, he’d just sleep in his car. It wasn’t any better or worse than the jet. God, the things you go through to find out your friends aren’t sleeping together.

He decided he had one more call to make. He hit five on his speed dial, Garcia’s number. The phone rang for what seemed like forever before she picked up, sounding winded.

“Yeah, hot stuff, what do you want?” she asked him playfully.

“Wondering where you were, mama,” he said, hoping she’d take the bait.

“I’m not that easy, Derek, you should know that,” she taunted.

“I know you're not or I’d have had you a long time ago, baby cakes,” he teased.

“I’m all yours for the asking, my handsome hunk. So is there anything I can do for you or were you just calling to see if you could hassle me into telling you where I am?” she asked too smart for her own damn good.

“Just wanted to make sure you were feeling okay,” he told her and he heard her give a little sigh. There was another sound behind her, like a door being opened, in the distance there was the sound of a shower running.

“You seen my pants?” came the last voice he’d ever want to hear ask Garcia that.

“In the--” she started than stopped, “Morgan I gotta go. Got something to deal with.”

“You go girl! Have fun and be safe. Wouldn’t want any little geniuses running around,” he said dropping the hint that he knew but not telling her. He hung up right after so she couldn’t ask any questions.

Great, his explanation of what was going on had been thrown out the window. God, Reid must have been in a towel, or boxers, or God forbid, nothing at all! He’d been comfortable with being some state of undress in front of Garcia and that suggested something more than a friendly sharing of a room was going on between them.

He leaned the car seat back and put on his headphones. Here he was sleeping in his car in the middle of LA, and Reid was up there cuddling to Garcia’s cleavage. It had to be a hell of a lot softer than the headrest he was trying to sleep on.

With some good tunes and skilled coping techniques he was able to find sleep late into the night.

*

Morgan woke up the next morning to the sound of something pounding on the glass of his rental car window. The first thing his eyes saw were blazing sunlight and an policeman’s pasty hand hitting his window. He prayed it wouldn’t break as he sat up, glad he didn’t have hair or it would have been an awkward mess. His eyes did tell of a long night spent in a car, with the dark rings under them. He opened his window and looked at the police officer who had taken it upon himself to be his wake-up call.

“Yeah,” he said rubbing the sleep out of his eye.

“May I ask what you're doing here, sir?” the officer said, less than happy with Morgan’s attitude. Being hated by the police was nothing new for Morgan so he didn’t let himself sweat it.

“Stakeout,” he said automatically. He reached into his beg and prayed he’d packed his badge. Luckily for him, habit had him pushing it in with his other things before leaving. He pulled out his badge and showed it to the other man. The police officer took it and looked it over slowly. Morgan had a feeling he’d never seen an FBI badge before in his life.

“I see. Anything we can do to help?” the other man asked giving Morgan back his badge. Moran shook his head.

“No. I’ve got it covered. Now if you could please be on your way, I’m trying to keep a low profile.”

“Of course,” the other man said, “I’m just glad you're not another one of the freaks wandering the city.”

Morgan nodded and watched the officer drive off. “Jerk,” he muttered to himself as he pulled himself into the back. He took his bag with him and quickly changed in the back of the car. He needed a shower but he was sure he could wait until he got home.

As he was putting his shirt back on he saw a storm trooper pass his car window. It didn’t faze him until it clicked in his mind. He did a double take to make sure he’d seen what he’d seen. He stared open-mouthed at the white figure disappearing from view.

“What the hell?” he asked himself and slowly got out of the car. He followed the oddly dressed man to the mouth of the freak show. There were dozens, no hundreds, of nerds dressed up as characters from various TV shows. A couple he knew, but most he didn’t. There was an imposing guy dressed as Wolverine to his left and a hilariously chubby Spiderman to his right. What in the world?

A flash of light caught his eye and he turned to see what it was. There was a woman standing in front of an oddly dressed twosome taking their picture. He recognized the pair. The woman was dressed up as Princess Leia from Star Wars although she was a little big for the role. She’d picked the white outfit with the silly buns on the side of her head. It wasn’t as bad as the overweight Spiderman, but something about the look made him chuckle. The man beside her was dressed as Indiana Jones. He had on the signature fedora along with a pair of brown pants, a brown leather jacket and a white shirt that was slightly open showing off his pale chest. He was far too scrawny and bashful for the role but was keeping a smile on his face.

That smile, he knew that smile. He stared closer at the face and recognition hit him. It was Reid. He found himself laughing aloud and after a quick look at the Leia he realized it was Garcia. He put a hand to his mouth to muffle the sound.

No wonder she didn’t want to tell him where they were going. A quick look up at the sign by the door and he realized it read ‘Comic-Con’. That’s why all the hotels were booked and they had had to share a room. They wanted a hotel close to the convention center and there had only been one room left. It all made sense and Morgan felt bad for following them. He should have trusted his baby girl not to be having an affair with Reid without telling him. He was about to walk off when the scene before him changed.

Reid, with the crowd urging him, leaned in and kissed Garcia. It looked easy, perhaps even a practiced kiss that left neither blushing nor seeming awkward. The image was burned into Morgan’s mind, and he knew he couldn’t deny it anymore. They were going out together.

They broke away from the normal dressed people taking pictures and started towards the entrance. Morgan knew he should go home and try to forget this had ever happened, but he was frozen in place. As they walked towards the door, Garcia reached down and grabbed Reid’s ass as the camera flashed behind them like they were celebrities.

Go home, he told himself, take a shower and hit the town. You do not need to be here right now.

It was too bad he wasn’t listening to his own good advice. Instead he was diving through the crowds following the pair. There was a line to get in and Derek was a dozen people behind them but they were hard to miss. Their eyes never left one another and people around kept commenting on what an odd pair they were.

They were inside and disappeared into the crowd of oddities. Morgan was too stunned to think and before he knew it, he was at the door. Another storm trooper asked whether he had a Comic-Con badge, and of course, he said no. The man told him it’d be forty dollars for a one-day pass and sixty for a two-day pass. He found himself paying the forty and going inside as he clipped the badge with some weird character on it to his jacket.

The place was densely packed with an odd array of people. He’d never seen so many people in costume in his life. How could you like a character enough to make a fool of yourself and go out dressed up as one? He guessed it just wasn’t his lifestyle.

He found Garcia and Reid again in something called the Artist Alley. The fact she had on a spotless white dressed help her to be easy to find. He watched them from a distance like he would an UNSUB. They were holding hands and standing close together as they critiqued artwork and bought a few pieces. It was hard to keep out of sight amongst the crowd. He felt like a fish out of water. He hadn’t felt this awkward in a long time. He pressed on, not wanting to miss a moment of their public display. Neither of them was looking for him and with so many other eyes on them, why should his pair stick out? As long as he stayed out of sight, it was easy to follow the pair through the con.

A few things besides his friends caught his eyes. The big displays of comics all over the place. He didn’t know comics had so many different variations or art styles. He’d only really seen the old look of comic books, that grainy, techno color stuff. There was a lot of art that was actually really good.

One time, when Garcia had looked over as if she’d seen him, he put a book in front of his face and ended up reading the back. It was an interesting idea and one he found himself interested in. He looked at the title, ‘Sandman’, and smirked. He actually opened up the thick book and found it had comics inside the leather binding. The art was odd, but captivating in its oddness.

He’d used to read comics as a kid but they had been so silly and full of superheroes. This one seemed to be a lot deeper than that. He found himself dropping the c note that the book cost and walking off with it in a blue bag, his problems forgotten for a moment. He walked around looking instead of worrying for a little while. This place sure did know how to draw you in, the bright colors, the girls in spandex and the excitement that radiated off of everyone. It was a whole different world, but it wasn’t hard to see why someone would want to get lost in it.

Morgan was looking over an action figure of one of the ‘Sandman’ characters when Garcia caught his eye. She was hanging all over Reid as they had more pictures taken. She had no qualms about kissing him, or even feeling him up. Reid stood almost stiffly beside her as if trying not to pay attention to her. He looked bizarre in a shirt that was trying to show off his chest muscles when he didn’t have any. Morgan would look better in that outfit, but doubted he’d make a good Indie. He’d look better with Garcia, though, that he was sure of.

God, if he was over there instead of Reid, he’d be kissing up and down her neck. He’d run his hands over those hips and pull her to him. He’d make sure that everyone knew she was his and no one else’s.

Morgan caught himself startled by the thought. Sure he’d been friends with Garcia for what seemed like a lifetime, but he’d never considered her like that. Well, truthfully, he had once or twice. During a tight hug where she was pressed against him. When she’d been cuddling next to him while they watched a movie. He’d thought about it, but he wasn’t that type of a guy. He didn’t seriously date, and with Garcia it’d be serious.

It would have been if she wasn’t already with Reid.

Realizations and hurt passed through his body making him overheat and need to get out of there. He found his way to the entrance hall, which was almost empty by this time. There was a tiny, vacant bench near yet another damn fake palm and he sat there. He put his head in his hands wondering when he had fallen so far. He was Derek, a bit of a player but not a dog. He didn’t take romance seriously, he had fun and flings. He was Morgan, an FBI agent with a hard job who didn’t have time or energy to have a girlfriend. He was a man of a million excuses.

He clunked his head back on the cement wall and ignored the light pain in his head. He let out a breath and stared at the ceiling. There was a banner for the convention above him with a picture of Leia on it. He looked away and let out a small, sad chuckle. Well, there were three movies he could never watch again. He ran his hands over his face and let out a groan from the back of his throat. He’d taken a red eye, slept in a car and for what? To find out Garcia and Reid were happy together and make himself miserable about it. At least when it’d been Kevin he hadn’t known the man that well, and he seemed like a dork that Garcia would get tir
