I am a second semester freshman at a small university in rural PA .I have always been interested in the arts, and one of my passions is Art History. Unfortunately, Art History is not offered as a major at my school, only as a minor. After some consideration I have decided that I want to tranfer schools. I saw that Moore offers both a Curatorial Studies program and an Art History program. I was wondering if anyone here is in the Curatorial Studies program and if they liked it. Thoughts/Opinion? How is it different from Art History? Has Moore enabled you to network yourself in the art world? I am most concerned with the curriculum and job opportunities.
If you respond to this I am eternally appreciative!

I'm interested in the 2D fine arts program. Can anyone tell me how rigorous it is? Actually, feedback about what you consider to be the strongest major the school offers would be appreciated also! I'm also curious to the experiences associated with attending an all-girl school.
Hey, ladies!

Right now, I am a sophomore at Bryn Mawr College (about 20 minutes from Philly) and I am interested in transferring. Bryn Mawr is a really good school, but, after careful consideration, I am no longer interested in the programs they offer or the atmosphere here -- they offer no art classes or teaching certification in art, and now I cannot imagine doing anything else besides that. Anyway, in high school I seriously considered going to art school, but my parents weren't completely supportive of that, so I now find myself now really wanting to go to art school for art education and possibly 2d arts. I have a lot of my older artwork from high school (5 yrs worth), as well as plenty of paintings that I have been doing whenever I'm not in class. I do have a fair amount of experience with art, although I have not been able to express it through classes where I am at now. Bryn Mawr is a liberal-arts college and I hope that some of my credits completed here could be transferred to Moore for their requirements.

I am very interested in Moore because I love Philly, and I would like any advice as to what my chances of being accepted are. Also, are there any transfer students in the same position I am, especially those who have taken no art classes in college?

Could anyone offer info concerning the dorms -- is it better/cheaper to live on campus or off?

Thanks so much! :)

Just wondering if anyone out there knows anyone or is involved in the continuing ed program. I don't know anyone in Philly and would love to know some of the good hang out places. I'm almost 24 (as of November) and am not really into the bar scene that much anymore. More off a bookstore and coffee shop girl. But someplace that is good to meet people at. Also any suggestions on grocery stores to shop at and such in the area would be lots of help! Thanks. I hope to meet some of you soon. Thanks so much!

It's actually kinda cool and i think my fellow broke artists would appreciate it.haha.

so yeah ..gimme your email please :-) and no this isn't spam, I'm also a working artist out of Philadelphia looking for the same break you are. any venue is a good venue and I would never promote something I didn't beleive in.

p.s. please tell your other art friends to do the same.
findartbuyart.com check it out
-NLove

shitty philly landlords

Hey grrrls. My friend started this bulletin on Myspace, and I thought it was an excellent idea so I decided to bring it over here. Comment with the names of d-bag landlords you've dealt with. Also, I'd advise writing down all the names you see so you never have to deal with these jerks. Here's three for starters:

1. Mark Weinerman
2. Mitch Ripken
3. Todd Joseph (just won a lawsuit against this fucker for his illegal practices)

Also, does anyone know if there is a bigger, more public version of this list that I can add to? I would really like to alert all of Philadelphia to what a slime ball my old landlord is, and I'm sure many others out there would like to as well.

Hi all!

I'm majoring in Graphic Design and currently attending a community college in NJ. I'm married and have 1 son. I'm in the middle of my first year (credit wise). I wanted to ask a few questions.

Do transfer students have a hard time getting accepted in to Moore?

Do I have to take a high credit load (i.e. 15+ credits)? I really want to go part-time. If I have to go full-time I would prefer 12-15 credits.

Are transfer students considered for scholarships? So far I have a B+ average. I'm aiming for 3.75 GPA when I graduate.

Are there commuter students? I have a family and I'm not feeling a dorm, LOL. I don't think I can afford to move to Philly either.

DH is buying me a laptop. Do anyone have the MacBook Pro? I'm interested in getting the mid-level MacBook Pro.

A portfolio question. I'm thinking about putting in 8-10 drawings and 5-6 computer art pieces. Is that O.K.? I'm in the less is more school of thought!

Thank you so much for you time!

Hey guys and gals ...
I'm currently a senior sculpting major at Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia, PA ... and I have RRMS. I do a lot of projects that have to do with MS, and I came up with a new one and I was wondering if I could get some help from you.

I want to do portraits of people who have MS. Any sex, any age, any type of MS. What I would like to do is take pictures from real MRI brain or spine scans that have lesions on them and put them in various frames with labels of each person's name on them. Just scan the image of your MRI and send with your name and permission to use the image.

If you would like to participate and help me out let me know by email to SuperElizzzabeth@yahoo.com ... when I put the piece up I will be sure to take pictures and send them to everyone who donated their pics.

Thanks so much in advance!
-Liz Long

P.S.
