Some good image hosting sites for you to use are listed here. Some sites (like photobucket) require membership, but a basic account is free, and in the long run, you're better off signing up and using their dedicated servers-- because some sites (like imageshack and tinypic) sometimes purge their accounts and delete images you've uploaded.

it kills me to see this poor community to fall into such disrepair... but then it occurred to me last night that i'm a moderator! (ya, blond moment, i know.) anyway, i'd like to make myself useful and give new life to this community again... but i can't really do it alone. so gimme a hand, would ya?

if anyone happens to have the original images used in any of deb's layouts, please post a link to them in a comment here. i'd like to rehost them on my own servers so that everyone can have access to them again. i also plan on reworking the layouts here so that they can be used in the old s1 or the new s2 styles... and then, if i feel ambitious, i may just start posting new work of my own design. KEEP IN MIND, though, that i am no deb mills. she was one of a kind.... but i do have some knowledge of html and journal design, so why not? i love this community and i want it to be active and beautiful again....

I'm sorry but I wanted to let everyone know that I'm shutting down Moonshadow Designs. There are so many new things involved in LJ and I don't have time to fix all the layouts I've made, let alone even make a single new one. There are too many changes to the layout system codes and most of the layouts here do not work. I'm getting a lot of help requests and frankly, I don't have time to help anyone out with layouts. My life is incredibly difficult with upcoming back surgery (yes again) and fighting with ins. companies and trying to work 3 jobs. So I want to apologize to all of you and thank you for being devoted members of this community. Should there come a time when I'm able to start doing layouts again, I'll reinstate Moonshadow Designs.

This community will go down in 5 days. If you want to use a layout or save some layouts, be sure to do so and give credit.

Again, thank you all of you wonderful members. I still have a private journal and perhaps one day this community will be back.

Kandi has been working hard and trying to answer all of your requests and help needs, and I really appreciate everything she's done. (btw Kandi I lost your email so I couldn't tell you in advance of this). She deserves a lot of credit for keeping this community running these past few months.

Hello again! Your suedo-mod here, just wanting to say that I've found myself in a special place where I'm wanting to make a new layout but I'm totally uninspired. Hopefully you guys can help me out though!

Yes, I thought I'd motivate myself to do something useful around here and I decided I would take a couple of requests for layouts. Please note that these layouts will be for general use from everyone in the community-- unless you specifically request a personal layout, like with custom links and your name written on it somewhere, ect.

What I need from you: (please post a comment to this entry filling out my little request form below)

~ a link to an image you'd like as a header/background/whatev
~ do you want a sidebar? if yes, which side do you want it on?
~ which side do you want your entires on?
~ what do you want your comment links to say?

Any other specifics would probably be handy, but please note that I reserve the right to take artistic liberty with these layouts. (Not that that is saying much!) But, should there be anything you don't like about them once they're finished, just let me know and I'll rework them for you.

So comment away! I'll edit this post when I can't take any more requests. ;D

Heard of a community called iconscraper? It's a community that is using LJ's "Recent Pictures Feed" to randomly grab icons, pics and small graphics posted *anywhere* on LJ (at any given time) and post them as icon posts for people to snag. AND it's hotlinking every single picture it's posting. Like 200+ pictures per post all hotlinked from various places on LJ. There are thousands of icons and even what looks to be personal pictures being hotlinked from LJ posts and posted in the iconscraper community. It's been reported to LJ by some people already, however there is strength in numbers.

TO PREVENT YOUR IMAGES BEING HOTLINKED:

TYPE: set latest_optout yes
To opt out a community you are maintainers of: set "for" insertcommunityname latest_optout yes

hi, all! this is kandi2813, your newly appointed co-mod, and i thought i'd just fill you guys in on some of the reorganization we're planning on doing here at moonshadow.

first off, we're going to be reposting some of the old layouts, due to the fact that a lot of the archived layouts' codes are a little off since lj redid its layout-setup not so terribly long ago. So if you see a flood of familiar layouts in the next couple of weeks, that's why! but in an effort to spare your friends' pages, i'll keep the posting down to just a couple of layouts a day.

secondly, deb and i really do want to see some new layouts here, but as you all know, she's still quite preoccupied. i, on the other hand, have no real talent with designing layouts from scratch because the magic of image manipulation evades me... but rest assured, new work will be posted as soon as it can be.

lastly, i'd like to mention that if any of you need help with coding on any of the layouts you've found here (like on the ones that i haven't updated yet!)... or anywhere, really, i'm willing to assist you any way i can. codes are one thing that i am halfway decent at manipulating, so if you have any questions, go ahead and post a new entry here and i'll get back to you on that!

D--you may or may not remember me, but a few months back I commissioned a wolf layout and a tiger layout. I love them so much!! I have another commission for you if you can take it. Fun thing about this is that I did most of the graphics myself, but I don't know how to code them into a usable layout (and I'm afraid to try for fear of really cabbaging up my current layout)

It's definitely gothic. DEFINITELY. *hee hee* It's for my Halloween groove that will be starting up in about 3 weeks, so I'd really like this. Please let me know! :D

I'm using Tranquility for my LJ, and have a problem. I can go back in my calendar and read entries from months ago, but not the comments with each entry, for some reason. Can anyone here (since Deb is out for a while) take a look at it and suggest what to fix in the code so I can read the *entire* entry, comments and all?

I thought I would let everyone know that there is a place you can upload nude themed pictures. Imageshack seemed to think that an artistic nude I had was a breach of TOS, so I looked for a free adult image host, just so it wouldn't happen again.

Just be prepared to see porn ads and such, plus do NOT upload pics of yourself on this, because plenty of unsavory characters can look through and copy photos, like on all adult hosts. I only use it for certain items that I don't care who sees.

I was looking through different layout communities the other day and I found a feature that I really liked. I was wondering if anyone here knows how to use them and if you healersmoon could maybe put it into some of your layouts? What I found is a link on the navigation bar at the top of the journal where there's usually "friends", "profile", "archive", and all that stuff, for communities. It seems like a really good idea to be able to separate other lj users from lj communities on your friends' pages.

Hello people who know more then me. :) I ran acoross someone's journal (I don't remember who it was - sorry) that I thought was georgous, and they were a member of this comm, so I thought I'd hop on over and poke around. I've seen some pretty awsome journals from some of the members here, and I'm in awe. lol The thing is, I'm relatively profecient in both graphic and web design, but I've found out that figuring out how to get LJ to do what I want is another thing completely. ^^ So, apparently, I need a little base knowledge before I can put myself to work.

So, before I bombard you guys with questions, I'm gonna help myself to some info via the links I'm sure are provided here somewhere. I just wanted to say hi first. So, well, hi. :P

I painstakenly spent an hour changing the required information. But when I applied it I have no picture at the top and none of the sidebars. What am I doing wrong? Eveything else came out perfect but that one detail. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong? Maybe even fix it for me..if possible.

This is a new section for those in need of help. You can reach this section by clicking the help button on the main page sidebar.

When asking for help, please include the following:

1. The Layout you need help with by name

2. A link to your journal

3. The specific issue you're having a problem with (i.e. images are showing, titles missing, etc.)

If I need your code, I'll ask you to email it to me in a NOTEPAD ONLY file.

Sometimes when people post for help in specific layout pages, I can't find them again to respond. I think this will make it easier.

I will attempt to answer all help requests within 24 hours. Please realize that I am not on 24-hours a day, so it might be a few hours before I see your help request. I hope this section will help speed up help requests so I can get back to you guys sooner!

Help requests/posts will be deleted after they have been successfully resolved. This is so this page doesn't end up being uber long!

Application for Designer/Moderator

The application process for a new designer and co-moderator for this community is now open. If you know someone whom you think might be a good designer specific to this community, be sure to give them the link to this page (it is public). Spread the word.

Each application will be thoroughly screened and an interview will follow. The top three designers will then be voted on by the community for their input. I will take applications for two weeks.

Each applicant should be prepared to submit links to two original layout screenshots or working layouts. Applications will be submitted by email for privacy purposes.

Background Information
This community is a fantasy-based premade layout community where members can find a wide range of fantasy type layouts for personal livejournals or livejournal communities. We do take layout requests. We do not do any band/celebrity/rock star/movie/sports type layouts here. We have a large community of very caring, wonderful members.

1. Have a working knowledge of Livejournal specific html tags/code.
2. Be partial to fantasy based layouts.
3. Be patient and understanding with member questions.
4. Be willing to fill layout requests.
5. Working knowledge of photoshop, paint shop pro, or some other program to make layout headers.
6. Have or be willing to have a photobucket account.
7. Be able to take screenshots of layouts.
8. Be able to make layouts IE and Mozilla/Firefox compatible.
