Last night's ratings...
From pifeedback.com:

CBS led this typically uneventful third Friday of the May 2008 sweeps with its combination of Ghost Whisperer (Viewers: #1, 8.74 million; A18-49: #1, 2.1 rating/8 share), Moonlight (Viewers: #1, 7.68 million; A18-49: #2, 1.9/ 6) and Numb3rs (Viewers: #1, 9.13 million; A18-49: #1, 2.2/ 7). To the fans of Moonlight lighting up the boards at PIFeedback, renewal for a second season is still 50/50. What doesn’t help, of course, is the low rating among adults 18-49, which is no better than year-ago occupant Close to Home. And CBS canceled Close to Home because it skewed too old.

From pifeedback.com:

On-the-fence CBS drama Moonlight also led from 9-10 p.m., with 7.92 million viewers and a 2.1/ 7 among adults 18-49. But, comparably, this is not an improvement from year-ago occupant Close to Home. And a loss of more than one million viewers from Ghost Whisperer may not bode well for renewal.

Loss from last week, but not by much. At least our numbers are consistent. And I don't know why Berman insists on comparing it to CtH every. single. week. All numbers are down dramatically from last year, even for huge shows. Who even knows what numbers that would have been pulling now if it were still on the air.

Last Night's Ratings
From zap2it.com:

CBS swept the night's primetime hours starting with the 5.7/11 for "Ghost Whisperer." ABC was second with a 3.3/7 for "America's Funniest Home Videos." NBC was third with an hour of "Most Outrageous TV Moments." The FOX movie "13 Going on 30" had a 2.5/5 to nip the 2.2/4 for The CW's "WWE Friday Night Smackdown."

At 9 p.m. the return of "Moonlight" did a 5.0/9, down from its lead-in, but very much in line with the vampire drama's average performance this season. NBC moved up to second with a 4.8/9 for "Dateline." FOX's movie was up to a 2.8/5, just ahead of The CW's wrestling for third. ABC's "Duel" was last with a 2.4/4.

Okay, from pifeedback.com:
Moonlight (Viewers: 7.99 million; A18-49: 2.1/ 6)

From PI Feedback:

An all night of original programming led CBS to Friday victory, with a first-place finish in every half hour courtesy of Ghost Whisperer (Viewers: 9.89 million; A18-49: 2.8 rating/9 share), Moonlight (Viewers: 8.38 million; A18-49: 2.3/ 7) and Numb3rs (Viewers: 9.75 million; A18-49: 2.5/ 8). While these results are far from extraordinary, they are still dominant. And that lands all three dramas in the listing of Friday winners.

Good News from Moonves

Read here, you'll smile.  Trust me.

"Look for CBS to begin airing sister pay cable network Showtime hit drama Dexter sometime in midseason if the Writers Strike is prolonged, and for the broadcast network to bring back freshman sitcom The Big Bang Theory and first-year drama Moonlight next season."

And here.

"Of the five new series on the Eye so far this season, Moonves said that two -- "Moonlight" and "Big Bang Theory" -- are likely to return. He said he'd take two out of five any day."

Moonlight mentioned in TV Decoder Blog
‘Moonlight,’ ‘Gossip Girl,’ ‘Big Bang Theory’ Show Momentum

“Of the 26 new series that premiered in September, only three are up in A18-49 this November vs. September-October.”

In November, the three programs to raise ratings among 18- to 49-year-olds were the CBS vampire drama “Moonlight” (up 9 percent), the CW’s New York fantasy “Gossip Girl” (up 8 percent) and the CBS comedy “The Big Bang Theory” (up 6 percent).

...

Not terribly exciting, but good news! It makes it funnier if you check out the only other entry about Moonlight, which predicts its doom...

Fast affiliate ratings are in from PIfeedback.com.

Leadership from 9-10 p.m. was mixed between older skewing Women’s Murder Club on ABC (Viewers: #1, 7.76 million; A18-49: #4, 1.6/ 5), which deserves positive mention for building by over two million viewers out of Men in Trees, and the second half of theatrical encore Family Man on NBC (Viewers: #3, 7.21 million; A18-49: #1, 2.4/ 7).

Also in the 9 p.m. hour was CBS drama Moonlight (Viewers: #2, 7.33 million; A18-49: #2, 2.2/ 6), which dipped by 2.65 million viewers and 19 percent among adults 18-49 out of Ghost Whisperer.

So we lost the key demo this week and were down from last week, but I still think it could have been a lot worse for a Black Friday showing.

Moonlight Hits Series High
From the industry trade, TV Week:

Also: On Friday night, CBS’ “Moonlight” hit a series high (2.7) to help the network win the night. Also, for the first time since its premiere, “Moonlight” maintained its “Ghost Whisperer” lead-in.

That is terrific news!

From pifeedback.com:

At 9 p.m., ABC’s Women’s Murder Club and CBS’ Moonlight share leadership as follows:

Friday 9 p.m.
Women’s Murder Club (ABC)
Viewers: 9.70 million (#1), A18-49: 2.0/ 6 (#3)

Moonlight (ABC)
Viewers: 7.96 million (#2), A18-49: 2.5/ 7 (#1)

Up a tad from last week, and they won the demo, but it would be really great to get back in that 8 million range. And that (ABC) typo is their's, not mine. :p

Leadership was shared once again between ABC’s Women’s Murder Club and CBS’ Moonlight at 9 p.m. as follows:

Friday 9 p.m.
Women’s Murder Club (ABC)
Viewers: 9.47 million (#1), A18-49: 1.9/ 6 (#2)

Moonlight (CBS)
Viewers: 7.57 million (#2), A18-49: 2.1/ 7 (#1)

Also at 9 p.m. was NBC’s critically acclaimed but low rated Friday Night Lights, at just 5.45 million viewers (#3) and a 1.8/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#3).

Ratings for 1x05
ABC and CBS shared leadership in the 9 p.m. hour as follows:

Women’s Murder Club (ABC)
Viewers: 8.90 million (#1), A18-49: 2.0/ 6 (#2t)

Moonlight (CBS)
Viewers: 8.56 million (#2), A18-49: 2.4/ 7 (#1)

Compared to one year earlier, Women’s Murder Club increased by 2.04 million viewers from former occupant Men in Trees (8.90 vs. 6.86 million on Oct. 27, 2006), but it was down by nine percent among adults 18-49 (2.0/ 6 vs. 2.2/ 6). Moonlight compared to former occupant Close to Home was down by 2.27 million viewers (10.83 to 8.56 million) and 11 percent among adults 18-49 (2.7/ 8 to 2.4/ 7). Why CBS canceled Close to Home is a mystery to begin with.

Also at 9 p.m. was NBC’s Friday Night Lights, which finished third in total viewers (5.88 million) and tied for second with Moonlight among adults 18-49 (2.0/ 6). Retention for Friday Night Lights out of Deal or No Deal was just 56 percent in viewers, but a solid 87 percent among adults 18-49.

From PI Feedback:

Friday 9 p.m.
Women’s Murder Club (ABC)
Viewers: 9.67 million (#1), A18-49: 2.0/ 6 (#2)

Moonlight (CBS)
Viewers: 7.78 million (#2), A18-49: 2.1/ 7 (#1)

That's up from last week and it's back to leading in the demo.

No mention of the show and a pick up for the whole season from him, but it's better than nothing.

Friday 9 p.m.
Moonlight (CBS)
Viewers: 7.30 million (#2), A18-49: 2.0/ 6 (#3)

Friday Night Lights (NBC)
Viewers: 5.42 million (#4), A18-49: 1.7/ 5 (#4)

Comparably, that put retention for Moonlight out of Ghost Whisperer of a still positive 83 percent in total viewers and 80 percent among adults 18-49; and Friday Night Lights out of Deal or No Deal of 53 percent in viewers and 71 percent in the demo. I bet more people would watch Friday Night Lights if the camera would stop shaking constantly.

From here.

Not great, but I suppose between Women's Murder Club and baseball, we'll have to take it.

The numbers in parenthesis are based on everyone for the night, not just the hour. I didn't copy the info on 8 or 10 PM.

Programming Insider
In series-premiere news, CBS drama Moonlight opened with 8.62 million viewers (#2 behind NBC’s Las Vegas) and a first-place 2.5/ 8 among adults 18-49 at 9 p.m. While the good news was compatibility out of lead-in Ghost Whisperer, the bad news was a loss from the season-premiere of former occupant Close To Home (Viewers: 11.94 million; A18-49: 3.0/ 9 on Sept. 22, 2006) of 3.32 million viewers and 17 percent in the demo. Was the older skewing Close To Home really that bad?
